What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

If it were up to me I would double down on D23 and announce some major wow moments to deflect from the Epic news. Use this time to assure the fans that Disney board has authorized major capital outlay due to parks being so beloved and profitable. Build out the rest of the parks and then tease a 5th park at the next D23. Use D23 2022 to introduce major park enhancements and additions over the next 5 years to coordinate with 100 anniversary. Below focuses just on the Florida property.

Magic Kingdom: Build out New Orleans square area around new Splash Mountain theming, Convert Speedway to electric Vehicles and add an indoor scene along with light package to match Tron style, re-announce the Main Street Theatre project and a new 100 year parade/night show. Finally, MK will need another major E ticket . Announce

Disney Hollywood Studio: Need to add more kinetic energy to Galaxy's Edge. I propose the rumored speed bike multi-launch coaster. This coaster (Hagrid's style) will have a large indoor section with show scenes and light package but will also weave in and around the land to add the energy. Also, add a few more variations of the missions you can explore on the Smugglers Run. Animation courtyard needs to be expanded and developed. I propose a east coast version of Pixar Pier with an Incredicoaster and a few more Pixar IP. One in particular would be a mini Cars land that would offer Flo's Cafe and a miniature version of Radiator Springs. Think antique cars on steroids. These care would talk and interact with guests as they travel through both indoor and outdoor scenes. I also think the the Beauty and Beast show could be updated with Either a frozen or some sort of celebrating 100 years of magic. Long term plans have to include a Marvel land at the end of Sunset Blvd. Also have to determine if Indiana Jones will stay at this park or move to DAK.

EPCOT: Park needs to add a new World Showcase pavilion. I propose Columbia with an Encanto attraction. Play Pavilion and Mary Poppins needs to be re-announced along with a new E ticket attraction between the Land and Seas pavilion. Also, figment needs a major re-imagining.

Animal Kingdom: This park needs significant investment. First, add alternate versions of flight of passage. Convert Dinoland to Indy Jones. Re imagine Dinosaur and add outdoor sections as well to attraction. Add a next generation Indy boat ride E ticket where Primevil whirl was using Pirates Shanghai tech. Also, how can DAK even exists without an attraction centered around the Kings of the Jungle. Need to create a Pride Rock Icon with a large Lion King Dark ride using Hong Kong new Beauty and Beast tech . Lastly, Zootopia could work well at the back of the park.

Blizzard Beach gets a new world class water coaster and a reskin to Ice Age franchise.

I know this is a ton of money and a big dream but Disney needs to think BIG!!!
Sadly this costs money, and they arent willing to spend any. They only want to make as much money as possible.

If Disney are charging so much and not willing to reinvest in attractions, spend your money at Universal out of pure principal.

I definitely feel I make an allowance for high costs if I know money is being pumped back in. I've excused Disney 2015-2020 due to huge investments / announcements. If they're charging more and announcing less ...no thanks. I'm not a mug.

Yes
I agree

Though I’m getting just a bit freaked out at how “real” ready player one is actually becoming

Its been kicked around for decades. When I was a City Editor for Quantum Link (it became AOL) we had Club Caribe (made by LucasFilms) and you can see lots of location references in Ready Player One.

As long as it wasn’t “Reedy Player One”…

Where’s there’s a $1000 per minute fee and it’s going to be outlawed at any minute…

…like Zion

the two two new ships and the new island destination will come out to roughly $3 billion total. But that total will be spread across multiple years. The $6 billion capex number is annual…
I may be mistaken but I thought their capex number usually included things like normal refurbs and such? But people also need to remember that $6 billion is worldwide. 13 parks, 5 (and 2 more being built) cruise ships, 2 water parks, transportation systems, multiple downtown areas... that's not a ton of money once you spread it around, especially when WDI's costs have increased exponentially.

Plus, couldn't the next two ships already be accounted for in previous budgets? They were announced awhile ago.
Not likely.

I know nothing about how these decisions are made, so this is just me trying to think like a contemporary Disney exec.

Would it not behoove them to try to beef up Epcot/DHS/AK more, to spread out/boost attendance in those parks? Or does the reservation system already accomplish that?

*10 parks... the 2 in Tokyo aren't apart of those numbers. I don't know where the 13th park is.. what's the secret?

Ah, good point, I forgot to exclude the OLC parks. So 10 outside of Tokyo (Not sure how but I miscounted, there are only 12 total).

DL/DCA
MK/Epcot/DHS/AK
DLP/WDSP
HKDL
SDL

Still a lot of places to spread capex around.

Not sure what they will announce but divided equally that 6 billion Capex is worth about 1.5 billion to wdw. That's a lot even for Disney. Now budget that amount over 4 to 5 years and the additional growth of the parks could be massive.
We are talking a full land or 3 to 4 new rides in each park over the next 5 years.

That in turn will generate a lot of capital.
I'd like to see the main street theater back on board.
Maybe the return of the mickey mouse review updated and added to main street when they built the theater
A cave of wonders ride based on Aladin in adventureland or AK
A neverland addition to NFL and retheme Peter pan to tangled
AK jungle book and up rides expansion of pandora and river cruise Dino ride
Epcot attractions for Germany, Italy, The UK
Studios Indiana Jones land and expansion of ge

Solid ideas. Why not leave Peter Pan as it is and give Tangled an attraction in NFL? Just asking

I think reworking the pan ride area into a new ride could fix the terrible cue and wait times plus a neverland could allow for a couple rides that are not all e ticket and upgrade pan into a ride able to deal with the crowds of today

As for wasting money I think they bury a a lot of big salaries into those projects that need somewhere to get burried
