What is the big deal with the Dole Whip?

It's something special you can't really get outside a Disney Park or the Dole Plantation in Hawaii, so it's special. You can get equivalents of most Disney treats at home if you want. Not the Dole Whip though. Makes it something you remember fondly and brings back all those vacation memories. Plus it tastes good.

As another person who can't stand the smell or taste of pineapple, you can imagine how shocked I was to find myself falling in love with the Dole Whip. Tried one on our third trip (after reading about them on here all the time - plus, it just looked good for some reason) and it immediately became my favourite WDW treat. Had a few more that trip and a few the next trip and can't wait to get back down there to have me another one! :D

This is one of my favourite attractions in WDW (lol)as you can tell by my avatar. One of the first things I do is get a dole whip and then I sit on the benches and enjoy it, watching people. I have met so many people just sitting in this area. It is usual the last thing I do before I leave also. I absolutely live them. One trip I had one everyday my mouth was actually starting to hurt from the acid from the pineapple juice.

I don't get it!! Not bad, but don't understand what the big deal is.

I'm sorry, I fainted...what was the question? ;)

I love the Dole Whip Float myself. There is something about its sweet and cooling effects that are perfect for a day at the parks! (Actually, there is a Munchies near me that just brought it here!! They don't do the float but I can get the Dole Pineapple soft serve! Fainted again!)

Definitely agree with this. I find them so refreshing as well, which makes them a perfect snack while enjoying the park.

I think a lot of hype is more centered around Disneyland than Walt Disney World where Dola has a stand at the Enchanted Tiki Room. There are two lines, one in Adventureland proper and another in the Echated Tiki Garden waiting area for the attraction. Having a Dole Whip or some pineapple or pineapple juice during the show is part if the Enchanted Tiki Room experience, as compared to Florida where the enjoyment of pineapple comestibles during the show is typically disallowed.

Sorry I just don't get how pineapple and ice cream go together!!!
It's not ice cream, it's frozen non-dairy dessert product.

You can get them outside the park. There is an ice cream stand in Manlius, NY, Where you can find dole whip. Exact same taste as Disney.

DH and I weren't crazy about pineapple either. But there's something about the marriage of sweetness, creaminess and ice with the Florida sun that makes a Dole Whip "hit the spot" the way little else could on a warm Disney day. We can hardly pass through Adventureland without one, now. (The citrus swirl is dynamite, too -- my favorite combo is the orange/pineapple swirl).

Had to try it to see what it was all about.....tastes like a scoop of orange sherbert I could buy in my grocery store for a lot less!

There's no way any container of packaged and frozen sherbe"r"t could have even remotely the same consistency as what comes out of a soft serve machine. But that's beside the point. How often do you think of eating sherbe"r"t when you're at home on the couch? You get it when it's hot and you're in Disney :)

Also, sherbe"r"t
