What it would take for Hollywood studios to be a Full Day Park!

From what I have read on these boards DHS is already a full day park due to the length of time you have to wait to ride Toy Story Midway Mania! :)

I agree with the OP. I never spend a full day at DHS. I may go back throughout vacation to do ToT or RNRCoaster again, but couldn't spend an entire day there.

I always do the above mentioned, Little Mermaid, Animation, One Man's Dream, Great Movie Ride, Star Tours and the Backlot Tour. Sounds like TSM is good, so that'll be on the list.

I saw Light, Motors, Acrton once and that was enough for me.
Indiana Jones can be seen every 3 years, since it never changes in the least.
No interest in Narnia.
No interest in Sounds Dangerous.
No interest in Beauty and the Beast.
No interest in Playhouse Disney Live.

If you like those attractions, then I can definitely see it being a full day park.

It is what it is. Whether or not someone dislikes half the attractions does not make it less than a full day park (except to that person).

It`s ironic it used to be `full day+` park as you call it with less attractions and less space 18 years ago...

For our family, it's already a full-day park.

But, when I've traveled alone, I know that I'd want at least two additional attractions to keep me busy for the full day.

You see, when I go with my family (including my two little princesses), we MUST go to the Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage along with the Voyage to the Little Mermaid. Plus, the HSM and Beauty & The Beast shows. Those are two attractions and two shows that I would skip if running around the park solo or with another adult (or group of adults). Add in the fact that if my oldest daughter wasn't interested, I probably would not go to the Indy Stunt show or the Star Tours attractions.

This drops the list of "MUST-DO" attractions to....

Toy Story Mania, Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Action Stunt Show, Backlot Tour, MuppetVision and a couple of sitdown restaurants throughout the day until Fantasmic.

So, it's close, but not just quite the full-day experience for me on my own or a group of adult friends. But, it's definitely a full-day park for a family with children. IMO. :D

On our last trip in September, we spent two full days at The Studios....and guess what? We didn't make our way on to Tower of Terror even one time, and Rock N Roller Coaster was down for refurbishment....

So that leads me to believe that the claims of DHS being a half day park are grossly exaggerated.

Even if I were there by myself, I would feel like I was cheating myself if I didn't spend at least a day in the Studios.

Every time we are there, my family and I take a chill for a good hour or two in the courtyard right in front of Muppets 3d. Sure you have the great e-ticket rides, but you also have many places to just take a chill and enjoy just being at Disney. We love it.

So, while I think there is work needed, it isn't to restore it to a full-day park, but to make it a 2-day park, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. We do usually spend a whole day at the park because we enjoy the shows as much as the big rides, but we never feel the need to go back for a second day. While we try to hit MK as much as we can... i'd go there everyday if i had the opportunity, and we always go to Epcot multiple days too. AK not so much, but i'm hoping we'll take more time to explore that park this upcoming trip.

I think because there are so many show at DHS it hurts it's re-rideability (i know that's not a word!). I think people are more likely to re-ride rides over and over again, but who really wants to sit through a show over and over again? i do think if they had more rides it would help.

When I talk to people who are going to Disney World for the first time, or the first time in years I tell them that DHS is a full day park. Because, yes there is a lot there.

For me personally though, there isn't a whole lot of repeatable stuff there. For one, I'm the only roller coster fan in my family. Which means we ride ST and GMR (and TSM when we go in September) The rest of it is shows that we have already seen multiple times. So if we find ourselves with time to kill before Fantasmic we go to the shows and enjoy them, but none of them are on our "must do" list. Its really not that you couldn't spend an entire day in the park, you can! But its really more that I just wouldn't want to. There are too many things at the other parks that I would rather be doing. So what would keep me in the park? When was the last time they updated something there? Besides putting in TSM and LMA, when was the last time they took one of those old attrations and made them better?

At Christmas time there is no problem at all with making DHS a full day park.
Christmas adds a lot to it.
:xmas:

I do wish that they would replace Sounds Dangerous with something else.
Two walruses with a guitar and a flute would be better than what's there now.
IMHO

On our next trip, the day we arrive is going to be our only DHS park.(says mother) We have a resy for Sci Fi and then for the rest of the day we are planning for ToT, RnR, and TSM then ending the night with Fantasmic. We spent a whole day at the park last August because we did not have a park hopper. We quickly grew tired of it. We did every attraction except Sounds Dangerous(we don't like it).
Plus, we haven't been to Epcot or AK for a couple years so we would like to spend a lot of time there catching up on our next trip too.

Some people had brought up some interesting facts. Yes i started this thread saying it needs to be a full day park in term of rides. Because once you see a show whats the point of going back unless its at the level of fantasmic right? Well thats just my opinion

I can comfortably spend a full day at DHS.

I guess that means I've already solved the problem! :D

That makes two of us.

When we went this past November, Disney-MGM (as it was then known) was the only park we did not go back to the resort during the day. With everything we did, we still missed a few attractions this time around. Now, with TSM and my daughter expressing interest in riding Flight of Fear up here at King's Island, Rock and Roller Coaster is now in the mix.

I suppose if you went to WDW annually or even more often, DHS may not be a full day, but for those of us who attempt to make it every 3 to 4 years, it packs a day for us.

So I guess we can say that it matters who you are to say if it is a full day park. If you take it slow, ride everything, see as many shows as you can, it is a park you can enjoy for the whole day. If you are only there to ride the e-tickets and don't bother with shows or the other attractions, the park will only be a half day park for you. Again, it is just a matter of who you are.

We easily spend an entire day at DHS. I use it as a down day since it is a little more relaxed seeing the shows. I enjoy that you don't feel obligated to rush from attraction to attraction. I could spend days enjoying the streetsmosphere acts. They're absolutely hilarious!

When we were there in early April we arrived before the gates opened, a left when they were ready to close the gates after Fantasmic.

In my opinion, Magic Kingdom and Epcot are the only ones that could be considered two day parks, but DHS should definitely be categorized as a full day park.

I spend full days there already (9am-9pm). Especially during the summer, with the lines, your going to spend the day there. Also i love going on the rides over and over again haha But really there is aloooot to do with the shows, rides, meet and greets. Id love for them to put in the Indy ride, that would make me sooo happy.
