What is in the old Journey Into Imagination scene locations?

They say they have money trouble and they could of saved thousands maybe even millions by leaving that one ride alone. I saw nothing outdated in that ride. Look at Its a Small World for crying at loud... It is a dinosaur and everyone still loves it, it wouldn't be a crime to keep the original ride, maybe just update some hardware, image works and the imagination station and polish up some cosmetics. Spaceship Earth was due for an upgrade, Horizons I think could of used a polish up and everything can loose the 80s interior but Journey into Imagination with Dreamfinder to me is a timeless classic. The new Journey is going to get old in another few years and is going to be an Early Millennium leftover like interior of the wonders of life pavilion.

It is so interesting how on these message boards there is such polar opposites of opinions on so many different topics. Fastpass, the end of spaceship earth, stitch's great escape, overall impression of epcot, etc.

But one thing I've found is that the subject of the Journey into Imagination and subsequent updates to it, it is nearly agreed on by every single person on these message boards.

You can always find people who will admit to liking things like the end of spaceship earth (I am one who does like it), or stitches great escape, etc.

But I would think it would be hard to find anyone on here who would say they like the current ride in Imagination, especially when comparing it to what it used to be.

Thats the thing if you don't compare it to the old version it is a nice little D-ticket. If you do compare though, I mean just look at the diagrams it went from a super E to an ok D.

When someone who never rode the original comes along, is fairly new to the Disney info plethora, sees people talk, then takes the time to compare the ride-thru's I'm quite sure the first thought in their minds would be, "Ooooh...I wonder who got sacked over THAT one!" It just feels like a plain old mega-oops. What were they thinking???? The original was so incredible how did they ever think the new abbreviated version could possibly be received other than boooo-hisssssss??? Major oversite, fellas. Major. :brick:

Ahh! I disagree 100%. I went last May with 9 friends who had never been on it before, and the entire time they sat there looking at everything with a look of "Are you kidding me?" on their faces. Afterwards they all said to me, "What the heck was that? Why did you drag us on that thing?" I tried to tell them that the original was amazing, but they won't even listen to me because they hated it so much. It became the "joke" of the trip..."Remember Figment? What a mess!!"

I took my 8 year old niece, without dissing the ride beforehand because she liked the Figment stuffed animals, and she thought it sucked.

And whenever anything goes from a super E to an "ok" D its an immediate failure. No matter what. And calling it an ok D is really being to kind.

What an epic fail. Why they even thought to eliminate 2 major characters not to mention... very popular characters and they thought they could pass off with the Eric Idle replacement. I can live without horizons, wonders of life and live with spaceship earth the way it is even you know it has no ending but when they take away the original Journey into Imagination (a timeless classic) that is my limit. As sad it is to say I think my favorite future world ride is between Living with the land and Soarin.

My 7 and 3 year old daughters thought it was a waste of time. I knew it was but didn't try to influence their opinion in any way. I thought they might think it was fun. The only attraction they were more bored with was HISTA. We'll never visit the pavilion again until something changes.

I don't know if anybody else sees it this way, but I think the lighting is one of the major problems on this ride. Not in the sense that you can't see, but that you can see too much(track, ceiling, utilities, etc.) The queue and the load are too bright as well. No atmosphere. Same with the queue and load for TSMM. I felt like I was in a warehouse lit by flourescents. Highlight what should be seen and create an atmosphere with lighting. That should be a given on a Disney attraction.

Be cheap; turn off all the lights for the majority of the ride and throw some blacklit cardboard cutouts up, with inventive music/sound effects. It would be a major improvement.

Wow, for a second there, seeing the maps, I kinda felt like that episode of Lost where Locke saw the black-lighted layout of the island....Still sad, though, what happened to that pavillion, as well as several others that I still think would do well to this day....The number of people that would probably agree with that or more proves it.

I agree. I hate that you can easily see the track and everything around the attraction. There's not much of that classic "Disney Magic" to it. The atmosphere is pretty lame.

Heck, I just hate this ride altogether hahaha

Your so definitely right. I am not the one to complain but when good quality is replaced with average that upsets me. Epcot was supposed to make people thing and learn and get the creative juices flowing but now it just feels dull.

I fondly remember the older version of this ride and last year (after many years absence from the world) took my 6 yr old daughter on it thinking she would love it - How wrong was I - the new ride scared her to death with the pitch black bits.

I'm sorry to hear that :( It's definitely become an "Avoid" ride for me unless I'm doing it for the sake of doing everything in Epcot

A sad situation, but a funny story. :)

I wish they would too. It has been a year since I have been here and I still find that people DO NOT Like this ride. I was hoping that competition would inspire Disney to restore Imagination but it looks like Disney is ignoring what other parks do but then, there has not been much competition anyway. For example, when the new Hard Rock Park opened The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin, The Trip was maybe 1/3 as good as imagination, which might motivate Disney to redo Imagination. Unfortunately, that park went under and now there is some cheeeeap Monsters of Rock ride made out of cardboard. Even so, people are saying stuff like "I would give anything to have Nights in White Satin back". Meanwhile, there is the World of Harry Potter and what is Disney going to do to compete? It looks like nothing. I thought competition in business was the American way!

Oh, and the ride with Figment they have now, you can go to a local amusement park and get a dark ride better than that.

If the day comes that Disney will restore JII, when they put the wall up they should leave one side of the pavilion so people can see inside, to show that they have gutted the building so we won't have another imaginary disaster.
