What it would take for Hollywood studios to be a Full Day Park!

I kind of feel that that post was directed towards me so...
I know Disney is not a place for thrill seekers. I hope it will never turn out to be like that. I think DHS doesn't supply the same amount of magic that the others do. You and your whole family can spend a full day at MK, Epcot doing World Showcase and everything else, Animal Kingdom exploring what those parts of our world has to offer. I understand that at DHS you get the chance to feel like you are in the movie. I just think they need more. I'm not saying build a hyper coaster with tons of airtime themed to something Disney. I think they need a great family attraction or something.

As most have said, it already is.

That doesn't mean it can't use more, but one more decent E-ticket and it would really be rockin'.

It seems that the notion of DHS being a half day park is a matter of opinion. (Thank you captain obvious). However, I do agree with it. I am not a thrill ride person so TOT and RNRC are out for me. Indy and LMA stunt show, seen them, not much of a desire to see them again. Star Tours, simulators were cool twenty years ago. Parades, ehh. That leaves muppets, Toy Story Mania, and Fantasmic. However, I do see a lot of potential for Pixar Place and the Backlot area. Again, this is my opinion and I realize that many feel differently.

Oops. I forgot GMR. I do like that one.

I could spend all day there taking my time. There's a lot of great areas for picture-taking, some good shopping, great food (if you reserve in advance) and the rides are fun.

Problem with me is that I live within 2 hours and we mainly do day-trips. Soooo I try and get one park + EPCOT in the same day. I bet if I stayed a few days in Orlando I'd make a whole day for DHS.

^I agree. It is a matter of opinion. To add on to your list, you can't ride The Great Movie Ride twice in a day or you will hear the same script. I really think there are limited things to do there to last a full day. I guess it also depends on how fat you move around the park too.

I don't want coaster world i want E-ticket Disney Rides!

To answer the question literally, all you have to do to make it a full day park is stay the full day. There's plenty to do.

If, on the other hand, you think the park only has the Tower of Terror and RockNRoller Coaster, then none of Disney's parks are full day parks nor will they be.

This is not coaster world. I hope it never becomes coaster world.

We always plan at least 2 days here in our trips of 7-12 days. I enjoy every ride and attraction, plus the shows and restaurants! The shops are good too. Like most have said, its all a matter of opinion as to what strikes your WDW fancy in each park.

This is very true. Disney now has to compete with other Orlando attractions. This is one reason why thrill rides were added to Epcot (Test Track, Mission: Space and Soarin'). If they want to keep guests happy they listen.

Since DHS now is going to host Grad Nights and more concerts it implys that this is a young adult park. And what do young adults want? Thrills. Stunt shows aren't necessarily thrills in my book and I know that teens will always want more so if Disney plans on keeping it this way then they need to keep up with the non-Disney parks.

Personally, I think DHS is a full day park, but I can understand why others may not feel the same way. To attract more guests into the park, they need to have at least two E attractions and possibly another show/performance. It needs to be thrill rides.

Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are both 1 1/2 day Parks for me. It would be 2 for DHS, but I usually skip Rock n' Rollercoaster (can't stand Aerosmith, but I do like the coaster...just not enough to put up with their noise), Tower of Terror (sorry, I think the queue and video are cool, but the ride itself is lame), LMA (also very lame and very painful to sit through temperature-wise), the Narnia ad, and Fantasmic! (Disneyland's is amazing. DHS's is sad in comparison). So, I skip all of those attractions and yet I still find myself rushing to get in everything I want to see.
And, unlike many others, I have no dislike for Sounds Dangerous! In fact, I enjoy it quite a bit. And, I think you can enjoy The Great Movie Ride more than once a day (I frequently do, which might be why I run out of time!).
New additions to the Park would be welcome (except maybe something like, oh, say, American Idol), but they're not necessary for me to keep busy for more than a day.

1. Build Indiana Jones Adventure and compliment it with a Raging Spirits type of roller coaster just to eat up the crowds some more.

2. New and updated versions of Star Tours and Muppet Vision 3-D.

3. Add atleast two more Pixar rides to Pixar studios with a Ratatouille themed resteraunt.

4. Improve LMAX so its less lame and more action packed with more thrilling stunts.

5. I know some people won't agree with this, but I think it could be done. And that is bring back the studios where film making actually takes place. Build soundstages, outdoor sets like city streets ( seperate from the ones from the park ) and have the studio tour go through it. I don't know, but it adds so much to the park and makes it more exciting.

I think that if more attractions are going to be added to Disney's Hollywood Studios, then Disney should add attractions based on movies that are not Disney released. Seeing how successful Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and the Twilight Zone can be in the park, they should try to make rides based on other movies. Universal is using the Simpsons and Harry Potter in their theme parks so Disney should look to other films. Good rides could be based on any films such as Die Hard, The Godfather, Day After Tomorrow, Planet of the Apes, etc. Anything could be made into an excellent attraction.

Possibly in the future, a Maroon Studios could be added to the park including a Roger Rabbit Ride and mini land. Getting Roger Rabbit's presence in the theme parks increased again would be great. Pixar Place has a lot of possibilities, but it becomes overkill if every movie has a ride.

Other than that, Disney's Hollywood Studios is an excellent theme park and is bound to become even better in the future!

i LOVE DHS! in fact, fantasmic! is prob my favorite attraction.

but, it's easier to say that knowing that i get into more than just the thrill rides. where i can agree with the op is when i've taken my kids- boys between 7 and 14. that type of guest might need a bit more to keep them enthused.

one point though, is not to confuse just standing in lines that makes it an all day park. some posts made references to just kinda being busy all day (please excuse me i'm paraphrasing), waiting for shows can sometimes be longer because of specific start times, etc...

again though, the studios is wonderfull!... if you truly enjoy disney!

I think Disney would be smart to fix whatever the problem is with Amblin and get some Roger Rabbit back into the mix. There are SO many possibilities there.

I repeat my challenge (from another thread) for anybody to:

Do all the major attractions, the parade, 4 of the 6+ shows and 1 table service meal in less than 10 hours.

I think part of what makes DHS a full day park is the fact that all the shows are at specific times. If you want to see them all, you have to schedule them out.
Personally, I usually only do ToT and RNR, Muppets 3D (a couple times ) One Man's Dream, (I'm assuming as I haven't ridden yet) TSM and maybe the GMR, Star Tours and one of the musicals if it's not too crowded. The rest of the day, I just wander around and try to catch the Streetmosphere characters.
Other than that, I'm not into parades, I don't enjoy Fantasmic or the stunt shows... I usually boat over to Epcot after a while.
