what is it.. what does it cost. is it worth the price.. or does it fall in the free dining range, if I take it.. .

It's a very corny, but extremely funny dinner musical show. Food is very good, best strawberry shortcake I've ever had, includes all the beer & wine you want. They do a good job of getting the audience involved, and is very entertaining for all ages. It is available on the free diing, but counts as 2 TS credits. Very well worth it, in my opinion.

You can use it on the dining plan, it's just worth 2 table service credits, instead of one. I'm not sure if that's changed with the Free Dining Plan promotion.

Personally, we loved it! The food is what I consider Southern....fried chicken, pork ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans, strawberry shortcake. All very YUMMY!

The show was fabulous, full of music, dancing and humor. I give it a 2 thumbs up! Definitely worth the money and worth 2 table service credits.

It's a dinner show with corny songs, corny jokes and a bit of audience participation thrown in for good measure. The food is BBQ style, all you care to eat and, IMHO, quite yummy. :slurp: My family loves to go and relax for awhile after the parks.

There's a lot of confusion above about "free dining." Bottom line, there are NO RESRICTIONS. "Free dining" means that with your package you are getting the Disney Dining Plan at no extra cost.

The Disney Dining Plan gives you a certain number of meals and snacks for the duraton of your resort stay package (the details of which differ by level of the plan: Quick Service, Basic, Deluxe, Platinum).

Whether you get the DDP for free or pay for it, it makes NO DIFFERENCE. In other words, there's no such thing as "You can use the DDP at this restaurant, but not if you booked the free DDP ... you have to PAY for the DDP to use your credits here" ... no such thing.

I'm not a fan of Hoop Dee Doo Revue. I'll never go there again.

BUT ...

... don't let that stop you. I'm very aware, now, that it's just not my thing. I'm just not entertained by "country" humor. I'm not against it in any way, I just am not entertained by it. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's a low quality show ... it's just not my idea of a good time, that's all.

It's clear that the performers work very hard and are full of energy and talent.

I have to say, though, that I was very disappointed by the food. It may have been my particular batch of food, but I was very disappointed. I'm used to ribs that melt off the bone, but the ribs we had were Krazy-Glued to the bones and the meat we were able to gnaw off was tough. The fried chicken was on the dry side (the meat was dry ... I'm not saying that the outside wasn't greasy enough :ROFLOL:). The beer included in the price is Bud Light. I'm a self-admitted beer snob ... I can't drink Bud Light ... I think Diet Coke is a better beer than Bud Light:eek:. The sangria was undrinkable, to my taste.

I can't imagine that the ribs are always tough and the chicken always dry, because I'd read rave reviews of the food before I was there.

My son was 5 at the time we saw the show. One of my favorite memories of that first trip to Disney was when the curtain opened at one point to reveal all the food servers on stage, holding family-sized portions of strawberry shortcake that were destined to be served by those folks to their tables. My five year old had this huge smile and he stood up and said to me, "Daddy! LOOK! Dessert, live on stage!!!" Love that memory.

I LOVE the Hoop Dee Doo! It's great fun. My husband even had a great time and dinner theater is not his thing. If you do go, try to get a table as close to the stage as possible and make sure to tell them if you're having a birthday or anniversary.

I think people were just trying to let the OP know that they will be using 2 of their table service credits instead of just one. This applies to the dining plan regardless if it is free or not. I don't know if the OP knew that so it is something to consider if you have the dining plan.
