What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

If the presentation is truly focusing on the 100 Years of Wonder celebration, I anticipate that it will focus heavily on new Entertainment offerings, decor, food, and merchandise. Not new rides and lands.

I have no inside knowledge but this sounds like winner winner chicken dinner to me. And it will be served up by the Man in Skinny Jeans and people will hang on his every word and proclaim this to be the best D23 ever.

Never say never. If Epic Universe is as big as its potential suggests it could be, it may finally be the thing that gets the Disney board to greenlight the fifth gate. Probably not, though.
A fifth gate would an awful thing to happen to Walt Disney World. Th existing parks remain without adequate capacity and ignoring them for something else wouldn’t make things better.

A 5th gate built by today's Disney would likely be subpar for several reasons too.

Just imagine a plot of warehouses with short, low capacity rides, all IP based that can't accommodate crowds.

Basically a more expensive version of opening day Disney Studios Paris.

You’re not following along here…

It is not about competition…it’s logistics. It staffing and cost and ROI when you factor in travel habits they can’t control. Why have “5 parks” when you can’t get people to travel for more than 7 days? Each one cost you More to operate for less attendance. They don’t want to build more hotel rooms and hire more people. That’s the last thing they want.

The reality is they wouldn’t build DAK now if they had the choice again. You can make “more profit” with less outlay as it stands.

Universal has 2 parks…the third makes sense for them. Then you hit the wall.

…or mgm…which wasn’t designed to be a real “theme” park and has limped along with not enough commitment since

I don’t understand anyone who has convinced themselves announcements are on deck.

There is literally zero reason to do that if you’re Disney. None.
It’s the same pixie dust addicts who think that ticket prices aren’t that high, Genie is a good thing, I’m getting my moneys worth at Disney, and Bob Cheapek is a charismatic articulate leader and has a stunning head of hair.

Well, each would be more immersive and allow you to live out your inner <NAME>. All for $3,000 pp. That should accommodate the crowds too.
