First I have to say that I had seen this question posed at another sight and seemed like a real good question. Just thought id throw it out here. What do YOU do while waiting in those long Disney lines?...Talk to people around you? Sometimes(rarely) we do...but our biggest time eater when we are in lines( and usually 3 of us..including DD) are look at the hundreds ( between us) of pictures we have of our 3 Goldens!...takes up time....makes us laugh...and talk bout senerio we took them.
Hmmmmmm used to pics of the kids...now ..The Doggies!!:D

It's odd, but probably the most enjoyable thing I've done in a line - aside from partaking in some particularly entertaining conversation - is eat an apple. It was incredibly refreshing.

I either have my Tablet or PSP at the ready...Or if the ride has a single rider I just go on...I'm a Solo-er..
It is beyond me why people don't take advantage of the single rider line. My family would always use it. We didnt care so much if we sat next to each other if we could avoid waiting an hour. Granted, kids has to be old enough to do it but as soon as we hit that age, it was single rider all the way.

In general if I'm waiting, I will talk to whoever I'm with and sometimes the people around me. The games on my phone have also made waiting easier. But my best strategy is to avoid the long lines all together, which, if you know what you are doing, can be easy ;)

We chat it up with others around us. We've learned alot. A 30 min. conversation in 09 with some off duity castmembers about how they project the castle show and where the cool stuff is behind the scenes. A long ride from Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom in 11 learning about the DVC from a great lady who knew all the pros and cons. 45 min. waiting in line for a character with a family new to the world in January sharing some of our tips and advice that they didn't know, like how fast passes work. Some times my wife and I play a game where we get two points for the first Brazillian tour group with a flag, or five points for the first adult in a princess costume. We see who can get the most points before we go into the ride.

Count how many times the people behind me bump into me and my backpack. Also, there's the exciting game of "guess what they had for lunch", as you try to guess which eatery they went to based on their breath as they stand on my heels.....

  1. people watch
  2. look at park map that I already have memorized but look at just to kill time
  3. plan my next 3 places to go to
  4. lean away from the smelly person infront or behind me.
  5. smile because standing in line at Disney is a lot better then being at_____ (fill in the blank anything will do)

Shift from foot to foot
Shuffle through bag for lip gloss, hand lotion, hand sanitizer or kleenex
Talk to Husband about how ride is not scary or fast so he rides with me :)
Look at what other people are wearing (you know you do it too ;) ) or at people's tattoos
Then, look around for someone to start gibbering with until my ride

First of all I like to really look at the queue, all the details, it's that kind of thing that makes Disney special.

Me and my family/friends can usually find plenty to talk about. Failing that, Ipod.

We'll either be snacking on something, people-watch on those around us, or goof with each other by taking photos of us giving 'jazz hands' behind each other's back before they catch us. Good times.

Or I'll be checking in to various attractions through FourSquare, trying to become mayor of as many of them as I can. People usually usurp my mayorship in the days and weeks after my trip is over, but I've actually still got one still. Or I like to check in through Facebook and see how many friends make their jealous comments on it.
