I was at Epcot last Wednesday, and it struck me... Wasn't space ship earth going to be revamped into a thrill ride? and what about discovery land re-theming?

I'm guessing budget cuts? or they're just not wanting to get rid of a classic? more expensive than just building it somewhere else? age ride ability?

if you don't know what i'm talking about, look here: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2003/02/18/218.aspx

and here: http://www.wdwmagic.com/project_gemini.htm
Canceled thankfully, Suicide rates among Epcot purists would have increased dramatically.

:thread bump:

someone mentioned in another thread about the "Rainforest Coaster" that was to be built. anyone know more about this?

I think it was supposed to be a C-D-Ticket in The Land. If I remember what I read about Project Gemini correctly, it was to be an off-the-shelf coaster that would have received elaborate theming.

IIRC, the plan was to give Living Seas a Little Mermaid overlay/ride, put the rain forest coaster in The Land, and put Soarin' into a new "air" pavillion to be built near them. Land/Sea/Air, each with a new, crowd-pleasing ride.

The neverland files has a very detailed look at project gemini and even a map of the area. head over there or even type project gemini into google and you'll find it
