im in a qaundry!
we land from gatwick at orlando airport about 3.30 pm, probably get to all stars resort about 5.30? by the time we get our bags and go through immigration:(. would you think thats about right. 2 hours? then check in at resort .
we are using dme so then we thought we would just go to a park, as we have fourteen day ticket and thats the first day! which park would you go to for a couple of hours? magic kingdom is open till 10pm, and studios is open till 10 with extra magic hours. i know theres no end of day show at studios, but we could do some of the bigger rides. but magic kingdom has the wishes, and we could see spectromagic.
not sure what to do....help.

I would go to MK just because that's the first park we have to go to. Our first night we won't be going to any park. We decided to relax at our resort since we'll be driving all night and arriving sometime early afternoon. We are going to book the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue for our first night. Can't wait since we've never seen it before.

I would say the MK as well because I don't know if I'd want to be out SO late on my first night.

Plus I love the MK more than the Studios

When I arrive I love to have a nice dinner the first night. If I had to pick a park it would be studios because it is the smallest and you might be tired from the travel.

We go to the MK cause we just need to walk down Main Street and see the castle, I personally would go to Epcot and watch Illuminations, but with 3 kids I get out numbered!

You could just get on the first park bus that arrives at the resort bus stop. We've done that before. We sometimes just "plan to be spontaneous".

A lot is going to depend on when you get checked in and into your room.
Do a little unpacking so it is not total confusion the next morning. You are going to be too excited to sit down at a big meal. Go over to the MK and get an ice cream cone and watch the parade. Don't worry about the rides the first night. Take in the magic and do a little shopping. Don't stay that long to ruin the next day. Just get a little taste of the excitement. You will have many days for the rides etc.

I always try to make it to the Magic Kingdom on the first night if possible. If I dont goto the parks I usually hit Downtown Disney and do some shopping and eating.

thanks everyone.
we will be on a 9 hour flight fro the uk and intend to sleep on the plane.
we only thoiught about going to a park, as its one of our 14 day addmissions on our ticket.so will probably just go to mk, watch wishes, chill have a stroll, not worried about rides as we have 2 weeks, so will just stroll with my partner and enjoy the evening.thanks.
:eek:or should we take the benefit of extra magic hours and go mad at studios and do rnr and tot. are these magic hour nights any quieter?:veryconfu

My fam ususally goes to DTD the first night, every other trip we try to see La Nouba (DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT!) and we eat somewhere nice, although you are arriving sort of late, that might be difficult. Then the next day we usually do Magic Kingdom.

We have a similar journey although we fly from Manchester, I think we arrive around 1430. We unpack, shower and then go to DtD, stroll around, sit by the lake with a beer and go to Earl of Sandwich as we never want a big meal after the long journey.

We are in the same boat as you as regards park passes, but resist the temptation to go to a park as we prefer to feel fresh for the onslaught next day. We always find we wake very early (5ish) on our first moring in the US due to the time difference, no matter what time we go to sleep the night before-of course you may not have that problem.

Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a great holiday :D

We went to EPCOT when we arrived on Christmas Day, ate at Rose & Crown and then watched Illumnations which was on at 9pm (2am body clock time) then returned to the resort and hit the sack for some much needed zzzzzzzz

Since I've always gone during value season, Epcot has always been the park with the latest hours upon my arrival. So if I arrive late afternoon that's where I go. Epcot Future World empties out in the evenings, so lines are very tolerable. But if you're there for 14 days, then just go to whichever park you're in the mood for when you arrive.

I usually go to MK on my first night and do FantasyLand, because I have no kids with me and, the lines are usually shorter at night. And that way you don't have to stay out too late.

I have to second what PP said about DTD. We usually arrive in the evening our first night as well and have found the best thing to do is either go to DTD or Boardwalk and have dinner. At Boardwalk, we always take a boat and cruise around which is a cool way to see a few resorts. I also like what a few PP said about having dinner at a few select restaurants they love in resorts.

The main reason we do what we do, is that it is low pressure, very relaxing and you don't waste a full day park admission on only a few hours.

We would see if there is any EMH that night. If there was, we would probably head to that park. Other then that, either catch wishes at MK or head to down town disney, relax, and prep for the upcoming excitement!!!
