my first view of the castle after being away from the world for what always seems like a very long time
The American Adventure ( and I am English)
Wishes music
Seeing a Welcome Home sign
And many more!
Aside from the usual joke about "the bill", as a retired Army office I will admit that when watching wishes I always manage to get some dust in my eye.
The first steps onto Main Street giving me the first glimpse of Cinderella's Castle
Going through "One Mans Dream" and thinking about how much joy Walt's given me and my family
Listening to the song ... "Two Brothers" in the American Adventure show
Watching cute kids hugging their favorite characters
Closing my resort room door for the last time... and driving out of the resort driveway for the last time
All aboard the "leaving" bandwagon. I'd go with that and MSEP just because of the pure excitement and joy I got when I watched the parade live in its entirety for the first time this past summer.
The 'Let there be peace on earth' holiday tag at the end of Illuminations (tearing up now thinking about it)
The finale of Wishes
Movie montage end of Great Movie Ride
Seeing the Osborne lights dance
This was a one-time-only instance, but one year when Cast in Bronze performed at Epcot during the holidays I caught one of their shows. Cast in Bronze is a carillon band, a carillon being that huge set of bells you usually see at a church (for those who don't know). My favorite Christmas song is Carol of the Bells and while watching their show thought it would be cool to hear them play it. Last song, after an intro, as soon as I knew they were playing it - goose bumps, hair on end, tears flowing. My most favorite song played while at my most favorite place during my most favorite time of year.
The 'M-I-C...' tag at the end of the old ME return to MCO video - got me every time. And every time my wife would lean over as I am wiping tears off my cheeks - "Don't worry - we'll come back!"
I guess I feel saddened when the monorail returns to the TTC and you hear the narration, "If this concludes your stay at the Walt Disney World Resort.....and will return home safely".
I may be a little off topic here but one time, there was a stage show at EPCOT and there were some special needs kids in wheelchairs in the front row. The castmembers got off the stage and went down to the front row and gave those kids some one on one attention which made their eyes light up and put smiles on all their little faces. It was so heart warming to see those children so happy. My wife and I cried like babies.
As cynical and negative as I am on the boards, I like to forget that when I'm actually at the parks. As such, I catch the feels (but don't cry... usually) at:
-Wishes (rarely)
-Fantasmic (sometimes)
-IllumiNations (most of the time)
-Soarin' (on occasion)
-Finding Nemo the Musical (I'm a sucker for musical theatre, and I'm sure it will just have gotten worse since my dad died)
I prefer Uni to Disney, but Uni has NOTHING that can make me emotional like Disney can.
Wishes, Festival of the lion king either circle of life or can you feel the love tonight gets me every time! seeing the DME package is a killer, and getting on the Bus to go home that is just heart wrenching.
At the MK going under the train station and then seeing MSUSA and the castle, realizing just how fortunate we really are. Then I get misty at the Partners statue. And oh, the opening of the movie in France at EPCOT gets me every time, as does Soarin'. And if you want to see all out sobbing, check me out at the end of the movie "One Man's Dream" at DHS.
There's a point when the middle of your vacation has passed, and you realize you've been there longer than you're going to be there. That's usually the saddest part for me.
I try to stay smiling on the actual last day, since I'm usually too tired to manage another one!
the big entrance sign as you enter the Disney World Grounds.. that sign alone,, even thinking and talking about it brings me to tears.. in may , my kids counted how many times they saw me cry in 8 days.. I believe the number was like 33, 34 so about four times a day.. but most times, on the first day at that park.. but definitely leaving on the bus and going back under that over pass sign.. and at age 57, not knowing if and or when you will be coming back..
