What do you do while waiting in long lines?

Talking with each other and/or others around us; people watching and conversing about what they're doing/saying...I love to eavesdrop on conversations that have Disney-related misinformation!;)

Depends on the queue and how long a wait it's going to be or how slowly the line advances. I hum, listen to my music, play my video game, read a book, strike up a conversation, YELL at line jumpers, recheck my park plan, keep rechecking my watch, (God it's taking longer than they predicted), decide if it's worth staying here much longer, watch the FP line get ahead of me, ( why didn't I just get one earlier??? ) eat a snack from my backpack, (glad I have something to keep me from starving) look ahead to see if I can see the front of the line, (who just stepped on the back of my foot? ) think about the ADR I've got for tonight, look at my watch again, look at the ground, move ahead, finally, I am at the CM and smile, ( she said how many in my party, step up onto #1), finally enjoy my ride.

It depends on what line I'm in it and the design of queue. Some rides allow me take in the scenery of the queue so I photograph what parts of the queue that interest me assuming the line doesn't move very fast. But if the line is moving fast, I have to keep up with the line and not take any photos altogether! If I'm in a meet and greet line, I'm thinking what I'm going to say the character.

Look for hidden Mickey's/ soak up the queue, take advantage of the opportunity to talk to the kids about something they enjoy instead of grades, homework, etc... Remind the kids how blessed we are and the opportunities they have and to be appreciative and humble.

AWESOME!!!! What a great family!
I like to check out all my disney pins as well, look for hidden mickey's, guess where people in line are from, and take in the queue area......cant wait to do it again.

I'm always stalking out someone to talk to since my husband is all about a little less conversation...LOL. He HATES me on airplanes....I once switched seats to talk to someone from Ohio to Puerto Rico. We people watch and are amazed how many people in the lines are either talking on their phones or texting. I prefer to stay in the Disney bubble and talking or texting feels too much like "real life."

hmmm....blow bubbles with rapid fire bubble guns, bump the people all around me with my backpack, and talk on and on about really annoying things ;)

Seriously though, I talk to the kids and try and keep them amused and excited while we wait. i.e. pointing out details of the queue, talking about what we're going to do later, talk about best parts of the trip so far, etc. If they get really antsy, I might start showing them the pics I've taken so far (since I take a ton). I don't like to resort to my phone or ipod, but if the wait is crazy long and we've exhausted all other interesting things...I might offer my phone or ipod. Still, that's usually only if the wait is pushing an hour...and even then I really try and avoid it.

Talk with my group, discuss what we have enjoyed/not enjoyed so far, what we are doing later, reminisce about past trip, what we want to eat that night etc or we just admire the scenery or talk to people around us, being British it is very easy to get a conversation started with Americans, particularly females. When we go to WDW we leave our phones/iPads etc in the resort. WDW is where we go to escape reality, not bring it with us around the parks lol

I also like to listen out for the lound rumblings of the ride mechanics and people screaming whilest in line lol I recall Space Mountain, Tower of Terror and Star Tours have the loudest rumbling noises :P Haha rather random.

Now WiFi is park wide aside from talking to my family I can plan what to do next and keep my touring plan up to date. That's all I would do on my phone thought I wouldn't stand there and play games or anything. Or simply enjoy the queue.

I like looking around at the queue, but talking to strangers is a really good way to kill time in line, plus you get to hear about other peoples perspectives and experiences.
