The one thing I really hate about the ride is though the queue line inside in the corridor. Its to 70'ish and cheap for my liking. Please update that.

You can't really compare the two. They are two different types of coasters, the only thing they share is the name.

I know...I just want to compare which is MORE Disney...

I think a major update would do it well, both ride and especially the queue. While I would prefer a faster, smoother coaster, I can't help but think of my youngest riding it with me (9) screaming the whole way and telling me that it's faster than RnRC. So with that there is definitely a different appeal and impact. (I didn't bother to tell him the speed we were really going)

It HAS been updated - you should have seen it beforehand. Flares were optional!

Space Mountain is a classic. The theming is outstanding, the entire ride is great. I absolutely love it. The fact that it is unlike any other coasters elsewhere is what makes it so unique. Leave Space Mountain alone.......

Make it darker and smoother, and improve the effects, which are still rather good in their own cheesy way; it's like being part of an old sci-fi movie.

If a classic attraction doesn't rely on cutting-edge technology (such as PoTC and IaSW) I think that WDI should simply improve it through refurbs; there are obviously some attractions whose formula for success doesn't need to be touched. However, some classics--such as Space Mountain--need to be updated to remain at the forefront of the Walt Disney World experience. As much as I love SM, it's not a holy grail that WDI can't touch (after all, creating magical experiences is their job); SM needs updating. Does it need loops, zero-G turns, and heartline corkscrews? No. But its technology needs to blast into the 21st century. As long as WDI improves the ride, an all-out redesign would be great. I repeat, if WDI improves it...that means no pathetic SGE-style attempts at an attraction.

And if they slap a glittery Mickey part onto SM's futuristic exterior...well, they should all be fired. :dazzle:

Edit: (To be fair, whoever decided to leave the wand on SSE should be fired first. I feel like the Queen of Hearts: "Off with his head!")

I love it .. always have. When I was little I would get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it as we were walking down Main Street. I still get excited now - that tells me something.

I guess it could still be updated, but I would hate for it to lose it's originality and essence

Space Mt. Needs the IASW treatment.. Referbished... (AKA.. replace old track with modern track keeping mostly same layout.. no inversions are nessesary.. and make the Mt. Dark again!!!)

Magic Kingdom has thrills... they are done moderately to keep the height limit low.. If you want thrills go to Mission Space... or inversions RNRC... Heck.. DL's isn't adding inversions... and DLP only got them cause it was state of the art and they needed people to come.... MK doesn't have that problem.... but the ride is aging...

Hmmm...I'm not sure how I feel about Space Mountain. I mean I really love it because it's a classic and its so unique, but I think more technology could be added. You know how in Tower of Terror there's that part where you are totally immersed in stars and it just feels so cool - I wish they would make SM more like that. Pitch black with twinkle lights everywhere.

But I don't want them to make it an intense thrill ride to where they'd need to raise the height restriction. I think Space Mountain is the perfect ride to introduce kids to roller coasters. When I was a little kid I just loved it so much and it gave me butterflies! I still love it, but mostly because it reminds me of my childhood Disney vacations. I think they should keep the tracks the same, maybe smooth them out a little, but just make the darkness darker and add cool stars like TOT. Maybe even add some music.

it's a valid idea everyone is having to revamp space mountain, and though i agree, i have to ask the question: when?

if WDI really wanted to do as much as everyone seems to want them to do, it will be a whole lot more than a paint job and a week experience, it will take months, at least. when will they have the ability to shut down one of their top sellers for that long? idk, i think this is a major problem they face. people will be livid if they are planning this big trip and saving every dollar, and SM is closed during their stay. no matter how old it may be getting, the hoards of people dashing to it early in the morning wouldnt be too happy.
plus, how would emh work for mornings, especially since frontierland isnt open for emh usually. what would be the big draw for those not visiting fantasyland?
idk i may be wrong, sure wouldnt be the first time, but i dont know when they can afford to close down this attraction for an extended period of time at any point in the year without complaints.
