Hi!

Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time are very popular - but personally, I am not a fan. Brown Derby is great - but if on the dining plan - its 2 TS meals. And out of pocket - it is pretty pricey. My favorite place to eat there - is Toy Story Pizza Planet! :slurp::slurp::slurp: My DH and I prefer it the most to the other options. It's not very exciting! But it is our fave!

Sci-Fi is a really cool place to eat. The atmosphere is awesome. The food is your typical food but the oreo shake is really good! I have never eaten at 50's primetime so I can't say anything about that. Mama Melrose is good too. Pizza planet is fun and the pizza is good. But we always have to eat at Sci-Fi when we go in fact we will be there on June 5th :sohappy: hope that helps.

i was wondering what were some good places to eat at hollywood studios. i have been here before but never eat here.

We like Pizza Planet for a quick service meal.
We have only eaten at Hollywood & Vine for a table service meal there & we enjoyed it.
However, we will probably try Mama Melrose this year - I hear it's good too!
I hear that Sci-Fi & 50's Prime Time are good too.

Pizza Planet is the only counter service I will eat at Studios ( I'm not sure why but they are really behind the other parks on this)

50's and Mama Melrose's are both good. We are trying Sci Fi this time.

We really enjoy 50's Prime Time. Fun atmosphere and pretty decent grub. We've eaten at Mama Melroses but have found it real spotty in terms of quality. Sometimes its great, sometimes its real ok. For counter service we like Studio Catering, the chicken, beans and rice is a good meal. The Pizza place is also ok in a pinch.

I can't say I'd recommend Sci-Fi. We ate there Monday and though the atmosphere is interresting, it was hands down, the WORST meal the 4 of us have ever eaten at a table service restaurant at WDW. I had the BLT soup and a hamberger. The tomato soup made Campbells taste gourmet with a hard lump in the center that was supposed to be the lettuce, crouton and bacon and the hamburger was like a carboard disk. I've had WAY better counter service burgers. My wife tried the turkey sandwich and did not finish half of it and our two friends were not impressed with their meals either.

Have fun!

My favorite there is 50's Prime Time. Food is good (though always order the pot roast) and atmsophere can be real fun too.

Sci Fi is fun atmosphere but to me is a burger place.

Mama Melroses is good and the food and atmosphere is alright but not out of this world.

Haven't tried Brown Derby as menu doesn't really appeal to me or my family.

DHS is really lacking a good eatery

50's prime time is not bad, but its not wonderfull food either. Its a fun atmosphere, I have had some very fun meals there. A lot of the food seems to follow the mroe fat, more salt, more sugar and larger portions makes good eating formula. Which is sort of the definition of comfort food, but if thats not what you are in the mood for, there is not much else.

Sci-Fi Drive In. I have never had a good meal here. I also don't like the car seating, as I dont like looking at the back of the heads of the people in front of me. Makes conversation difficult. (And yes, I know there are picnic tables available)

Brown Derby - Easily the best place in DHS. However the quality has seemed to have dropped over the last year or two, and makes it hard for me to continue to justify the price for what you get. Lunch at the BD however does still remain somthing I like, and think is worth it. And they have those mussles on the lunch menu (and no, they wont make them during dinner service - I have tried :) )

By far the absolute best restaurant in DHS is THE BROWN DERBY!!! Hands down. Great menu, great atmosphere, great service.
A close second however in my book is THE 50's PRIME TIME CAFE. Great theme, great homestyle menu and great atmosphere.
I always try to avoid the counter service or pizza places.

I am pro Sci-Fi Cafe and 50's Prime Time Cafe... While the food is ok, the atmosphere in both places alone is worth the trip to each.

Ditto. This is almost exactly what I would have posted. The pot roast at 50's is my favorite meal on property.

We enjoy Brown Derby immensely, especially having the Cobb salad for lunch on a hot day. We also like the atmosphere a lot of the SciFi Dine in theater although the food is average. 50s cafe is ok, but I don't really care for that type of food while I'm on vacation.

50's Prime Time was the one restaurant that was requested by everyone in my party this upcoming trip. And that was even after our server forced my 13 yr old to eat all of his veggies last year. We have a great time there, good food and a really fun environment.

We enjoyed Studio Catering for counter service lunch and Mama Melrose for dinner. At Studio Catering we both got the Chicken Cesar Wrap and at Mama Melrose I got the Penne alla Vodka and my boyfriend got the Wood Grilled Salmon.

My favorite restaurant at DHS is 50s Prime Time. I love the theming! And the smores are great! We also like Sci Fi, the atmosphere there is fantastic. We aren't big fans of Hollywood and Vine. The food isn't that great, you can get a better buffet elsewhere.

This is exactly what I think too. I alternate years between Sci Fi and 50s Prime Time. Although my experience at 50s last yeart was so horrible I think I need a couple years off from that place. I also like the Brown Derby, but I do not think it is worth 2 dining credits so I usually skip it in favor of Artist Pointe at WL if I am going to do a 2 credit dinner.

50's Prime time has the best food. It is not industrial and is like home cooking that someone who cooks good in your family mightmake nd the atmosphere is fun and cute. Counter service....Backlot Express is the best because you can get refills on your drinks there and no where else does that. There is a new Counter Service opening up and we are going to try that this Dec. Sci Fi is cute and the Angus Burgers are the best thing to order on there. But 15.00 for a burger is steep. Just go in and eat desserts and shakes mid day. Just so you can getin.Haven't had good revues on Brown Derby or Mama melrose on many of the boards. Might think twice before I did that. 2TS I think at Brown.
