What did you do?

3-5-3 again this week. Doing this until Dark Side. Very fast this week, not sure why.

Spring is officially here in middle Georgia. Trees are blooming and everything is coated with yellow pine pollen.

Those of you training for a marathon at THIS time of year, good luck. You're better than I. :)

Macon GA Cherry Blossom 10K this morning. 80% chance of rain didn't happen. 60 and overcast and the sun came out after the race. Smashed my old PR by more than a minute and finished third in my age group. AND there were free pink-glazed Krispy Kreme donuts!

Now THAT's a race report! A PR, a medal, and pink donuts! I love it. Congrats. What was your time?

As for me, 6 miles over the weekend and another 4 last night. Snow fell on the eve of the first day of Spring, but it all melted by the following afternoon.

Thanks! 55 even. Hoping for corral D for W&D.

Another mystery run. The E Stop thingy on the TM popped off mid run, and I have no idea where I was distance or time wise. So something like a 2 1/3@2i@7:30, but don't hold me to it.

All our snow melted by the time I got home that day. 4 inches, poof!

3.5 miles on TM last night. That's what I can fit in while fast forwarding through General Hospital on the treadmill, so that often winds up being my distance for the day if I'm running indoors. :)

10 miles today. It was a good strong run, I think the struggle to get my outdoor stamina back is over. Just in time for the taper into Dark Side weekend.

Here is a question for the group. In the last quarter mile I felt some knee pain. I wear a knee brace when running on the treadmill, but I think it may be time to wear one full time. The brace I have is just an off the shelf brand from CVS. Can anyone recommend one designed for runners?

Edit: I started doing some research on knee braces after I post this. I didn't realize what a complex topic it can be. I think I'll go into my local running store and see what they say.

Ended up doing 7.84 of trails Sunday, at 8:30 pace. Gym was closed for the holiday, so figured I'd go completely out of my comfort zone. Watch was dead (don't charge it during the non race/indoor season to save the battery) so I tracked via GPS on phone, wish I had known I was that close to 8, I woulda tacked on another bit. Bike today.

Hate to say it, but this is one of those times to suck it up and see a knee doc. (Or maybe you have already) But knee pain may not even be due to issues with the knee. Could be related to anything in leg, hip issues, muscle tightness, etc. And beyond that, different types of braces support different parts of the knee, and the good ones are usually custom made. Now admittedly most of my knowledge come from family members/people I ski with who have had ACL/MCL type work done on their knee and end up with heavy duty hardware to keep everything working which is very different than a neoprene type sleeve/wrap.

Not so pleasant long run this weekend. 3 miles into my planned 7 miler I lost focus, didn't lift my foot high enough, and tripped off the edge of a curb into the middle of a street. Thankfully for my pride, no one witnessed it, but I went straight down, no time to roll, and hit my palms and one knee quite badly. I don't run with a phone so I started to limp home, but the endorphins were still pumping so I didn't feel the full brunt of the pain yet and (probably stupidly) decided to finish the 7 miles, bloody palms and all. I was sore last night but this morning I can barely walk on the knee. I know nothing is broken, but I must've pulled a ligament or something in addition to smashing it on the pavement. My hands aren't so pretty either. Sigh.

I have taken some spills while running. After I get up I always imagine people in their livings rooms who saw me through their front windows laughing at me.
