I think we'd all agree it be pretty boring without Jt and his textual wisdom :animwink:

We're all one big happy disfunctional family, like the Bluths on Arrested Development.

Jt is Tobias.

Trolling again Barry?

Well that is your only contibution around here if it could be called that.

I think you have a higher post count per day than EE but at least he was* interesting.

Since this thread has gotten so far off topic, I figured I'd take advantage of that and show you all this fascinating little trick you might not know about.

Click on a poster's user name. Any poster, really. Think of the first one that springs to your mind. When you click on their name you should get linked to their profile page. See that button under their avatar marked "User Lists"? Click that. As you might notice, the third option on the menu that appears is "Add to Ignore List".

Just sayin.

So the idea was mention somewhere that SWSA might eventually be replaced by a low-cost darkride which could be switched out every so often to reflect the movie they're trying to promote....

Thoughts?

I have to admit I don't like the idea. I don't want a ride which is basically a giant advertisement. *cough*The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian*cough*

It would be closed almost as much as it would be open. And the costs of re-theming a ride (even a cheap dark ride) every few months, or years, would be insane.

If they go through with the SW Mine Ride and close down SWSA, they could easily use the same track, load/unload and just re-theme the current attraction once. Maybe use some 3-D sets like Pooh, throw in some NextGen interactiveness.

I still wish they'd build a ride based on the original Disney characters (i.e. Mickey, Minnie, etc). Philharmagic is their closest attempt, and it's really a Donald Duck showcase. A dark ride with scenes depicting the evolution of Disney cartoons would be cool. Start with Steamboat Willie in black/white, move on to silly symphonies, and then the Mickey Mouse cartoons (looking glass, beanstalk, etc), and even the Chip/Dale and Goofy shorts they made.

That would be a never-ending classic ride that would never have to be re-themed (unless, of course, the world forgets about Mickey Mouse).

I don't see it happening for a number of reasons:

* To do it without having to switch out "props" every few months, it would have to be completely digitalized i.e. video driven. That is costly.
* To continualy have to develop a new attraction two or three times a year would not be cost effective given the use of cloned attractions, etc.
* There would likely be times where there would be no movie in production or released that would fit the theme of fantasy land.

Yeah, well the idea came from something Staggs said about continually refreshing dark rides. It just seems that the only way to cost-effectively pull it off would just look darn cheap.

Tom Staggs has hinted at continually changing dark rides out to keep things fresh... Perhaps Snow White would be converted into a changing Dark Ride concept...

Imagine a low budget classic dark ride that could change out quickly to promote whatever film that Disney Animation was releasing at the time... Snow White would be an ideal location for such a thing. That's why I think Tangled might be a contender for that location... if the film does well.

This is what I'm talking about btw.

What would your reaction be, as somebody new or not yet fully up to date, to a person posting "facts" that are going unquestioned?

I wonder if Staggs comment about a changeable attraction is the Skyway area.
They could have the m&g set up with a large room that would be easily changed for what ever the newest film is. I would worry that an easily changeable "ride" would end up being loads of video screens which there are too many of now....though not so much in the MK.

Agreed. I just feel like quality would be something you'd lose in a situation like that.

I think the return of Mr. Toads Wild ride, maybe the DL version that only has one track. Or it could save money by using the existing layout from Snow White. Just an unrelated thought, Maybe an index with all the appreviations so us part timers can keep up

Yeah I don't for a second buy the idea of a "modular" dark ride like this. We know how that would go... how many times did they change out the ride film for Star Tours?

There was actually a proposal for the New Fantasyland for a new area based on this concept. There was a ride, although I don't know how far it was developed. But the area would have been based on the world of the original Mickey cartoons.

It depends on what the facts are! :)

I believe that concept was called Cartoon Corners, was it not?

That would be epic. I really hope that if this was ever on the shelf that it gets dusted off at some point and built somewhere. Love the idea.

Yes, and it lends itself to the idea of an Epic Mickey dark ride. The trailers for the game look awesome, so I'd be very much in favor of that. Surely Disney's signature character deserves a ride of his own.
