When does Spring Break Begin??

Please excuse me if I posted twice, I think I made a mistake. So, here's my question.

My wife and I want to plan a trip back to "The World"some time in April., and we want to avoid big spring break crowds. When is the best time to go and can we miss the crowds? We have always gone during the Fall or late summer so this would be a new experience for us. If anyone knows when the peak time for Spring Break is, we would love to know so we can schedule around it. Thanks!! Maybe a few "locals" couyld also give me a headsup as to what to expect weather wise during that time of year. Thanks!!

First of all, welcome!
Our spring break this year is the week of April 14th. I believe the peak weeks for spring break are usually the week before Easter and the week after. We were there last year for spring break, it was the end of March and the weather was beautiful. 70's and 8o's and not too humid. It was crowded, but we had a great time. You'll enjoy it if you plan ahead a bit and use FASTPASS.

Spring Break season starts the end of February/beginning of March...
(my college's spring breaks were always the first week of March)

The peak will probably be in April right around Easter...
That's when most school districts (or at least the ones in SC) have their Spring Breaks.

I guess it depends where you live, I live in North Texas and our spring break is the week of March 17-21. This includes the K-12 and the college students.

We are taking a trip during this time and have only been to WDW during 1 other busy time, but that was pre fast pass, so hopefully that will help the lines. We already know that it is going to be crowded, just have to plan and be flexable with that plan. :hammer: All of our other trips where during the low seasons but still looking forward to a lot of fun.

That's the week we're going, too! My mom is a school teacher in West Texas, and we're working around her spring break.

Our break is also March 17-21.

If my schedule were somewhat flexible (i.e., no school schedules to work around), and I wanted to go to WDW during the spring, I would go in early May, or that last partial week of April.

Easter is late this year--April 20, so crowds will be heavy until about Sunday the 27th (I'm just guessing here).

If you wait until May, the Flower and Garden show should be in full swing. I've never seen it for real--only photos, but it looks incredible. And I'm not a hard core gardening person--if I thought I could pave my yard, I would!!

Just my humble opinion.........

Disney will start to get crowded at President's Day week... Shortly after that, the last of the Winter breaks start, and the beginning of the College Spring Breaks start... Crowds will remain till about Easter. The week before AND after Easter will be *JAM PACKED*. After Easter, it will slow somewhat until School lets out, then we'll be in full summer swing.

So you're saying that the last week of Feb will be packed??? Hmm...maybe I'll pass on this trip

I just talked with a cm taking my reservation and she said it doesn't usually get crowded until around 3/7/02........She might not know what she is talking about but that is much what I was told by CM when I was there in Sept. They said in Feb to avoid President's Day and the Daytona 500, otherwise it should be okay. Not like early February but still not that bad.

I was there for the last week of February 2002 and the parks weren't crowded. We never used FastPass and never waited more than 5 minutes for anything but Test Track. It's the week that I would've chosen to go ahead if we didn't have to work around mom's school schedule.

Last week of Feb won't be too terrible. But that will be break time for a lot of NH schools, as well as a few other schools out there.

Michel72688, are you in public or private school? For you non-Floridians, Oviedo is an Orlando suburb, which equals more "locals" on break if he's in public school. Most public schools in the same area will try to coordinate their breaks for the same time.

The private schools in JAX will be out the same week (I don't know when the public schools are out...sometimes the weeks coincide, sometimes not); my daughter's Pennsylvania college is also out at the same time.

We went the first week of Feb 2000, hardly no crowds and able to meet with the characters without getting mobbed. Now we are planning a trip around our spring break, which is the week of March 23rd. I am not sure what to expect crowd wise, I know it will be busier than our last trip, but was hoping it would not be too bad, with Easter being so late. We are planning this trip with another family and hope that we can see everything that everyone wants to see (but realize we will not see it all) Is this a reasonable expectation for this time of year?

University of Minnesota schools are week of March 17
University of Wisconsin schools are the same week.

I'll be there that time of the year.

I think Canadian schools star in February

It will be busier than the first week of February for sure, but certainly not as crazy as the week before and after Easter. The weather will a bit more reliable in March than early Feb as well. Just plan ahead a bit, use FASTPASS and I'm sure you'll have a great time.
