What did you do?

Sunday core and leg strengthening, I can't wait until my core is stronger and doesn't hurt for four days following this workout.

Monday - 3 pretty easy miles through the neighborhood.

Today - 5 miles in 75% humidity, took me about 4 miles to get comfortable running through soup but that's summer for you.

The only good thing about all this heat is that I now have a great reason to buy more running gear with this 5 day a week Hal Higdon plan. I need to remember to buy dark colors though because my shorts this morning had a pretty terrible sweat pattern on the front that made it look like I had an accident.

I remembered at 8pm last night that I had to drive DD to an early camp trip this morning and wouldn't be able to run, so I did 4 miles at 8:30pm last night on the TM. Haven't done speedwork in a few weeks, and it showed when I tried to do a workout that was previously far less painful. I was breathing so hard after each fast interval that DS was worried I was having a heart attack. LOL. Ah well, no pain no gain.

LOL re your sweat pattern @LindsayLoves.

So, not officially in Dopey training but I'm trying to come up with a marathon strategy. I'm thinking half mile intervals to start then wing it for the last 6.2. This year my half marathons have been breaks every 2-3 miles for a water or a stinger. I've been trying half mile intervals in the morning 3-milers for practice but most days I just say the heck with it and run it. What is your strategy?

I don't know if it is just the area I live in, but the humidity has also brought out all kinds of bugs. Japanese Beetles seem to find me very attractive, even when I am running.

Another day on the TM at the gym. 3 miles on the treadmill plus 10 minutes on Jacob's Ladder. If you have the chance to workout on one of these contraptions, I highly recommend it--felt the workout immediately!

Going back to the gym tonight for my yoga/pilates class.

30 min on the TM today at a 13:30 pace. I feel so slow!
Don't feel slow...You were way faster than the person who did not get off the couch today and move at all.

As for me,I did 3.2 this am mile 1 at 9:38, fast for me...then I had to slow down to about a 10:45 pace. Then I took my two kids plus 3 others to the lake. We swam, played and took out the paddleboard. I love summer!

Things I did today:
- While I was walking to the subway at 4:20am I was treated to a lovely rendition of Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" by a very drunk man and woman singing karaoke.
- 4 Yasso 800s with 1 mile w/u and c/d. Had good motivation to get these done today because....
- Made my ADRs for Marathon weekend!!! (not the smoothest process but I was able to get all of our picks in with only a few website errors)

Took a my girls to the local high school this morning. They are both registered for the Kids races during the W&D 1/2 Marathon weekend. My oldest will be running the mile and my youngest the 400 m. They want to "train" for their races too.
I was able to run 1.25 miles (and walk another .25) before my youngest got too bored and we had to leave.

6 miles last night for the first time ever. Splits right at 11 mins, which is just barely slower than my 5K times. Best thing was my last mile was my fastest! Major, major progress. Starting to think an October half might just be possible... that is if I can fit it in around the kids' sports schedules!

Congrats! I can clearly remember the first time I ran 6 miles. It was in the Spring of 1996. I was training for my first 10K race and had only been running for a several months. It was a very long time before I had any thoughts of increasing mileage beyond that (9 years!), but I'm glad I finally discovered the joy of those longer runs. Good luck if you decide to train for a Half in October. It is definitely doable with training. I understand the kids scheduling thing though.

As for me, 4 miles this morning around the neighborhood at 10:10 pace which isn't awful considering the humidity but I felt very sluggish.
