Holy fish sticks! If I had a dollar for every time I saw a hate thread for how disappointed someone was for the opening of Little Mermaid, or Seven Dwarves... What... Is.. the DEAL!?

You guys are really trying to compare Little Mermaid to Peter Pan..?? They barely even relate to each other. But, if you guys want to go into detail on it.. Which ya'll haven't. Ya'll just state the fact that it's more of an E-Ticket than the little mermaid. Okay.. Soo... Please do explain to me how this

Please do explain your reasoning. I'm very interested. How is Peter Pan better than Little Mermaid? I swear I won't hate on you. Nooo no.. Not at all. I'm sure I can see why dolls super glued to small sculptures riding past in less than 5 seconds is toooootally more entertaining than 20 seconds of soooo much more to look at in one scene. Then you guys complain about how Disney didn't go full out on animatronic movement. Um, hello? Are you only looking at the fish in the under the sea scene? Who was it that said Ursula's movement was "OK"? Oh yes. It was definitely "OK" compared to other dark rides such as Pooh Bear.. or the statues in Peter Pan... Heck. Even the AAs in Great Movie Ride.

Why. So. Much. Hate. Why? What more were you expecting? Complaining about a lighting problem from the ceiling being exposed? Why are you looking at the ceiling anyways? It's because you guys are finding things to complain about when ya'll get back on these forums. Geez.

You want something that's worth complaining about? Well here's a few that I don't understand all the praise for... Mission: Space. A fancy carnival ride. Soarin', a giant screen where you have to sit on the exact middle not to be distracted by the corners where the video ends. Toy Story Mania: A moving Wii-ride.

I think the little mermaid is a perfect classic-style dark ride. Which is what the imagineers were trying to portray. You want a dark ride to complain about? Go ride Finding Nemo and or wait the hour and a half for both Peter Pan and this ride, then tell me which one was worth that wait.

Wooooo man. I had to get all that out. This was making me mad. Maybe it's just me and my "generation." That's what most of the arguments I receive from these forums are against me! "This bieber generation is sooo mainstream." :p

EDIT: I do understand that people are entitled to their own opinions.

Once again...it's because Little Mermaid was originally conceived as a grand adventure.

They planned out a four-course steak dinner but ultimately delivered a drive-thru 99 cent menu.

Also, they wouldn't have an hour and a half wait if they would just scrap the Fastpass.

Dear Disney: Omnimovers. Don't. Need. Fastpass.

Why do you assume an opinion that differs from yours is "hate"? I was underwhelmed with the ride PP comparison or not (which I personally never made)...I was just simply not impressed. I thought Disney could bring more game to the table than they did and I voiced that as have others. I guess I just don't feel the same hate emanating from the posts that you do but in all honesty (and this is not an attack) you seem to be taking all of this way too personally. You like/love the ride and that is great, I respect that and am happy for you, I do not belittle your feelings of enjoyment.

Oh...and calling peoples opinions stupid...kind of immature;)
Edit: he said peoples opinions that voiced dislike of the ride were stupid...and then edited it. Just needed to clarify.

You gotta valid point there. (: It looks like it might have been a little scary for younger kids I'm guessing though.

EDIT: I do understand that people are entitled to their own opinions. But these opinions are stupid ones. -_-

Honestly, I was perfectly willing to share my views on the matter until you put this line in your post. If you are going to automatically call an opinion that differs from yours "stupid" before hearing the reasoning behind those opinions, especially when you have just openly invited people to delve into their opinions further, then I'm honestly not sure I understand the point behind this thread, unless it's just to create drama. Not trying to be rude. I just really don't understand.

However, since you asked...

I personally have never ridden The Little Mermaid, but I definitely plan to do so in just under three weeks. From the picture you posted, however, I would have to agree that it appears to have some neat scenery in it.

On the other hand, PP is a classic in my book. It has been there for as long as I can remember and is still extremely popular. I stated on the other thread that I think people are drawn to that ride for its status as a classic and for the nostalgia of reliving something that they enjoyed when they were younger and can now share with their own children.

I don't know that I would call either one "better" than the other. Peter Pan doesn't have the same level of AA, but it's also much older and has still managed to keep its popularity, while TLM seems to receive a fairly decent amount of criticism fairly regularly, primarily (from what I've read) because people feel like Disney didn't live up to its potential in implementing this one. Maybe I'll change my mind after my upcoming trip and take a side one way or the other, but for now, that's all I've got lol.

Well the ride vehicle is a bit more interesting but Peter pan is 40+ years old. Technology today should be able to produce a much better attraction. I think it's widely known that this ride is scaled back and mine train as well.

Mine train should have never been scaled back but it was, by a lot.

If you don't get the hate, you either haven't been there much or have no appreciation for what was lost.

Sorry for that guys it's also pretty late here so I'm not thinking a bit before I'm posting a little.

I hear ya! I'm about to turn in myself :)

"EDIT: I do understand that people are entitled to their own opinions. But these opinions are stupid ones. -_-"

Now I don't agree with with that at all but it could be the signature line for so many people here :)

Hah! There are definitely lots of people around here who feel like any opinion that veers from their own is stupid. Sigh...

I have nothing to say about the mine train until I actually ride it.

Little Mermaid I just did not like how the story progressed. It felt rushed and incomplete. It just goes from the kiss to "And they all lived happily ever after." Wait, what happened to the whole Ursula taking Ariel's voice situation? If you don't clearly remember the whole movie, you are left with a lot of questions.

That is just my stupid opinion.

That certainly would have been an epic dark ride. I know the cgi was over the top, but I wonder how much of what we see in the animation would have made it to the real, full funded ride.

I can understand now why so many are upset over the final product if they saw that video in advance. I myself hadn't watched it until now, and had little issue with the current ride, except that it feels rushed.

But now I'm a little sad :(

You are proving your own point. Like you edited and posted later, people have different opinions and typically can't be convinced the other way.

The attractions you think are worth complaining about, I really enjoy. Mission: Space, Soarin, Toy Story Mania. You don't.

The purpose of this forum is to discuss our opinions and enjoy chatting about Disney.

Both the Little Mermaid and Peter Pan attractions have one similarity that they should NOT have: clunky, outdated animatronics (aside from Ursula, perhaps) and set decorations ("Under The Sea" scene, and the fish in the "Kiss the Girl" scene, for instance). For an attraction building that is truly beautiful to look at as "Under the Sea" is, the content of the building leaves a LOT to be desired. For Peter Pan, it has the excuse of being a very old attraction, with old animatronics and decorations, that is not set in its own building but one that's shared with other things. I think if the roles were reversed, and Peter Pan was remade into its own attraction with up-to-date technology and was set where UtS is now, it could be something really great, and as-is, UtS should be some rinky little ride in the place of where Peter Pan is now, because it's simply pretty wrapping with a bland center. Peter Pan is more enjoyable than Little Mermaid in and of itself because of its more fun and adventurous story as well.

Mission:Space can hardly be compared to a carnival ride. That's not even a close comparison. No carnival ride employs the technology used to exert the kind of G-forces on you that MS does, nor the video technology either to immerse you in the attraction.

I think we may have missed his point on this topic. The point that I think he was trying to make is that in general there is a lot of negativity on sites like these directed at Disney. Disney is a place that we all feel very passionate about or we would not be spending so much time and energy on sites like this one and we are all entitled to our own opinions on how the parks are progressing. I just think that for a place that brings us all so much joy we spend a lot of time harping on the negatives instead of embracing the positives. At the end of the day we got 2 more ride experiences to go along with Peter Pan and all 3 are great rides that you cant experience anywhere else other than Disney. The beauty of it is that we get to enjoy a ride that is timeless at 40 years old in Peter Pan and we get to enjoy the new technology of today in LM and TSDMT. It is original imagineering and new imagineering and we get to enjoy both.

:):):):):):):)I hope everyone has a magical day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):):):):)

I think both Peter Pan and Little Mermaid are lame. I was underwhelmed with the final result of Mermaid...it could have been so much more. As for Pan, the ride is over 40 years old...why the heck hasn't it been updated? It is by far the most overrated ride in the Magic Kingdom.
