What I think...as of today...for now...

I'm just the only person who was brave enough to take the personal insults and say we think Disney is destroying the FLE's aesthetics.
Hows about you wait until you perhaps see some new art before deciding that anything is being destroyed. You might actually like the new version better...

I love that the meet and greets have been scaled back a bit but now we are going to have THREE coasters with in a few feet of each other (Space, Dumbo Barnstormer and and the Mine coaster) which is making me wonder if this isn't just a we can top this with a coaster type of move.
How much of a "coaster" it actially is remains to be seen. Don't assume it is purely a coaster.
Lee do you know if all the development and research for the new ride is done already or will it be clone of something just re-themed? It would seem that with a limited budget to work with that we could get a Primeval Whirl type ride in the dark?
Yes, the ride is not a brand new concept. It has been in the planning stages for another park for a while, and is being sped up to open first at MK.
It is not a clone of an existing ride, nor is it a retheme of anything.
The budget will be fine. Don't worry about that.

I'm afraid. Very afraid. :lookaroun
Don't be. The "meddlers" in this case are the good guys.

(The local Six Flags loves to add coasters to try and boost the media buzz.)

My hunch, and this seems to supported by some of what Lee has heard, is that "coaster" is not the correct term for this. I envision something like the Callico Mine Ride, which I have not been on for at least 15 years, but have fond memories of. I think it will be a dark ride, on mine cars. Mine cars run on rails, so we often think coaster, but that's not what I am envisioning. Of course, this is all speculation, but I think our use of the term "coaster" may prove slightly inaccurate. And, I agree, a coaster is probably not what is needed in FLE, but a Fantasyland style dark ride on mine cars, sounds awesome.

I hope I do. But of course I would hate to find out everyone was wrong after the fact.

This makes me more optimistic about WDW than I have been in a long time.

I guess any mine car ride will kill any prospect of that Indy mine car ride (the one that turned into Grizzly Trail) ever coming to MK :(

Well....if that happens, it happens.
Nothing we say here can/will have any effect on it at all anyway.

You know, the whole "accept the things you can not change" deal.

^This info intrigues me, but we can't be talking about a kid-friendly version of Tokyo's JTTCoTE, can we?

Thanks for everything Lee!

No, no.
Nothing on that scale. WAY smaller.
The Journey concept still lives, but for another time in another park.

A thought on the possibility on the expanded Dumbo's Circus area that might actualy make me excited for this section of the park...

There are several rumors in the Broadway theatrical circles that Disney Theatrical is looking at working with the puppeteers from War Horse to create a Dumbo musical.

Any chance that the sources are mixing up Theatrical and Entertainment? The thought hit me last trip to WDW that the Festival of the Lion King format would be a great way to present Dumbo's Circus in the parks. I know I'd go nuts for a show like that with elephant puppets like the horses in War Horse.

Seems silly to me to not use the current one unless there is some reason that it is not possible
Anything is possible but it is not always practical. There are a number of reasons that I can think of to build 2 new spinners vs using one old one and one new one.

The last info I had on this was that they would both be new, and the old one would continue to operate until the switch-over to give very little downtime. Also make sense to have both new Dumbos using the same hardware - easier for parts and maintenance going forward.

This makes sense and I guess It would make sense to make them bigger. The art shows one to be larger than the other but then again it is just concept art.
