What's up with the turkey legs?

Okay, I am quite fond of the Disney turkey legs. I am guilty. Now, I was with my sister and brother-in-law at Downtown Disney, and we were having a turkey leg craving. We went to guest relations and when we asked the lady about them, she acted as if we were looking for crack:lookaroun !!! She said " You actually like those things? Well if you knew what I know you'd be disgusted." So I want to know, what the hell is up with the turkey legs, I still love 'em and most other Disney food, and would be upset to find out that something nasty is going on. So don't stay:zipit:

Okay Rob, now you're a CM, so cough it up. I need to know before I have another leg. Come on, bring it, cough it up already.

As an employee, I don't think she should have said that to you.

Pretty much everything we eat is disgusting. Why should turkey legs be any different? Don't think about it too hard!

Her being a CM I should've reported her.

Why is everythign we eat disgusting? Unless you are some nit-picky person, I don't think anything is disgusting, maybe unless they tell me that meat had maggots all over it.

A note:

I have no qualms about calling custodial to empty a trash can if someone dumps a half-eaten leg in one of our interior recepticles. They have the incredible ability to make everything smell like them - gotta love the Disney air fresheners though.

Yum.. Fall Harvest..

Then why so worried about the turkey legs? If you didn't see any maggots, you should be fine.

Haven't you ever known anybody in the restaurant industry? I also used to know someone who worked in a meat-packing plant. The stories, the stories! It has nothing to do with being nit-picky.

I eat out a lot so obviously I don't let it get to me.

Just eat it and don't question it, and the world will be a happy place. Just please don't dump it in an interior trash can. We only get so much air freshener ;)

That would depend on us knowing where you worked there. I'll bring your own for lunch one day while I'm there.

I'll be blunt...

Turkey Legs... are just that.

If I want the L-tryptophan, I'll go to Subway and get a turkey sub. But for the life of me, I refuse to put that smoked bat o' fat in my mouth. I already associate Turkey Legs w/ vomit as it is

As a former U.S.D.A. Meat Inspector, I can say this:

There's is nothing wrong with the Turkey Legs at Disney World.

They are all Inspected for pathological diseases at the slaughterhouses and found to be fine and totally fit for human consuption.

Why they may contain too much fat in some peoples opinion, they are alot healthier than alot of other things in the park such as icecream, hamburgers and fries, etc.

If they gross you out simple because they are "LEGS"...you should just avoid them, not make up bad things to say...like they are emu.

If "LEGS" bother you...perhaps you should not eat HAM because that comes from a Pigs rear end...

..or Hamburgers because that meat comes from a Steer or Heifers Knuckles, shanks, and other parts of the body.

and I don't even wanna TALK about VEAL....poor little baby cattle:(

I'm sorry if my emu post offended you. I was just pointing this out because I remember a similar post to this several years ago on wdwinfo.com, where someone said it was rumored that the legs were emu. I never believed it at all. It was just a little bit of reminiscing...
