What's the deal with Nine Dragons?

Thinking about going there for dinner... however, I can't really find a lot on it. It's not one of those hyped restaurants so there aren't a thousand threads on it. Some places I see people think it's great, others say it's glorified take out.

So, what's the deal with Nine Dragons?

We liked it well enough. I had heard the same criticism before we went, but I found it different from - and better than - what I normally get in Chinese restaurants at home. It was a lot more expensive of course. I don't regret going, but it's not at the top of my list to go back to. I want to try all the Epcot TS at least once. Still have Norway and Japan to go.

I enjoyed the food quite a bit, but it is overpriced. Appetizer, dinner, dessert and 3 adult beverages set me back around 80 bucks...for one person. I enjoyed it, but not that much.

I think that since the refurb a few years ago it improved quite a bit. I went there last summer and had a couple of items that wouldn't normally be found in your local chinese restaurant. It isn't a place that I would run back to, but it was good and worth going to if you have never been.

I guess in a lot of places, "Chinese food" is take-out only.

We have a number of places around here that are pretty much exactly the same as Nine Dragons. They serve the same sort of food as a take out place, but in a lot nicer manner. Around here, the table service places also do take out if you want.

They are also at the same price point as Nine Dragons. Most of the time we order 1 less entree than the number of people. If there are 4 people at the table, we order 3 dishes and spit them up. Otherwise it costs an arm and a leg and you end up with leftovers.

This is why I avoid Nine Dragons. Not because it is bad, but because I don't want leftovers. If you have a table-service place in your town that serves take-out type food, then Nine Dragons is bound to be very similar. This is not a place that does a traditional Chinese Banquet or serves 'real' Chinese food. No jellyfish salad, no fish maw soup, no whole roast chicken (whole as in head and feet), no tanks full of sea creatures where you go "I want that one" and 20 minutes later it is on your plate.

If you enjoy Chinese take-out and are up for either a group sharing entrees, or taking home leftovers, then it's a decent place.

Comparing it to the Chinese Take outs in Florida, I give Nine Dragons Five Stars. But compared to the Chinese Food you find outside of Florida its glorified take out. I hope this helps.

I found it to be a great bargain for lunch with Table in Wonderland. Without it's still a pretty good deal for lunch. The food was good I though - nothing spectacular but good enough.

I have eaten there for both lunch and dinner. The food is tasty, but ridiculously overpriced for what you get. If you have a semi-nice sit down Chinese restaurant in your town, it will be similar to that.
If I am craving Chinese food, I stop over at the Lotus blossom instead. Huge portions and a much better value.

I've been twice. First visit a couple of years ago it was really really good, the food and service were both exceptional. Last year was good, no more, no less. I will certainly go again though.

I have eaten there two or three times. The food was good, but I payed "expensive restaurant" money for food that I regularly purchase for cheapo take-out prices. There was nothing extraordinary about Nine Dragons Restaurant.

We really enjoy the place. The 5 spice fish will always be one of my Favs. and I find that the service is top notch. Give it a try!

The food is good and I would deffinately go again but as others have said its nothing special. Its one of those resturaunts that when you plan out your ADR's comes as a filler spot. What I mean by that is you have your places you really want to get into like LeCellar or San Angel Inn, then you have that one day that lunch is open so you decide to go to Nine Draggons.

yeah. I would say...it's about what you would expect.
It's satisfactory-good...but not extraordinary.

Last time I ate there the service was practically non existent
