What I think...as of today...for now...

He got that one wrong...but when a guy with his credentials speaks, attention must be paid.

Interesting. I'd never heard anything of his background, read the occasional interesting insight from him, and it just really seemed to stick out when he was so insistent on the wand not coming down that it was to the point of being kind of a jerk about it. The wand came down, and it seemed about then that we stopped hearing anymore inside info from him, so... I don't know

No idea why he was so adamant about the wand thing.
By that time he was fully retired, I believe, and maybe not completely in that loop.

But, hey....anyone who's work can be found at TDS...I give them a little courtesy break.:D

I don't remember much of that, but I know his wife had some health problems. It's possible real life pulled him away from this place.

Yeah, I'd had no idea he'd been involved in DisneySea. That definitely deserves some respect.

That is unfortunate to hear. I hope everything turned or turns out for the best for him.

well this is only the beginning :drevil:

hopefully I can help some more on other things...
You were quieter in the beginning of this thread than in the other threads...I took that as a good sign for the FLE!

LEE is a cool guy
This ^

To all who want this jt guy to shut up and leave; to all who are constantly retaliating against every word he says, I have some advice for you: don't reply to him.
And this ^

Wow, I had no idea Corrus had worked on TDS! Lee, do you happen to know what sort of hand he had in it?

It seemed was wrong about a lot of the stuff he said, and the problem was his attitude made it even worse. Talked like Pumbas but his tongue wasn't in cheek. I remember reading that he said his wife had passed away, real shame. Hopefully, he could stop by sometime at least to say hi.

Highly likely nothing would have been announced at D23 if the blueprints hadn't already leaked.
They weren't entirely ready for that...

That makes me chuckle.

I'm a pro-Disney kind of guy (obviously). And I'm also supportive of big American companies in general who have played a vital part in providing our fabulous lifestyles of the past 200 years via the great American Free Enterprise system.

But I just can't help but chuckle at the thought that the leaked blueprints for FLE that set this community on fire back in '09 were also cause for great alarm in the halls of Glendale and Burbank and Orlando office buildings. I just laugh at that thought for some reason.

No one said they wanted it, I simply said that maybe they are reviving it for the east side of FLE. And by the models and art that was released (IDK where it was) it seemed really neat.

I have a very foggy memory of looking at the models for Dumbo's Circus at the Disneyland Preview Center in the late 1970's. I remember being transifxed by the little balloon ride that went over the hill from Storybookland and into the space now occupied by the Big Thunder Ranch restaurant and petting farm. A Double-Dumbo was not part of the plans, that's a new one created just for WDW and FLE.

I couldn't find any pictures on a quick Google search of Dumbo's Circus as proposed for Disneyland in the 1970's, but I found this description taken from the official Disneyland Cast Member newsletter from 1973...

"Moving from "Discovery Bay" to "Dumbo's Circus" would be accomplished by a sky-balloon attraction that would serve as an appropriate transition between the two areas. Among the proposed attractions in "Dumbo's Circus" are "Mickey's Mad House," a ride-through using vintage Studio cartoon footage from the 1930's and 40's; an Audio-Animatronic circus show with Disney Characters taking over traditional "Big Top" roles; and a Pinocchio-themed attraction." http://disneylandcompendium.blogspot.com/2009/12/discovery-bay-teaser.html

No Double-Dumbo to be found there. And the skyway themed as balloons never materialized, nor did the animatronic circus show. The Pinocchio attraction materialized in 1983 in Disneyland as Pinocchio's Daring Journey, but it showed up in Fantasyland proper, wedged between Snow White's Scary Adventures and the Village Haus restaurant.

The only thing that survived Disneyland's Dumbo's Circus proposal

You do realize everything Lee disliked was unanimously disliked by Disney park fans & guests. It was incredibly narrowminded and half-baked. If you watch the D23 video you can hear cheering and clapping when he says "Fantasyland expansion and instantly everyone goes silent when he says the expansion is mostly princess meet & greets you even hear a few akward laughs because people thought it was just a joke.
Unanimously would be too strong of a word there.

While I think what has been now communicated is better, I had no problem with the original plans.

Therefore, you have a break from your unanimous statement.

Only Sith deal in absolutes.

Somewhat, but it's not something I feel comfortable sharing. He obviously didn't want his true identity made public, and giving out detalis about his work might have that result.

It is kinda funny. I knew it was an issue for them when the prints suddenly disappeared from here so quickly.
I also will never fully understand the need for so much secrecy about such things. It a theme park full of rides, not top secret government plans.

JT, can you please stop pointless arguing with people. It gets tired seeing post after post of back and forths, and you always seem to be in the middle of it. We eradicated a few posters who were doing the same thing a few months back, and currently you are the only one left around here doing it.

Well Corrus was perhaps the highest ranked insider ever to be found on a Disney forum. You don't get much more inside than he was.

Shame that people make judgements about people without having anywhere near a fragment of a fact.

No doubt about that. I agree 100%. :animwink:

Regarding the previous post....

I just remember the buzz when the FLE was announced. The boards were filled with excitement including WDWMagic. And not just because we were finally getting the first substantial investment in a decade but because the artwork was so beautiful. If they can duplicate that beauty in the new plans I'm all for it. I just don't see how Circus-land can trump PH aesthetically. Same for the SWSA reimagining being more pleasing to the eye than the Chateau/Millhouse.

So, I will heed your request respectfully and stop passionately expressing this opinion in my unique way.:zipit: I know for a fact I'm not the only person who feels this way. I'm just the only person who was brave enough to take the personal insults and say we think Disney is destroying the FLE's aesthetics. And I have the bruises, bullet holes and protruding arrows to prove it.

I've been marinating on the whole Dwarf's Mine Coaster/Ride and I think I'm starting to get a picture in my head of how it would fit into the themeing for the rest of the expansion.

I'm picturing the Fantasy Forest as we've had it described to us...and as you travel through it you come upon a rock facing...two large double doors open inviting you into the mine itself as the que gives the impression as you travel through it that you are walking deeper and deeper into the mine...eventually coming across the mine cars that will take you safely to the end of your adventure.

I know it's cheeseball...but it's how I see it in my head.

PH really had 1 ground ride (maybe) and a meet and greet. Nothing much was there to begin with.

And although I was a huge chateau fan, I think Seven Dwarfs mine will be just as awesome.

JT, just trust WDI.

Sorry so late to the conversation.

Wow thanks so much for the information Lee.

But I feel so conflicted about what we are hearing.

I love that the meet and greets have been scaled back a bit but now we are going to have THREE coasters with in a few feet of each other (Space, Dumbo Barnstormer and and the Mine coaster) which is making me wonder if this isn't just a we can top this with a coaster type of move. (The local Six Flags loves to add coasters to try and boost the media buzz.)

Lee do you know if all the development and research for the new ride is done already or will it be clone of something just re-themed? It would seem that with a limited budget to work with that we could get a Primeval Whirl type ride in the dark? Or is it maybe the much talked about Indy clone finally coming over to the Magic Kingdom just in Fantasyland? Or maybe moving Barnstormer inside and giving it the Mine car treatment?

As we have learned in the past few years the track record has been spotty at best when there isn't a lot of budget to work with. (Space Mountain and Spaceship Earth refurbs jump into my mind)

Lets pray for the best and fear the worst!

Trust me I trust WDI.

It is the meddlers that concern me as I have said. It is they that give us "temporary" "placeholders" such as Dino-rama and Camp Minnie-Mickey.

I'm afraid. Very afraid. :lookaroun
