I'm on the side of "not impressed", however, every time I ride Pirates of the Caribbean I want to hop out and explore. :goodnevil

I think the support comes purely from the fact that this is now one of the very few ways to experience this ride, and the presumption no harm was done. It's nostalgia, people that are supporting their action presume there was no comeback from the actions. They could have caused stoppages or breakages, we simply don't know. We have to take their word for it. The accepted stance is that they did no harm, and documented the ride for the future people (us today). The presence of the footage and it's value now the ride is gone, doesn't make it right, but obtaining it was clearly ballsy or stupid, whichever stance you take.

Does the fact the ride is deceased mean there won't be copycat attempts ?
Would you be happy knowing this footage encouraged a copycat attempt if you were on the wrong end of an E-stop ?

If the footage was of a live ride today, would that make the admiring people think a little more of the harm it might be capable of doing, rather than the "no harm done, look how good it is" stance.

Unlikely. All of today's dark rides either have pressure pads or are video monitored. If you step off a ride, it will E-stop.

Actually, the pressure pads are very easily avoided because, well, they look like rubber pads and they do not cover very much surface space (some are half the size of a door mat). Just don't step on them, and you're good.

hmmm like wow, I would totally want to take some of the artifacts from the Everest ride, maybe I should just rip them off the shelves next time, I will be like such a hero to people!

Wow, some people really have a cheap definition for hero these days. I don't want to hear about people saying they did this to record the ride from all angles. It was not meant to be seen from all angles, and certainly not with some hillbilly sitting on one of the couches. When tickets go up in price, it's because more sercurity, more pressure pads, more repairs are needed because of idiots like this.

We need time for things to happen.
First off let me say that I'll break a rule or two here and there including breaking the speed limit.

I guess I started out as being a hypocrite in this situation and maybe in a few others because usually I would have had a problem with a couple of jokers jumping off a ride, and roaming around - thinking these are just the type of guys that if they got hurt they'd probably sue, etc. etc.

With that being said, I took the advice of some of the posters on here.
And I did a little research before posting my opinion.
However wrong they are for breaking the rules - These guys did it out of respect for a wonderful ride. Trying to hold onto their childhood memories as well I guess I'd say..but I'm obsessively nostalgic sap so I have to say I'm very very glad there is guys like this. Every piece of footage I've witnessed it's obvious they're (like most everyone on these boards)in awe of the artwork, AA's etc.

So everyone who's on the side of flaming these guys for what they did should just take ten minutes and hit the website. It may not change your opinion but it might give you some perspective.

I think it is apparent that there are opinions on both sides of this, with one side admiring this while the other side condemns it, and neither side is going to have a change of heart. This is only going to escalate into a major argument if it continues, so there is no reason to keep the thread open.
