whats your trigger

For me it's the ride on the "Pseudo-rail" at MCO. It's not really a monorail per se, just a bunch of linked-up busses on an elevated road, but it is still so vastly different from everyday travel that it lets me know that I've arrived. That and the whole "Welcome to Central Florida..." spiel they play on it. "Whether your visiting one of our many attractions or returning home..." I love that.

Dang. Beat me to it. Nothing says to me that I'm going to be in Disney World soon than the MCO Monorail.

We kind of have a tradition of stopping at the Perkins at the beginning of Hotel Plaza Blvd and have lunch there before we do our food shopping and resort check-in. When I sit down and order our meal I get that feeling that I'm back.

when leaving the orlando airport and the doors open and the september heat hits your face...and there it is....the magical express....your ride to the begining of your vacation......yeah I could go on and on....I have plenty...walking around the general store at POR while hubby checks us in....seeing the castle for the first time ..as the bus gets closer and closer...resort tv.....yahooo..oh yes.. 25 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It use to be that first site of the castle. Now that I go all the time though there really isnt much that gets me going. I like the smell of pop corn. When I go with peopel and its thier first time the castle can get me going but i rarely go with people on their first time.

3. Handing my bags over at PHL knowing I won't see them again until I arrive
at my Disney resort!
2. Watching the signs turn from green to purple .

1. Seeing the castle again knowing I have a week of carefree living to enjoy! I hope there is a Disney in Heaven!

Mine is a combination of driving under the welcome arch and then pulling up to the hotel. It's only a two hour drive but I still get a thrill driving under that sign.

Well, let's see.
I suppose the first, first trigger is going under the arches, as many people have noted.
Then, if we're staying at the Wilderness Lodge, then going through the huge doors and feeling the blast of cold air.
Then, regardless of which resort, once we get our bags into our room and click on resort t-v and prepare to head out.
Then, the smell of diesel from the buses, if we at an All-Star, or sitting back in the boat if we're at the Lodge.
Then, walking under the tracks at the train station.
I've been known to practically skip down Main Street USA.

Mine is getting off the plane at the airport, or maybe even before then when you're low enough to look out the window and see palm trees and pools in every yard. When was little I always looked forward to riding the rail vehicle in the airport because our airport didn't have anything like that at the time, and I also made my family stop and look in the Disney store there so I guess that counts too. Also, to this day every time I hear the word "beeline" I think of going to Disney because all I knew back then was that somehow it would get us from the airport to our hotel and Disney.

Without doubt it's going into MK for the first time, the build-up from the time you step off the monorail, go through the turnstiles, through the tunnel (I have to get a map, its like my security blanket, i don't use it but I like to hold it) and then come out and smell the popcorn, then walk to the middle of mainstreet look at the castle, and feel the same way I did the first time I ever saw it, that feeling is priceless.

:sohappy: just wanted to know what everyones trigger is,what i mean is what is it you see or do at wdw that says im finally here.mine is the first ride on sse its a ride where i sit back and relax usually after a long drive and say to myself im finally here let the magic begin.my dd has an odd one to me hers is when she does the finger scan.just wondering about others sorry if this thread is a repeat i searched but didnt see anything. 36 days and counting 9-24-06:sohappy:

Hey we are going Sept 24 also!!!

My very first trigger is the very decorated LPGA Blvd on 95 just before Daytona. (That means only an hour to go)

My second trigger is the "Welcome Home" that we recieve as we check into our Disney Vacation Club Resort. Hearing those words definately make me feel like I have arrived.

I've got a few triggers, dependant upon the situation.

If my wife and I are going to the MK for a day, it's typically our play argument on whether or not we take the resort monorail (which is my pick) or the express (which is her pick). We take the resort every time, because deep down, we both like it more.

If we're staying at a resort, I think the trigger for both of us is when I get impatient standing in line and make a beeline for the merchandise store. Or...if I'm behaving that day, I'll stand next to my wife and just read stuff off the guide maps to her like it's brand new, even though we've seen it all a hundred times. :)

The first trigger is rolling under the purple arch...

The "I'm really here" trigger is turning on the TV and the "Countdown" with Stacy is playing in the background. Even my DW keeps it on that channel for the most part.

Two trips to go this year! (MNSSHP, and my PRI solo trip!)
