What if Disney went dry......

I liked it better when the old park where you were allowed to drink was Epcot in the World Showcase.
If the parks went dry I wouldn't mind one bit.
When people drink sometimes they make bad decisions and lose their inhibitions which leads to them doing stupid and sometimes dangerous things at the parks.

I absolutely LOVE a cold beer with any meal but I really would not mind at all. I would be slightly disappointed if the World Showcase went dry I guess, I am not a binge drinker by any means but I do enjoy sampling different types of beers from around the world, on any vacation! :)

It's a nice add-on for me, being able to enjoy a beer with lunch or dinner in the parks, but it wouldn't diminish my overall Disney experience in the slightest if there was no alcohol available.

Yeah that’s why I think it’s cool having it at restaurants at MK and AK. Epcot I get it because, well, that’s Epcot now. It’s as much for people wanting to get some round the world drinks as it is for kids to ride Figment and Frozen. A cold beer on some hot days there can definitely hit the spot. As can some of the frozen drinks. I just wouldn’t want drink stands popping up all over the other parks just for the sake of chasing some easily marked up product.

I really hate that Epcot has become the place for grownups to get wasted. Waiting in line for a bathroom in the evening in WS reminds me of spring break in Cancun. Lots of sloppy drunks trying hard to hold their pee. It's obnoxious. I don't mind the booze in the restaurants but the fact that every park has kiosks everywhere that you can get booze is ridiculous. If you can't enjoy walking around WDW without a drink in your hand, then maybe WDW isn't for you.

I don't mind there being alcohol in the parks, but I am tired of the groups of people at Epcot with matching drinking / drunk t-shirts, like that's all they're there for.

Agreed. I saw a noticeable increase in drinking related shirts on my last trip. There's something not quite right about seeing a T-shirt with a drunken Mickey on it, accompanied by a related slogan in the iconic Disney font.

If anyone has any vids of drunks in Epcot, please share.
"Drink around the world" seems to be an entire Youtube sub-genre among vloggers... and having watched a few, I'm going to issue the blank statement that they are all terrible, horribly obnoxious and can only make non-millenials hate that generation even more.

Not spending more than 30 seconds looking, here's the only non-vlogger drunk Epcot videos I could find:

There's another video of a guy dancing during a British Invasion performance labled as "drunk", but he just appears happy to me.

Personally I'm so over being around drunks and not quite drunks; I've had to deal with them at the majority of my jobs and I'd love for them to not be at the Parks. I don't find them funny, charming or good company.

But I also know Disney won't do anything until something huge happens, and many Americans are just not going to change their minds on the appropriateness of public drunkenness at Disney until we start changing the way we treat alcohol and teaching about responsible drinking.

Does it really bother you what someone else is wearing? How does that impact your fun? Who cares just enjoy your time with your friends and family.

...and just for the record I would personally never be caught dead in one of those shirts

I agree with this. Prohibition is not the answer, we tried that. People need to learn how to drink responsibly but I don’t see that happening any time soon. The one thing Disney could do is they could limit the amount people drink and cut them off when they have obviously had too much. That’s a lot of responsibility on bartenders, waiters and people working at the drink carts. I’d actually say eliminating the drink carts would probably help a lot. If people want to get wasted they will find a way, but they don’t need to make it overly easy. At least at a bar or restaurant the CMs get a longer time to observe behavior and determine if someone needs to be flagged. At a drink cart it’s a 2 minute interaction.

I think someone else mentioned, earlier in the thread, a good idea. Limit drinks to 2 or 3 per person (I think 2 would be better), tie drink limits to the Magic-Band or physical ticket (not the RFID itself but the ticket number, since some (like myself) still use the Magic-Band 1, which fortunately still works for touch-access), require a Magic-Band or ticket scan in order to obtain an alcoholic beverage. I definitely support something like this, because while you could get around it if determined enough, it'd require an extra step for people to get their alcohol and some might decide it's not worth the trouble to bother their party members for alcohol. It does bring up some problems (what about large parties who have 3 or 4 members that want to get drinks, for instance?) but that's easily resolved by requiring each party member to scan their ticket or band and only allowing one drink per scanned band.

I like the idea of removing drink carts... as long as the one by the Rock'n'Roller Coaster isn't counted, because that's the only place Tito's & Frozen Lemonade can be found, as far as I know.

Dry as in no alcohol! Obviously this isnt a proposal, petition, or soapbox (I enjoy a nice beer or cocktail) but how would you feel IF it did happen.

I would prefer it. Simple as that. I know several people that go to WDW and DL and the husbands ( and one wife) can only think of one thing from the beginning. Alcohol. Where to get alcohol, how fast can they get it when they get there, and how much arguing are they going to have to do with their families over their drinking? If you go to Disney and the very first thing on your mind is "Where can I get beer?" you might have a problem. I know, I know... "I am an adult and I prefer an adult beverage." Yeah..... we get it. You're a grown up.
