I always thought it was just some conservation show, and i heard the other day that its actually a ride, is that true? if it is, is it a good ride? Is it worth checking out on my trip next week? I'm only there for a day and we werent planning on stopping by epcot, but now that i heard this, i'm intrigued, so is it worth stopping by epcot to check it out? and if anybody has some pictures please post them I would love to see what it looks like inside, thanks

It's a very unusual combination of a show and ride. When you enter, (After the pre-show), you are seated in an enormous circular room. The seats that you occupy will eventually break up into traveling sections. You are shown a film starring Ellen D. and Bill Nye (The "Science Guy") that combines scientific stuff about energy with a fantasy theme. It's actually very funny and quite interesting for everyone that is more than about 10 years old. At the end of the film segment Ellen is "transported" back to the "Time of the Dinosaurs" and the theater breaks into sections and travels through a second room where animatronic dinos are arranged in displays. You wind up in a third room where the film continues its story (Now with a Jeopardy theme). Eventually the traveling seats move one more time into the original room where the film concludes. The whole experience takes 1/2 hour, and you cannot leave once it begins.

We used to go every time we went to Epcot (every few years), but now we only do it if we have two days. The show is always exactly the same and filmed attractions hold limited repeat value for my family. In my opinion, it's one of the best of the Epcot attractions for appealing to everyone in the family because although it's a ride, it moves very slowly so everyone can go. I would call it more of a traveling theater attraction than a ride. Everyone will probably enjoy it the first time, and the technology behind the traveling theater is facinating.

I'm a big Ellen fan so we do this every trip. When my son was young, it was a great place for him to take a power nap in air conditioning out of the hot August Florida sun. Ten years later it is still a great respite from the sun and a fun show.

We usually visit Ellen's Energy Adventure every time we're at WDW. We really enjoy the fantastic musical score, and great special effects.

Also, it is a great ride to do right after lunch when it is fairly hot outside, and everyone's tired. It is a great, 45-minute break from the heat.

Also another big plus for this ride is, it's air conditioned. On hot days, it's a 30 min way to cool down a bit.

It's not a bad attraction... it's got some humor to it, but it runs on way too long. You could look at that as a good thing or a bad thing. Good because, as mentioned in prior posts, it's a heck of a way to get some ice cold air during the many hot months. Bad because it really does eat up a big chunk of your day. I will admit that if the sun and humidity are really beating me up, I will go in there for a quick nap :lookaroun

The only thing good I can say about it, is that you can get out of the sun and sit in the AC. Other then that, it is a complete waste of 30 mins. This is one attraction that needs to be somehow updated or replaced....FAST!!!

I like this ride. It is a little dated, but not in a bad way. You can still enjoy the ride and learn the lesson you're supposed to learn. If you have time I would stop in and see it. Plus, there isn't a long wait.

In my opinion, one of the best attractions at Epcot.

I don't care what anyone else thinks!

VERY Disney

Ellen's Energy Adventure is a hotel located inside Epcot. I hear they have very comfortable sleeping quarters at minimal cost.

...What? Ride vehicles? Oooooooh... :lookaroun

I guess it's a must-see for any Bill Nye fan (which includes me).

It's worth seeing just for the orchestral score, imo. :D

It's a dinosaur of ride (pun intended) that will probably be next on the chopping block. Ride it now while you can. It will will soon be extinct just like WOL and WOM. It's unfortunate, because I do enjoy it, but I've never seen it full nor with a wait.

I always really enjoyed it! To me, it is a great change of pace and something that is still true to the main theme of the whole Epcot concept. I hope it stays around for quite awhile.

The guide map does say it's a 45-minute long attraction, not 30 minutes people!!!! :animwink:

I love Ellen's Energy Adventure! I think Ellen has a great sense of humor! Clean humor too! Whether she's doing something for Disney or ABC or if it's one of her early stand-up acts. I really appreciate that she doesn't think she has to be crude to get laughs.

Bill Nye is great too! And they play off each other extremely well!

Don't forget about Jamie Lee Curtis's appearance as Stupid Judy!!!
