What did you do?

I seemed to have totally overdone it this past weekend - the day before I ran the 5 miles I ended up doing even more than that walking around my daughter's school setting up and taking down tables and whatnot for a school party and the day I ran the 5 miles I also walked another 6 miles - some of it getting to and from my 5 mile run and then some of it just running errands in my neighbourhood. My legs have been like jelly ever since and when I tried to run this evening I was pretty quick to realise that this was not going to happen :(. I did walk my scheduled run, but even that was with sore/tight muscles. I really hope this is only temporary...

Give it a few days. It will pass. :)

Thanks @BrianV and @LAKid53. I think I am frustrated as this is now the 4th day :(. But at least I think I was smart to realise that running was not wise this evening. I will take it easy - even if it means doing my 6 mile run at a very slow pace this weekend (even if I finish it walking). The good thing is that I have once again confirmed that my walking pace is still fast enough to finish the DLP half within the 3h30 ;)

This will happen. Our bodies are amazing at powering through something once, but then need to recover. This is why it's important to make sure you can repeat a distance/pace/whatever before pushing yourself further/faster. Listen to your body, and adapt/adjust from there. Slow down your pace as needed, or do some cross training on bike/elliptical. Something to help move the muscles and loosen them up. Not sure where you are in your training, but 2 days recovery isn't unheard of if you pushed yourself outside of your long run. Personally, I always cross train on the bike the day after a long run. And even on day 2, I can still be really stiff sometimes and will dial back the pace as needed.

@dreamfinder, that was a 6:58 m/m pace?! Dude, that's killing it. *thumbs up* *applause*

Yup, thanks. Had been trying to gradually get back down there, and the other day I said F' it, I know I can do it, so I did it. Repeated today to remind my legs it's not a fluke. Now I need to start trying to get that back down to 6:40ish before I'll be fully happy with the short run pace.

I'll be happy if I can get my average pace below 13:00.

Nothing wrong with that pace. Your run belongs to you. Find the pace/distance/terrain/etc that works for you, and kick it's behind. Enjoy the run for what it is and take silent pleasure in beating down that little voice in your head trying to get you to stay on the couch instead of lacing up the shoes and hitting the road.

So I was away on vacation for several days on Martha's Vineyard. Didn't run while I was away, but I did a 10+ mile bike ride one day on a crappy, hard to pedal bike, but the beautiful scenery made up for my struggles. Took the dog with us on vacation for the first time so we did lots of running around with her in the park, and in the ocean, and flying a kite, and just having tons of fun.

Since I've returned home, I did 3m on the TM, and another 3.5m outside.

Didn't think that nearly two months of no gym or running would get me out of shape. But, then all my energy has been focused on healing my arm.

After three months off letting my knee heal, I have had the darnedest time getting my fitness level back. I want to die by the time I hit about 3 miles and have only gone 4m twice. Maybe if I force myself to bump it up to 5, then 3 won't seem so bad anymore. At some point I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and do that. I'm pretty confident the knee is up to it, even if my lungs aren't yet.

Working on DH to book a long weekend for the family at WDW in January. DS starts college the following Fall and DH is being all practical about saving money but I wanna go to Disney World! Keep your fingers crossed for my powers of persuasion!

Nothing today :(

Got maybe four hours of sleep last night. Was sooo tired and sleepy when I got up, I fell asleep holding my cup of tea watching my morning show... Plus it started storming shortly after I got up and has been storming most of the day. Was also going to do some house chores, like clean it, but I was so wiped from lack of sleep I just veged. Think my body was telling me to take it easy...you've been really pushing me this week.

So tomorrow will be my replacement day for today. Probably do a 5k on the TM, which will cover Saturday too.

Anyone planning on running in the Princess Half? Early registration for DVC/APs opens next Tuesday. I will be hovering over my keyboard at 11:30, so I can get the Glass Slipper Challenge. I'm all about the challenges, now. ;)

That 5k I said I was going to do today? Nope. Found out why I was so not feeling it yesterday. Woke up with scratchy throat, stuffy nose and clogged ears (can one's ears be clogged?). Yup. A summer cold. 4th of July weekend. Bummer.

Thank god there's Netflix to binge......

Good call. My cousin tried a 10-miler with a cold. Didn't end well.

Muggy 5-miler this morning after sunrise. Nice breeze made it bearable. Saw a bunch of rabbits running around. They didn't seem to be bothered much by me running by.

Wow, Paris training starts NEXT WEEK!

Humidity is gone!! But my off day. Lovely 2.25 mile jog with DW!

Lucky you...about the humidity. You must not live in the below the Mason Dixon line part of the country like me and @Texas84.

In my neck of the woods, the humidity will depart in November (hopefully). And return in March. :in pain:

Just did my first 6 mile run - still feeling some discomfort when I run, but it didn't keep me from running - and in fact had my best minute per mile average since I started my DLP half training 8 weeks ago :). Temperature was just perfect -- and because it looks like it will rain (to those that aren't from here - I knew that the rain was long gone) there were less tourists out which meant less dodging.
