What is most likely to be built between 7DMT and Avatar?

Well it's every year if you only go back 2 years and start with 2013;). Maybe they are starting a new wave of building and growth...the wave could end this spring:(

I sincerely hope they stop all of this DVC building crap, and actually get back to dominating the theme park industry.

Can't overloook the Animal Kingdom night time show, which was a caveat in my thread. I'm hoping it will be on the level of World of Color, which would definitely satisfy my desire for a new amazing attraction at WDW.

I am looking forward to that as well. On that note, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new parade at DHS before 2017 (in particular, getting the Pixar one currently at DCA).

Why can't we get something as amazing as Mystic Manor? Or Grizzly Gulch? Who knows... Maybe SDMT will wow us. I sure hope it will. I am, however, excited for Avatar. I think it looks promising, but it is so far off that it almost depresses me. I wish they could build it sooner.

Me too. I think it was far exceed the expectations of this board, whether or not people on here will admit it when that time comes. I'm shocked how low expectations are for it.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Maybe to you...but I thought it was cute and kept in the Capt. Jack legacy. At worst it is a detracted attraction. Physically it exists and wasn't there just a little while ago.

The Captain Jack legacy is a PG-13 film series. That embarrassment is like an episode of Dora the Explorer utilizing tech that would impress me in a ride preshow.

Wow 5 years between new attractions. I didn't realize it was that long. Unacceptable.
This would also be the longest gap between E-Tickets in Walt Disney World History:
1971: Magic Kingdom
1973: Pirates of the Caribbean
1975: Space Mountain
1980: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
1982: Epcot
1983: Journey Into Imagination, Horizons
1989: Hollywood Studios
1992: Splash Mountain
1994: Tower of Terror
1998: Animal Kingdom
1999: Kilimanjaro Safaris, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
2003: Mission: SPACE
2005: Soarin'
2006: Expedition Everest

I'm sure I'm missing some things, but the biggest gap I see is between Space and Thunder Mountain. The infrastructure improvements and the entirety of Next Gen have a motivation other than Guest Satisfaction. This is during a time when Universal has promised to build a new E-Ticket attraction every year. Disney is financially capable of competing with Universal, but there is an unwillingness for them to do so.

It's at the point where I'm trying to determine whether or not Disney executives simply don't care about the parks, or if they're simply too jaded to think that the parks will forever be a cash cow without investment. It took Disney 18 months to build a Meet and Greet inside an existing building. There were no moving parts installed, it was 18 months of demo and staging. Meanwhile, in 14 months, Universal demolished a building and then built Transformers 3D.

Of course. They have to build more DVC's. Didn't you know that is where the money is at? :cautious:

But most of those rides were to fill out a recently built park. Pirates, Space Mtn, and Big Thunder for MK, JII and Horizons, Living Seas for Epcot, TofT and RnRC for MGM(DHS), Kilimanjaro and Everest for AK. The only real expansion rides to established parks were Splash Mtn and Soarin (Space replaced Horizon). So now New Fantasy Land has replaced the long extinct 20k Leagues and Snow White with LM and 7D. In a few years there will be Avatar and eventually Star Wars. The pattern is really no different than the last 40 years.

Also remember, Universal is tearing down or retheaming for many of their new rides. Any time Disney does this, the fans revolt. A large population of adults like taking their kids to Disney to experience the same shows and rides they did as a kid. Universal does not have that same nestalgia so they keep reinventing themselves. Harry Potter was obviously a big boon for them, but it has not been proved yet if all of their other investments will yield similar results.

DVCs effectively pay for themselves and keep more people on property. This increases park attendance and spending per quest. This in return helps to justify park expansion. Like it or not, it's a lot easier to justify building a DVC than a ride.

So while you might prefer rides over DVCs, It only makes sense to build DVCs while there is strong demand and then to add rides and park capacity when DVC sales slow or the parks are at full capacity.

Even when they cannot fill the DVC's they already have? o_O

#2 is a strong possibility. #4 is probably 50/50 between new show or no show at all. I can't see them breaking ground for Star Wars for at least a year and more likely 2. I wouldn't be surprised if the new movie came out before a shovel hit dirt. If it gets fast-tracked somehow your options in #1 are very likely to be considered phase 1.

The only thing we know they will build for sure is another DVC at the Poly. That will be open several years before Avatar.
Actually, #2 is one of the weakest possibilities. I've talked to my father about this who's high up in Disney management for engineers, and he said the idea has been thrown around for ages, but it's just too much work for it. I always think there's a possibility, but I highly doubt a new screen video for Soain'
