I have heard SO MUCH about Le Cellier, but have never been there . . . in two weeks I will get to eat there, so excited, but I don't want to Blow it!

OK, so their signature Filet Mignon has mushrooms on it,
fungus--not my thing.

So here are the other three beefy delights . . .

I throw myself upon the mercy of the mods. :lookaroun

I cant say enough good things about the Filet Mignon with mushroom risotto. One of the best meals I have had in a while. Really you should give it a try, but that said....if you really hate mushrooms I guess there isnt much you can do.

Oh and about desert.

Im not a big desert guy. I usually just see whats the biggest most obnoxious thing and order that (looking at you Kona Kone). But, I got the smores thing and definitely do not recommend it. Get the chocolate cake, its good.

Yes there is...tell them not to include it. They aren't going to force you to take it.

I don't like mushrooms either but it was wonderful, I really liked it and am getting it again this trip.
DD did order the prime rib and loved it. Don't forget to order a cup of the Cheddar Cheese Soup, it is out of this world and oh so yummy to dip the pretzel bread into.

For dessert I ordered the Sorbet.. it was good but I wished I would have ordered the Maple Creme Brulee after tasting DH's.

I always get the filet w/mushroom risotto. It's like crack on a plate. I can't help myself.

For dessert...I really don't know. By the time I've eaten pretzel bread w/butter and my meal I'm stuffed. I'd be sick if I eat dessert. If I *had* to have dessert I'd prob'ly order more pretzel bread and butter. Gawd, that stuff is soooo amazing....

I'm salivating now.

I did this in May 2009...it was good, but I thought the filet at Jiko was better.
My husband ordered the gnocchi, which was excellent. I think this is what I'll get when we eat there in November.

Oh, oops! Desserts.

I got the Maple Creme brulee...good, but it got super sweet at the end. I might go with the chocolate cake next time.

My husband got the seasonal sorbet (I think it was coconut at the time) and he really enjoyed it :slurp:

I think I could get the Filet every visit and never get tired of it!! DH had the NY Strip and it was excellent as well.

For desert we both had the "Moose" and that was fantastic :slurp:

I enjoyed the maple creme brulee. I'm a creme brulee fan, and this is the only place I've ever seen it w/maple flavor, so I'd say try that, as I'm not sure where else you can get it.... though I've never actually been to Canada; maybe it's all over the place up there??? Anyway, it was yummy.

Heading for the great escape.
The coffee rubbed steak was quite honestly one of the worst culinary disasters I have encountered. I would have been as well to have gargled some crushed beans, any taste of meat was destroyed and a good piece of beef ruined.

To quote Clara Peller..."Where's the beef?!?"

That filet looks tiny.

Check. One coffee-rubbed steak, rubbed out of the choices list!

Salt crust. Mmmmmm.

My opinion, and again its my personal opinion

I would go with the NY Strip.

While I do like tenderloin, I really think its overated as the "best" cut of meat. It is tender, but then there is this other thing called flavor to consider. I prefer the flavor of the NY Strip out of these choices, and I actualy like the texture. If you overcook it, it is going to be tough, but keep it nice and rare, and its just fine.

I also happen to think a filet tastes better when cooked with the bone, but then there are not Porterhouse steaks on this menu.

It's really all up to you. What cuts of beef do you like, and how do you like them cooked? Thats going to play a big difference in what cuts you order. If you only like well done steak, you should never order a hangar steak, because it will be like rubber, but if you like rare, then sit down to a big ol plate of steak frite and enjoy the magic. :)

Judging the size of a serving based on how big it looks in a photograph isn't going to give you any clue how big it is.

The filet at Le Cellier is 8oz, which is a normal serving size for filet. And that particular filet happens to be worth every succulent morsel. :slurp:
