I agree... except the topic isn't smoking but vaping... I think they should have sections dedicated to those who vape & not be group with people who smoke. For what it's worth, the limiting of vaping to designated smoking locations wasn't put in place for general health reasons, it was done for perception reasons. When someone is vaping, regardless of the health effects, it looks as though they are smoking, especially to the most impressionable demographic, children. Much in the same way Disney made a commitment to keep smoking out of their films, this was a way to keep the practice limited to areas off the beaten path. I for one would love to see smoking banned from the parks, but I can settle for the limited designated areas, as they are usually easy to avoid.
As many have pointed out, drinking is just as destructive, but there is a fundamental difference. The difference is, once the act of drinking causes someone to potentially endanger other guests, they would be kindly escorted off the premises by OCSD. The very act of smoking inherently puts other Guests as risk, yet it is allowed to continue. For that reason, I think Dismey is well justified in limiting the locations, and smokers should consider themselves fortunate to have those. No one needs to smoke to survive, it is a choice. Cars are big polluters as well, but especially in the US, they are a necessary evil. Those who choose to smoke outside designated areas, and per the park rules, this includes vapers, are breaking Disney's written policies, and should stop immediately. I don't accept excuses about there not being enough areas, it is the rule, the locations are what is provided on private property, and that should be the end of it. Everyone has the right to smoke, but they do not have the right in the Disney theme parks to do so wherever they wish. Since vaping is essentially a neutered form of smoking, it too is rightfully held to the same standard, and the rules pertaining to it should be likewise respected.
Many former smokers that use vapes, do so to curve the need to smoke.
