2 lovely miles with DW. Kinda slow, very sticky, and getting to 90 again today. With those two miles this week will be my longest ever at 20.9 miles!

4.03 miles @1% incline with pace range of 17:08 (one walk period) to 13:35. Average pace between 14 and 15. Took a little under 60 minutes. Hit the emergency stop button at about 2.67 miles when putting water bottle back in holder on treadmill. :banghead:

The treadmills at my gym don't show stats when you accidentally hit the emergency stop, so took some stats from my Fitbit. Which doesn't capture pace for TM runs. WT???

BTW, longest distance I've run since that damn trails 10k the Saturday before Mother's Day. :)

@BrianV, yeah, know all about that "swim" we run outside at this time of year. Which is why I'm running on the TM... ;)

Next week's going to be brutal outside with that heat dome projected to occur over most of the US next week.

I hate it when they happens on the treadmill as it has happened to me too! :(

I don't mind the heat *except* when I'm running. The it stinks. Monday is my long run. Will back down the length and try to get going before 7 am. Not always possible.

Swapped my days around this weekend. Sat did 7@2i@8, had to squeeze it in between berry picking and feeding the goats (don't ask). Sun did 5k race with the jogger, did a 23:21, knocked a minute or so off my jogger PR, and somehow placed second.

Oh no, @dreamfinder, you must now tell us about the goats..... ;)

Congrats on the great 5k, with a jogger, no less.

Paris training continues 3-3-3-5-golf. I should start some real cross training but I'm too lazy.

It's tooooo hot, so you're allowed to be lazy. ;-)

When I checked the temperature at midnight last night, it was 84 freaking degrees!

Tweaked my knee during my long run. Ugh. Was supposed to be 8-10 but stopped just over 5 when I realized I should just end it.. Iced it and hope it feels better tomorrow. It's not terrible. Guess this will be a rest week. I might check out if the elliptical stresses it tomorrow. And I have plenty of time before my only two scheduled races in Sept and Nov.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. Hope it's okay.

Tried doing some light arm/shoulder presses yesterday, but with a left arm that's currently bent at a 42 degree angle, those overhead presses were interesting, to say the least. But that 42 degree bend is an improvement. Was at 53 degrees when I started physical therapy a few weeks ago. So I know about major joint issues and how they can screw up your training..and life.

Force myself to get up really early on Sunday to get in 5 miles outside before it just got too darn hot and humid.

Congrats on the race. DD and I have plans to go berry picking the weekend after next. Now about those goats...?

Hope the knee is ok @BrianV.

Hi all, I've been gone for awhile but I'm back. I admit I have not run since the Cleveland Marathon in April. I got burned out and running began to feel like a chore rather than being fun. So I took a break from it for awhile, but today is day 1 of training for the DLP Half. A slow and easy 3 miles as I get my body back into running. I should probably buy my plane ticket soon.

2.5@2i@8 today, a bit stiff from the race Sunday, so a shakeout run today.

@BrianV hope your knee is OK, I can sympathize with knee problems.
@LAKid53 & @JillC LI Ok, since you asked. We belong to a CSA (basically you prepay for a share of veggies from a farm and whatever ends up growing) and they maintain a herd of goats. Probably up to 60 or so head now, they are in pens all over the place so I can't keep count. Anyway, DS absolutely loves the goats. So when we go to pick up our veggies, he insists on running out back and greeting all the goats. As soon as he turns the corner he starts yelling "MAAAAA. MAAAAA" since that is the sound they make, and he is calling them or something. The farmer keeps the veggie scraps/trimmings in a bucket to feed the goats, and usually lets us take the bucket out to feed them. So in 90 degree sun I'm chasing a 20mo around a farm (all you mothers out there are shuddering thinking of rusty tractors and fence posts just waiting to cause chaos) dragging 10 lbs of veggies in a bucket and every 5 feet he stops, grabs some lettuce and holds it out for the goats to eat. And of course he wants to do it all himself, and only one piece of veg at a time so we were out there for probably 30 mins feeding goats. DS thinks it's hilarious when the goats nibble on his fingers and try to eat his clothes. So while it's great fun to do (My DW and I each have our favorites that have been there for years), and adorable to see him go running over, it's not the easiest thing to do.
@Mad Stitch welcome back, hopefully your body has good memory to ease back into the habit.

Ugh. Knee feels crummy today. Ok walking but stairs are not good. I know right where it happened too, running downhill a bit too fast on a route I don't often run. Guess I was needing a week off anyway!

I'm really sorry for you - I've been nursing my injury for a few weeks now (felt FANTASTIC a week ago, only to miss a step down and re-injure my hip). The good news is that my osteo came back from vacation yesterday and after one session today I am almost feeling as good as new. I'm going to see him once more this week, and with luck, I'll be able to go running on Saturday. Hopefully you only need a few days rest!

@dreamfinder, great story! I wish there was a CSA in my area. We have several farmers markets, but I would much rather belong to a CSA. Especially if in addition to produce, I could get fresh eggs.

My mom grew up on a cattle ranch in Colorado and nothing beats fresh farm/ranch food - beef, poultry, pork, eggs, milk, butter, produce. The ranch was pretty much self sufficient, so all my grandparents had to buy were staples - flour, sugar, coffee, tea and things like that. I remember those breakfasts - eggs (that were collected that morning), steak, ham, bacon, biscuits with red eye gravy, fresh milk and butter. Yum. Heaven for a city kid. Unless of course you had to help "harvest" some of the food. Or repair fences. Or help bale acres and acres of hay. Thank goodness that old fashioned butter churner of my great grandma's had been replaced by the electric separator and churner...because that was MY job in the mornings, since I was a complete fail in helping with livestock and most of the outdoor chores my brothers and the ranch hands accomplished.

For the first time ever I woke up early to get my run done before work. A much easier 3 mile run than the humidity I experienced Monday evening. Feels good to have my run done and out of the way already, but this may get more difficult as the weekday run grow to 5 miles.
