What do you think of the EPCOT Central Spine redesign?

Funny, we all want trees, landscaping and water but then when plans may include it, we bemoan losing buildings. I'd like a mixture of the two. More greenery and repurposing of the buildings. But I have no attachement to those buildings if they wanted to start over.

I do.

It's possible to have both. Before it's too late.

Be careful what you wish for. More than Communicore is at stake.

I hope there's both. I'd like them to repurpose the buildings. It seems silly not to. I may have a different opinion once plans are finalized and I know what they are getting rid of. Heck I may even hate the new look ...

I spent many hours in those buildings as Communicore and still spend a bunch of time there now...The best rest spot in Epcot is the air conditioning/couch area with very seldom used bathrooms right behind Club Cool. That is just my place to crash for 15 minutes in hot weather, as there are just a bunch of chairs and couches to sit down on and it is almost always completely vacant.

As a weird question...there is a locked room in that area that, when looking through the middle of the doors, has a bunch of boards with, what looks like boards with original designs/promotional material for the countries in World Showcase. Its hard to make out, because of distance and a small view angle. Any idea what that room is and what those boards are?

Its along the right wall in this image...

That was used as an exhibition for Epcot's 25th anniversary.

Then Segway training.

Then miscellaneous things.

Originally it was one half of Expo Robotics, with Club Cool being the other half. Both are all that remain of the original CCore sunken floors.

You're right. We could lose the most important thing (to a lot of people), Mousegear! I really don't get how a generic Disney store is so high on peoples list sometimes. I could walk to any other place in Epcot and get the same stuff.

But in all honesty, that's very concerning. I could almost see them ditching the Project Tomorrow building attached to SSE. I'd be fine with them removing the FoN and placing it in the same location as the concept from D23. They could put a small green space in its place. CC could be redone with some paint and clean/replaced windows. Oh and cut the nets down too. Think of how nice it could look.

If CC does get torn down, will there be any sort of building (same size, half size, etc) put back in its place? Or are we looking at concrete, concrete, and more concrete with some trees aka the D23 concept?
Also, I'm glad I got a hold of this pin and couple others from the employee Epcot 15th anniversary pin picture thing.

Then again it might be hard to understand since you missed out on the buildings being used during the original Communicore back at Epcot's Prime.

I'm sure alot of people will miss it since it used to be Centorium and had more stuff related to Epcot.

I figured...its just weird the lights remain on, it looks deserted and has, what looks like, a school classroom board of each country. I will really miss those bathrooms...even a few weeks ago, the parks were jammed with people, but that area had maybe 10 people in it at any time. Its insanely hard for me to remember the layout of the original communicore, trying to place what was in that area, originally.

That's exactly it. I understand wanting what was and what could be again but I'm also open to seeing what they do with the area. Even without the attachment to what used to be inside a long time ago I'd like to see them repurposed but I don't share the same attachement. Not trying to negate those who do, I get it.

Until I get around to updating it, try this

Oh ya, I forgot about Centorium. I never got to experience that at all sadly. Looked neat from what I could tell and seemed a lot less like a generic store and more like THE Epcot store.

Another good video of the building is from the latest Spaceship Earth tribute video that featured one of the exhibits mainly this part (Skip to 31:16). I wish there a better quality audio version of "The Age Of Information" song.

I get the sense from your activity in this thread there's either more you want to share or there is a similar discussion happening internally as they figure out the plan. If you had to give a gut reaction to what you think we'll end up with, what would it be?

Right now, liking what I like, I'm still a tad concerned. That's all I can say at the mo.
