The trail near the entrance has an area where the CM's are with the gorillas and they give them treats nd tlk bout them there and their hand comands. She gives a final on her gorilla and he knows to go to his cage where food will be witing for the night, and then on to the next. She said they know they get to eat in ther cage when given the prompt and they have to go one at a time to avoid fighting.
Divine is awesome to watch and then water fall is awesome where she is.

Rafikis Planet is a very relaxing train ride and if its the right time you can see push there and Pochahontis as well..

Dinasour fun
Kilamangaro in the morning and again in the afternoon
different animals come out both times

Eating at Yak for Dinner and TUSKER for breakfast

Just the overall feel of the park the sounds
Tree of life walk is the best you see so many animals carved on the tree and can take a while to see them you just can't stop once you
start looking.

Just a favorite if you will do other things than just the EE ride. You pid for your trip so enjoy it all and you can stay all day. If you take the eating time out and and the shorter hours for this park you will love it too once you really do it all there.
Well except for that stupid carny area outside Dino

Lion King show is the best thing in the park wonderful talent there
Nemo
Flights of Wonder is another fun one.

Ok, so I'm not really a fan of AK, but I know a lot of people really like it. I was wondering what keeps you going back there that maybe I've never noticed or whatever. I always feel like I shouldn't ignore it, but every trip that's what I seem to do. So, what are some reasons to go back?

Right now, NOTHING. :ROFLOL:

I haven't been in a couple years and don't intend to give Disney any of my money in that park until they actually add something worthwhile and/or fix that darn Yeti!

I spend my time at the other three parks. Not the half day one. :drevil:

I LOVE AK!!! Love the safari & DINOSAUR. I ADORE Everest. Haven't seen Festival of The Lion King yet but that's on my to-do list for next trip. I am amazed by the detail and the authenticity of each area that's featured.

I also frickin love Restaurantosaurus! LOL I don't know why, just the atmosphere. I love that little dining area in the back that's 50's themed.

AK rocks!

I'm a crazy Disney Fan that is #1. This park is beautiful and if you love Zoo's this is the best Zoo of any Zoo I have ever seen or probably will ever see in my life. The animals here are beautiful and you can tell are very happy and content. The Safari Ride through is the greatest experience ever just make sure to fast pass it!!! :)
We never skip AK ever if we have to skip a park it would be HS but that is only because we love AK better not because we think HS is horrible :)
You should give this park another try and get there early not late especially during summer months because this is a park where you can bake and feel the heat/humidity for sure. Another point you can get great Pictures of Characters at Camp Minnie Mickey and also just wonderful Pictures of the scenary too Hope this helps out a bit. :sohappy:

Other than the fact it's a Disney park, the safari and Expedition Everest. Flame Tree helps too, but aside from that I prefer to spend time at MK, Epcot or DHS.

A post that points out that each of us have different tastes and expectations from the 4 unique parks.

It has a lot more than a zoo, as many others have pointed out above.

But even if it were just a zoo, a lot of people go back to their local zoo over and over.

Some people watch the same movies over and over.

Some people play the same video games over and over.

Some people have the same on-line discussions over and over.

The Safari: always different (sometimes better than others), and yes I consider it a zoo (and much more); the best darn zoo EVER.

The nature walks, "Flights of Wonder", the rides, the attractions; half day park, never, (of course it could be half-day if you don't explore a bit). Sometimes you have to participate a little to get full advantage; some need the whole experience dictated to them (that's a little sad).

I am not a fan of amusement parks, I love theme parks. AK is one of the best themed parks in the world.
Many posters mentioned Flame Tree BBQ. Have you read Kristen's article on the design of it?
http://blog.touringplans.com/2011/06/29/flame-tree-barbecue/#comments

The idea of designing a restaurant and including pairs of predators/preys is so creative.
Pizzafari also has themes in each room. Beautiful paintings adorn the walls, ceilings, even the furniture.

Most of the rides in WDW are the same each time. In the AK, they differ. The trails, safari and Flights of Wonder are different every time I see them. I could never tire of them.

The Festival of the Lion King is one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. The music, acrobatics and singing are breath taking.

Conservation Station is probably the most maligned area. I have spent hours there talking to CMs about their work with the animals. I saw butterflies emerge from the cocoon, they perform surgeries there and it has the most entertaining bathroom in all of WDW.

What keeps me going back? Knowing that I will see something new everytime.

Dinosaur- I wish this attraction would get the TLC it deserves. Even with all that is wrong, it is still one of the best attractions on property.

It's Tough to be a Bug-Best 3-D show on property.

Kali-What's not fun about rapids?

Safari-Always fun.

Tusker House-Great Breakfast.

Great theming and atmosphere.

We love AK. Not only have we spent full days there but we have actually visited more then once a trip. I love everything about that park. OK I lied, we didn't really care for Nemo:The Musical. I know, I know, I will catch flack for that but so sorry just didn't like it.

Taking the train to Rafiki's and looking around, taking tons of pictures. We just see everything we possibly can. But to each their own.

The first time that I pulled into the parking lot of DAK I thought to myself, "Hey! Where's the themepark?". All I could see was trees and other vegetation (this was before EE was part of the landscape). Then I thought, "What an incredible idea. They kept the buildings at a low profile so not to take away from the trees". This simple concept was the catalyst that drew me into a whole new Disney experience like I had never seen before. Walking through The Oasis further enveloped me into the theming and then I was hooked. Another bonus for me is that I'm a huge fan of a well designed zoo and this is one of the best. Many modern zoos have built "Immersion exhibits" for their animals and DAK has some of the finest in the world. A well planned immersion exhibit places the animal into a natural environment and the guest is taken into that environment as well. Themed architecture, landscaping and sometimes even music are being used in zoo exhibits more and more to make the zoo guest feel like they've been transported to faraway, exotic lands much like Disney has been doing with theme parks for decades. The rides and shows (while admittedly few compared to the other parks) are just part of the experience for me so as far as I'm concerned, DAK is never a half day park. My visits are always from open to close and always wishing that I could have a few hours more.

Last year my family got to AK at opening and didn't leave until closing and we could have used more time... we didn't even go to a Table Service.... we just took our time and enjoyed all the Park had to offer.... it really helps when you get a travel guide or some sort of literature about that particular park and read up on all the reasons things were created, there is a reason and back story to everything. More in depth research helped enhance our experience.

We always go twice. We go to all the parks for evening EMH (although I think AK has stopped having them?) and during the day. The only park we open is HS and only because of Toy Story. Honestly for my family, our least favorite park is EPCOT. People rave about EPCOT being thier favorite park but on the crowd calendar 6 out of 7 days a weeks it is the least attended? Why is that?

We go to AK for the rides, the shows, the food, the parades, the characters and all the things that only Disney does to make the park look and feel like you are someplace magical with my family. Also those are the same reasons why we go to all 4 of the parks. I do not understand why anybody would go to Disney world and skip any of the parks.
