What's Up With Splash Mountain?

Yesterday I got my ID card and finally got to go into the parks. My group and I went on Splash Mountain and there were a bunch of problems. First off, a bunch of the AAs weren't working right. Second, there were several instances where the logs bunched up causing delays. The third, which I found the most disturbing, is that for the laughing place drop, you were able to see all of the wiring and tech very easily. Wasn't this refurbished not too long ago? It certainly doesn't seem like it. Anyone know what's going on?

Hmmm... When you say that you could see things in the drop, do you mean that it seemed like there might have been worklights on? Worklights + backed up logs kinda sound like there might have been some sort of ride stoppage that hadn't been fully resolved yet.
Once the attraction stops and logs bunch up at the hold points, it can take a little while for everything to work itself out again...

^^ Yep.

There are up to 46 logs on the ride at one time!! Imagine if one thing slows down or stops, there's a long time before all of the boats can get through like normal again

actually.. Hoppy has NOT been broken for over a month.. It's been since May 4th... he went down the same night Mr Blue Bird came back online..

AA's+water = difficult maintenance... fact of life. :)

I was just on it two days ago and was more annoyed by the ridiculous amount of trash that guests had thrown in various places. Is it really that hard to wait until you get off to throw out your tissues and water bottles?

Hey Thrill Seeker!

Anyways, i was with Thrill Seeker when I went to Magic Kingdom after Traditions class. A lot of AA's was not working. What was up with the Laughing Place drop? I could see industrial equipment and the scene going down and the landing was all gone?!?!

(side note: seeing Haunted Manson for the first time after refurb was awesome! :sohappy:)

I think I know what the OP means by this. End of March I rode Splash. When on the drop that goes from one level of the laughing place to the very lowest level (with pop-up gophers), there was a curtain or scrim or something pulled back or missing that let you seen into the mountain. So instead of just seeing black before you go down the flume, you can see structure, duct work, plumbing, conduit, etc. Kinda creppy looking actually. Would have thought they would have fixed that by now.

That's because they are using the T600 models. The T800 should effectively guard the SkyNet Base, otherwise known as Splash Mountain.

Seriously, though...That's a shame. Fix one, one breaks down. You would think they would have a B Mode...:lookaroun:lol:

The cascading of the logs is caused by the dispatchers not dispatching their logs fast enough, which is usually caused by disabled guests boarding. Sometimes it's just because the dispatchers aren't very good. As for your complaints about seeing everything at drop 3, there's a bright light from the laughing place hitting the water shields on each side of the bottom of the drop and illuminating them. I never noticed it until I started working there and assumed it was because I now knew what the drop looked like, but maybe it really has gotten more noticeable that the room is completely bare. The maintenance issues stem from poor management and an even poorer maintenance team. Every time I did ride-through I'd mention the problems, but after months of the same stuff not working, I just gave up hope. One night the hopping Brer Rabbit's head was completely backwards, and it still took awhile before management finally decided to shut down the ride. They honestly don't care and it's sad.

All I can say is that it needs to be fixed pronto!

I was disappointed with the amount of trash throughout the ride when we went last, back in December of 08. The most glaring thing I saw was a "Not so Scary Halloween" times guide stuck on the rock work alongside the flume, not 15 feet from the final launch attendant.

So, a times guide had apparently floated through the waterways of Splash for at least a month or more by the time I saw it, and it stayed stuck in the same - easy to get to - place over multiple rides throughout our 10 day trip.
