What's your tradition?

I was just curious to hear about other people's Disney World Traditions.

For example, an arrival tradition that my fiance and I have is: We take an early flight (usually around 7AM), upon our arrival, we hop on the Disney's Magical Express, check in at our resort and head right for the Magic Kingdom. Once we're there (usually around 11:30AM) we head right to Casey's Corner for the most delicious hot dog I've ever tasted, and then finally head on over the "The Wildest Ride In The Wilderness!" BTMM!

When we arrive, the first thing we do is buy the refillable mugs and walk around the resort. At the end of every evening we fill in our Passporter. We also go back to all of our favorite eating places like Pirata y el Perico(when it's open). We also make sure to load up on the honey mustard packets and Goofy Gummies.

The past times I've celebrated my birthday out at the resort. So I'd pretty much make a day before the trip and head out to The Museum of Science & Industry here in Chicago. Everytime I go it reminds me of EPCOT...It has it's same principles of Energy, Land, Life, Imagination, Space, and Technology..Then I go out with my mom as we do some shopping and have dinner..

Then I'm up at 3am doing a double check on all my things and getting ready to head out...Lucky for me..I live right by O'hare....No Really! I'm like 3 minutes from it!

We usually take an early morning flight out and arrive well before lunch time. After checking into the resort we walk around for a few minutes and take a few pics then we either eat at the resort (if the kids say they are absolutely starving) or hop on the bus to DTD and eat there. We shop at DTD and eventually head back to the resort to change and freshen up for dinner. We then head to the contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey's. After dinner we ride the monorail and usually check out Poly. Then it's back to the resort to relax and get to bed early so we can be ready to head out first thing in the a.m. for rope drop at MK.

Our first morning at Magic Kingdom: be there for AM EMH,: picture in front of the castle, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Carousel, Pooh, Indy Racers, Buzz, SM (not this trip), TTA, Tea Cups, Toon Town, lunch at LTT, Haircuts on Main Street. Nobody in our group even ask anyomre what we are doing that day. We almost walk in auto pilot. It's like we aren't really at Disney until these things have been completed.

We take an early flight, check into the hotel and go to the MK. We then head directly to the barber shop for haircuts for my sons....they both had their first haircut in Disney so that is how we kick off every trip............

We always arrive on Sunday around 10:00am and we check in to our hotel and head over to ESPN Club so we can watch the Patriots on one of the TVs.

This year they happen to be playing Tampa Bay on that Sunday so it should be a good mix of people at the ESPN Club.

The second thing we do is always go to MK on our last full day of our trip.

One tradition I will have to do without this December, is visiting the Adventurers Club and close the night at Mannequins at Pleasure Island.

Always looked forward to reciting the club creed and taking in a night at the AC, then after 1 a.m. I would spend about an hour or so at Mannequins on the revolving dance floor before heading back to the resort.

Hopefully Disney has a change of heart and re-opens both venues for the holidays.

We go every year and book a year ahead.Thirty weeks before the trip we start to watch sixty movies (two a week)-all the classics, all the Pixar movies and (this year) three randomly-picked spare ones (this year it will be Nightmare Before Christmas, Dinosaur and Enchanted). We're going in October and this week we're watching Tarzan and Fantasia 2000.
When we get there, we have many traditions but the main one is watching Reflections Of Earth on the last night then telling Spaceship Earth "we'll be back next year" as we leave for the last time, always with lumps in our throats and a little moisture in our eyes (must be the smoke from the fireworks....)

Ours is more geared to the trip down. We allways drive down ( sorry but it's a safety issue, I have never ever heard of a flock of geese bringing down a '94 Lincoln Town Car ). And usually leave right after work on Friday ( which, over the years we have pushed back to about noon on Friday ), driving till my eyes start to get out of focus then hitting the rest area for a snooze. The next morning when we cross the FL state line I immeadetly play "Tourist Trapp" by Rev Billy C Wirtz. It's a collection of most every touristy cliche' (sp?) you have ever heard about traveling in FL, and it's funny as all get out. That serves as mommas wake up call and shortly thereafter we seek out a Waffle House for a pecan waffle, a coffee and then it's on to WDW !

Also, I have been corrected, the better half informs me that like so many others here the MK is what really means Disney and the first day we allways go to MK. Now I didn't realise this untill she pointed it out. But when we get there I'm kinda still a little bleary eyed from the drive and I ask her what she would like to do that first day. And she allways says ( so she tells me, and looking back, I believe her ) let's go to the MK.

No matter how many days are in our trip we always have to go to the MK on the first day and the last day that we are there... the Magic Kingdom just means Disneyworld to us! We always try to watch Wishes on our last night also...

Ice cream on Main Street on the way out after fireworks. I MUST have my ice cream! :dazzle: It's been a tradition in my family for more than thirty years.

Also, we make a point not to go to the MK on our arrival day. We always go on our first full day, anything less would not do the experience justice IMO.

My tradition

I guess my tradition every trip is that the day that I arrive I board the first park bus that shows up. I think it just adds some excitement since you never know what the buss will be until it shows up.

Mine, too! We've been driving down along I-75 since I was an infant... which was, ahem, before WDW opened (1st trip to WDW - 1973 at age 4). Anyhow, on every drive, both coming and going, as we passed over the bridge over the Suwanee River, my mother would belt out at the top of her lungs, in the most horrible soprano off-tune voice, the words "WAY DOWN UPON THE SUWANEE RIVER" (which as us older folks know, is an old standard-y song). It didn't matter if we were in the middle of a serious conversation, we were sound asleep, reading a book, fighting with each other, whatever, she did it every time. Of course, my father would just roll his eyes every time.

So, of course, I have carried on the tradition with my own kids (HA!). Ever since they were in their infant seats, I've belted it out, much to the chagrin of everyone in the car. It's a hilarious tradition, and going to WDW wouldn't be the same without it.

We never go to a park our first day there. We just consider us to be on vacation so just getting there is fun enough. The next day we always go to the MK and the last day of our vaca is at MK. Always. We always have to eat at Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Casey's, Rainforest and 50's Primetime sometime during out trip. Plus get cotton candy and a rice krispy treat. We usually rent a pontoon boat for an hr and take a picnic out. Plus check out Character Premier before buying things in the parks or DTD.
