yes Epcot Center did gain numbers with the addition of characters but that was in the 80's when people had no idea what epcot center was about. Now Epcot has become a household name, people know what its about and they know what to expect. Most people I know consider Epcot to be the most "adult attractive" charming park that it is... that doesnt mean that there shouldnt be plenty for kids to enjoy but it also doesnt mean that nearly every attraction need a character "tie-in". I think the fact that epcot isnt full of "warm fuzzies" is what sets it apart from the rest of the parks and makes it unique. I like to think of it as the reality based fantasy park. :animwink: just my opinion

Hey guys, I dont think a Monster Inc thing will ever happen at Epcot UOE. Ellen doesnt seem that dated to me, its less than 10 years old. I hate it when people post ficticious rumors on here just to get attention. Be careful of that everyone.

well that makes me sad. i hate that the ellen/bill aspect of the ride is up for question right now. although, i can see where it is dated. i for one have never seen monsters, inc., so i already pretty much don't like that idea at all. rides that involve celebrity actors have always been my favorite, especially at epcot (i.e., cranium command, etc.). oh well, it should be interesting..

Remember too that Monsters, INC. focused on the relevant nature of laughter, in this particular case as a resource for energy. If you want something that can appeal to a large audience, a movie that focuses on both frightening elements to ellicit screams and humorous elements to ellicit laughter could be great.
I'm not saying where a Monsters, INC. ride should be put, I'm just saying it offers alot of dynamics w/theming and emotions that other movies do not. It blends fantasy and reality, good and bad, emotion and rationality, and yes, energy and resources.
Plus, personally I love a few classic rides, but this definitely was not one of them. Sorry to those whom don't feel the same way.

I'm sure this is going to be the the rumored Monsters Inc redo that has been rumored for years. Its a perfect fit. I'm sure this will be green lit immediately following guaranteed hugely successfully reopening of the living seas nemo re-theme. Disney will look at the giant crowds at living seas and simply copy that formula into Energy.
Please no Monsters Inc. Its time to show the world a serious look at the Energy problems Global Warming etc. And cute little monsters is not the way to go. Epcot is a place to make sense of the world, now the World makes less and less sense every day and Epcot is following. Monsters Inc would be another nail in Epcots coffin.

No if Global Warming were actually true...... THAT would be an exciting attraction! :)

-Disclaimer - Iam not claiming GW isn't real... But the 'causes' aren't.

I didn't realize this was a thread bump until re-reading my own post from 2005 back on page 3.

If I'm not mistaken the rumor at the time was that Universe of Energy and Wonders of Life would be replaced by one massive attraction sponsored by Dupont. I believe Screamscape was the lone source keeping that rumor alive.

I think right now Monster's Inc has little to know chance as a tie in for Universe of Energy considering it already exists in Tomorrowland as the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, and is rumored to be coming to Pixar Place in the form of an inverted coaster. However, for the sake of argument, if this rumor did have a shed of truth to it, I'm guessing the tie in would be as such. The Monster's Inc characters would be introduced by saying that they were able to solve the energy problems in their world, and now they're looking to help solve the energy problems in the human world. Rather than looking at Laughs or Screams they'll discuss what Ellen and Bill Nye discussed in terms of different energy sources. It could easily work, and given our current energy crisis, could be a very relevant and almost necessary update.

With all this said, I enjoy the current incarnation of Ellen's Energy Adventure, but if the goal is to educate the next generation on the future of energy, I'm guessing a lot of that is going over there head.

Lastly, I fully support the idea of changing Future World to Discovery World or Discoveryland.
