What Happens When the Economy Improves?

"Obama's budget would double national debt over decade."

We haven't seen the worst of it yet I'm afraid. This administration will be nothing short of disastrous to our nation and our economy. When this budget is pushed through it will lead to the inevitable increase in taxes and not just on the upper one percent they love to harp on. Every family that pays taxes will see an increase. Dark days ahead folks.

I guess someone doens't like to adhere to the "no politics" rule.

Then there should be no talk about the economy on the boards either because you can't talk about one without the other.

I won't mention any one by name if that will help people.

It is just hard for me to see the economy improve when the deficet has been doubled in two months.

The question was what will happen when the economy improves. Not what do you think about the economy and the people that are in charge of the country right now.

When it improves?? I understand the original intent but do not belive that it is gaurenteed to get better I think if you want to talk about the economy you have to be willing to talk about the people in charge of it. This can be done if everybody acts in a mature manor because I don't belive it's about politics just iresponeabiliry by US government.

I believe the reason for the Poly and CR Tower being solid is the monorail, view of the MK, and it being a "Disney" resort. I just dont think there will be demand that close to the parks for that true deluxe level. I would be worried if I were operating any of those hotels.

Good point. That's why I've booked rooms there. :D

I agree.

This isn't the typical Dem vs. Rep thing.

There are plenty who oppose this budget and other spending on both sides of the aisle.

Err... this thread is about WDW once things improve. Not politics, budgets, governments and other real world stuff.

Quit it. Don`t get it locked.

I believe there is always a pipeline, we just don't always see it.

Once this "recession" ends, I believe that some new projects will get the go ahead and will be built.

Whether or not they're in the pipeline depends on your point of view. TLM, ST2, RSR (renamed for DHS), an MI coaster, an attraction for the Japan pavilion, and a new area for DAK are all certainly planned. None have been greenlighted for WDW yet (with the possible exception of ST2, but that doesn't have a date so it doesn't matter). I don't consider something to be in the pipeline until it's actually moving forward.

When the recession* eventually ends, WDW will be full of new hotel rooms, and the parks won't be able to handle the increased numbers if they stay the same. At the very least, the MK and Epcot need to have something opened and ready for when it ends, not announcing that a new attraction will be opened in 1–2 years.

*and it is very much a real recession, not a fake one, as some people who like to stick their heads in the sand are claiming. Honestly, it's not affecting me personally, but I know many people who have been affected, and ignoring their problems because I don't have them is beyond obnoxious; it's just plain evil.

Thank you, Martin. :D

Now in my first post, I asked if anyone has ideas to toss around. Unless Iger or Lasseter is using an alias here for fun (and I highly doubt it), it doesn't really matter what we say, but it's still enjoyable.

My ideas if the recession were to end within 3 years:

MK: Add TLM and continue restoring the classics. Move MILF to DHS and replace with a Circle-Vision film about outer space. The MK really needs another high-capacity dark ride NOW, let alone when more Guests come.

Epcot: Imagination. Now. Blow out the wall into the 3D theater and make a big people-swallowing attraction. Get a pharmaceutical company on board and begin renovating WoL; the fact that the human body isn't represented in Epcot is ridiculous. Finish SSE. :p

DHS: Update to Star Tours 2, which is over half-finished anyway and will drive local attendance. Add MILF and ride out the recession. Begin working on the coaster, but with TLM taking priority. The park can't handle increased Guest traffic without some serious infrastructure changes.

DAK: Fix the Yeti and begin working on projects for after the recession, including 20K and JTTCOTE.

None of these ideas are dramatically different, but they will all help absorb Guest traffic when the economy moves back up.

I jumped in the middle of things (but it seams like i missed the parts where people went off topic aka page 2), so sorry if this was already said.

But I think if Disney wants to push out the bonnet creak area it would be EASY! All they would have to do is perk up there resorts and make it troublesome for going to the bonnet creak ones. No one would go to bonnet creak resorts, and drop major coin just for a nature trail. If they lowered there rates, extended the monorail (to the boardwalk area using Epcot's station as the exchange point between the TaTC and the Boardwalk resorts) and maybe getting some funding from sheraton (im pretty sure they own the S&D) although this is an EXPENSIVE long shot, letting people use there key cards as FASTPASSES (omg universal did this back in the day and it got me to stay there, now its $25 a day n so ill NEVER go back) even if they charge for it later on (or just limit it to deluxe resorts), it'll push people off of those resorts and onto there property, free 'stuff' for staying at deluxe resorts, even during crouded times (free meals, merchandise, etc), and much much more.

I still think the four seasons sell was a terrible idea, but thats in the past now, and if worst comes to worst, four seasons goes under and they can buy it from them. I'm hoping MAJOR that bonnet creak will fall into a creak and disney will get the land at dirt cheap prices, convert the hotels, and then still have all disney hotels on disney property (is the buena vista area concered disney land or not? I concer it that way but i dont know enough about the past to know if thats right or not, if so, disney needs to take them over too!).

I think Universal still does that for resort guests.

And I've been saying for years that WDW should make that available to deluxe resort guests only.

Sounds good. Most of these were planned in detail already so it`s not as if they would be starting fom scratch. Don`t forget a Showcase darkride and the plussing of RoE - if not Skydance - too.

I know. ;)

How could I forget about the darkride and new Illuminations? And yet I did.

Sadly, nearly all of this was planned, and about half of it "would have" opened within 2 years. *sigh*

FastPass needs to be pulled out of several attractions completely, and modified for the others. PPF, TSMM, BTMRR, TOT, and Buzz can handle a lot of Guests without the need for FastPass; it supposedly doesn't affect the waits on Space Mt. and Splash too much. ( I don't personally know.)

Jungle Cruise doesn't need FP either. Believe me.

I agree with you on Buzz there should never be a FP offered for an omnimover attraction.

Disagree with you on TSMM this ride seems like it loads pretty slow same with TOT.
