When to go to WDW??

Hi all

So we went to WDW in January 2009 and will be going in January 2010.
We very much enjoy the low crowd levels and that time just seems to work well for us.

After this next trip, we really want to plan on going at a warmer time of the year so we can go to the water parks, try some water sports on Bay Lake, and maybe experience some special events.
June, July and August are off the table...it's way too hot for us!!!

We were thinking maybe October or May?

Any thoughts??
Thanks!

In May you would get to enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival.

In October you would get to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival.

For us, even though our May trip was great, we love October due to F&W.

I have been in May, June, July and September.

May - Crowds low - Heat very nice and good for waterparks -

June - too hot for me (From england) and also lots of rain when we came), and crowds were very high

July - Never again :ROFLOL: to hot!!!!!

September - Very nice but very rainy, maybe this was unusual

i am now lookign at coming 30 October - 14 November , lets hope the weather is good then, and the crowds are low

We love the weather in October. It is hot, but not blistering hot. Crowd levels are not as high as summer either. Factor in the F&W fest. And you can't beat it.

I would typically say May, as we've always experienced low crowds, but this may is predicting to be very high crowds. If May is going to be having larger crowds, I would say go with October. That way you could see all the Halloween decorations too. :)

Going strictly by the topic of this thread, the answer is quite easy: GO NOW! (but then, that's always my answer of when to go to WDW, unless it's the week between Xmas and New Year's.)

But seriously, I'd say May. This avoids the spring break crowd and still beats the school's out crowd. It's warm enough for water parks. September used to be a pretty good idea. You miss all the kids out of school, however, Disney has offered free dining in September for the past few years. This increases crowding (making it extraordinarily hard to get sit-down meal reservations).\

October shouldn't be too bad, either.

Both months can be about the same temperature wise. The later you get into May however the days can be no better than a July day. The evenings in October may be a little warmer towards the beginning of the month but they can get a little cool towards the end of the month. The risk you run into in October however, particularly in early October, would be the chance of a tropical system moving through. May tends to be quite a bit drier and more consistant. That being said I still prefer October for the fall & Halloween atmosphere

I remember a trip to WDW in early May and we all had goosebumps on our legs waiting for the bus! It did not stay chilly, but the morning chill caught us by surprise.

On a recent early November trip, the temps were 70-ish, but we thought it was quite humid. I can handle the heat, but the humidity is just awful.

So my thought would be May. Perhaps middle of the month to avoid the Memorial Day crowds.

Hi there!

We honeymooned in April - after Easter - and had a fabulous time!! It was warm but not hot - and we still hit the water park and it was perfect!! And we've been in October and it was steamy!! Especially at night! Weird!! So this last trip in November I totally planned for warm! I was realistic that it would not be as warm as it was that past October but did not plan for freezing! Which it was!!! It was crazy cold! So unfortunately - I can't help with what time to go based on weather b/c it's never been the same twice and no consistency! ha ha :ROFLOL: What I can say is this...October is a great time to go!!! Food and Wine Fest and the MNSVSHP! It's a great great time to go! :sohappy:

The only months I haven't been to Walt Disney World are March, August, and September.

If I had to choose between October and May, I'd choose October. Both have nice weather, and though May would be a little better for the water parks most likely, October would be a little less crowded, and I love going during the Food and Wine Festival.

October is a great time to go! Like others have said really, low crowds and nice weather, I wouldn't recommend february or atleast not in Presidents week. Didn't realised our holiday ran through that last year as I am from UK, crowds were high(well much higher than october anyway) and weather wasn't great.

Our 2 October trips were by far the best as far as crowds. Our weather was still quite warm, we swam a lot. We went the third week in October. did MNSSHP and F&W - it was a great time!

I have gone in May, June, July, August/September, and December. May is really nice with lower crowds and warm (80's - 90's) but not too humid. June was also nice but warmer with higher humidity and larger crowds. July/August and early September were very warm and humid with large crowds but bearable (I'm from Maryland which is equally hot and humid so it is really what you are used to). One concern with a late summer and fall trip is the possibility of a hurricane or tropical storm interfering with your trip. Whenever you go you just need to make sure that you prepare properly for the day's weather. So if really hot/humid/crowded, plan accordingly with lots of bottled water, early starts, frequent breaks, and dress lightly.

We love going at the beginning of December before the Christmas rush. The parks and resorts are decorated so beautifully and the special events, like Epcot Candlelight Processional, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the Osborne Family Lights are fantastic. Crowds were very manageable when we were there (Dec. 14 - 19, 2008) and the weather was wonderful.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :sohappy:

Looks like October may be the winner for us...or maybe May..ahh so hard to pick!
We'll probably end up going in May, but we'll see!
Does anyone know if May is considered value season?

Thanks!

October, IMO is the better time to go! The Food & Wine Festival is just great.. Epcot is my favorite park so its even better spending for time there with the F&WF!
