What it would take for Hollywood studios to be a Full Day Park!

i watched Martins history of MGM parts one and two (very, very well done by the way, good work martin:) ) and it looks like they scrapped a lot of good ideas that were originally planned for the park. Would be nice to see those, or variations of them.

I too feel it's an all day park, especially if you take in all the shows.

Actually that would be my complaint, not so much it isn't an all day park, but most of that day is spent rushing back and forth from scheduled show to scheduled show.

Maybe it does need more rides, but not necessarily really extreme thrill rides. One thing Imagineers could maybe tackle is the Backlot Tour. Keep the canyon and expand on that. Something like how Universal Hollywood has several different "Canyon-like" areas like Jaws, King Kong (before it burned), Flash Flood, the tunnel and so on. Taking the theme from a "tour" to a big effects demo attraction.

Oh and get rid of "Sounds like-nap-time", I mean Dangerous! ;)

How do you make DHS an all day park? Simple! Be fortunate enough to be selected for the American Idol Experience!

Actaully, for a first timer to the park, I agree that DHS as it is an all day park. Between the shows and attractions, there are plenty of things to do in one day there.

I have to agree, DHS is a full day park. I might not spend a full day there, but if someone is visiting the park for the first time and does everything the park offers it would take at least a day.

I am able to accomplish this every single year, in less than 10hrs too.

I mean you no ill will, but I don't believe you. Break it down for me, because I'm curious.

BTW, by major attractions, I don't mean RNRC and TOT, I mean all the established attractions that are on the map. (I would consider street shows and character greetings, shopping, etc. to be minor attractions.)

When we were there last week, we probably did 1/4 of the major attractions (no RNRC or TOT, but TSMM 2x), 1 meal, the parade and only 2 shows, and that took us 10 hours. I know how to avoid lines too.

You know, here's our usual routine and it gets done in about 8 to 10 hours.

We get into the park, grab a FP to ToT and then head back to Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage. Then, we hit Voyage of Little Mermaid and then either Animation or (if it's time for it) the Beauty of the Beast show. Then, we hit ToT (skip RnR...we don't ride it, although a good time to pick up the FP for it) and go towards our 1st table service (usually Sci-Fi Dine-In) and after hit the backlot tour and work our way back to get on Star Tours and MuppetVision 3D. From there, we head to the ALM Stunt Show and then back towards the middle of the park and get on Great Movie Ride. This is generally when we go to do a little souvenir hunting and get ready to hit our 2nd table service. Depending on what time we get out of dinner, we either go straight to Fantasmic queue (and those RnR folks can go while we wait in line) or if there's time we do something like Animation (if we skipped it earlier) before going to Fantasmic.

We don't do absolutely everything, but a good portion of the attractions with this 'plan of attack'. :D

Okay, you've done pretty good here. And I peg this at 10 hours depending on crowd conditions. Still no TSMM. You do have 1 extra table service though.

LOL - I've edited my reply about 20 times.

I will agree it is possible to do most of the Park in 8-10 hours. Of course, I must admit I've only been there during the slower times (and I usually go by myself), so that certainly makes it easier. Here's what I did last October:
1. Arrived bright and early to see the opening show
2. Meandered around Hollywood Boulevard to take pictures and video for about 30 minutes (carefully avoiding the BAH).
3. Great Movie Ride
4. Sounds Dangerous! and spent approximately 20 minutes in Soundsations
5. Indiana Jones Stunt Show
6. New York Street (approx 10 minutes)
7. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids area (approx 10 minutes)
8. Backlot Tour, plus about 10 minutes in the AFI area
9. Lunch at the ABC Commissary
10. Stars in Motor Cars Parade
11. One Man's Dream (approx. 30 minutes)
12. Voyage of the Little Mermaid
13. Animation Building (about 40 minutes)
14. Star Tours and wandered around the Muppet-Vision area
15. And then I wasted a good 90 minutes on Fantasmic!

The only thing I didn't do and wanted to do was Muppet-Vision, but then I can see it anytime here at California Adventure. While I rushed, I still made time to stop for tons of video and photos, and if I hadn't spent as much time as I did on Hollywood Boulevard, I might have gotten to Muppet-Vision and maybe had time to waste on non-essentials like Rock n' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror.

ed: I also missed Beauty and the Beast, which I wanted to go back for another day but just never found the time.

If you all are doing this in 8 hours, you're good (and the crowds are right).

But: everyone's missing 1 little thing though - TSMM. It adds 1 to 2 hours to your day, even riding only once, FP or not. Reason: Placement. It totally wrecks the get in and do RNRC/TOT in the first park hour strategy. If you do that, you're stuck with an hour+ line for TSMM, and vice versa if you do it the other way. Oh the horror!!!

1.Two more attractions at pixar Place
2.Replace sounds dangerous
3.E-Ticket ride where the backlot tour is
4.E-Ticket ride where Indiana Jones is
5.And make Star Tours 2!!!!

Hopefully Harry Potter, The Simpsons, and Hollywood Rockit, at Universal will make Disney due more to the Studios even though they don't have to .

They build Mgm in order to distract attention from Universal. So why not more rides at Disney to distract on these huge future projects.:sohappy:

I'm right there with you... I just can not seem to spend a whole day there... there is just not enough to do... and you have to wait till the end of the day to see a show... I wish they would work on your list!!!
