what about that "new ride" in Epcot...

Is either company relevant in this digital age?

One is if it's paying for maps, Imagination, Philharmagic, those little signs that tell you where to take a picture etc.

Except the maps are not books anymore, Imagination sucks (when is 3.0 due now, 2024?) and people don't need signs anymore to tell them where to take pictures or film to make them with.

No.

Show designed for the Japan pavillion, but went to Tokyo instead.

As in trains...
Meet The World was not moved. It was planned that there were to be 2 of them, one in Epcot and one in Tokyo Disneyland. Only one opened due to construction errors and there is also a rumor that Imagineers were afraid that WWII veterans would complain that WWII is not mentioned in the show because there were already complaints coming in about the American Adventure about music playing during one of the President's (can't remember which one) speeches.

Not too many Benihana's down here.
There's a few. I frequent the one in Miramar. Sometimes the one at North Bay Village.:slurp:

Yes. I didn't make myself clear. There were indeed to be two, opening first in Tokyo, then in Epcot in 1983.

Not so much.
I am unaware of any construction errors that would have prevented the show from being installed in Epcot.
The decision to cancel the project came not from WDI, but from Burbank, and was indeed entirely due to concerns about how to handle the WW2 years, and the high potential for controversy.
Oh, and it was Roosevelt's "day that will live in infamy" speech. The music cuts him off just before he says that the US was attacked by Japan.

I'm 5 mins from there.:wave: I live on the other side of the over-pass.

Right, but wasn't the music that cut him off added in later? I thought the original version did not have that.

Anyhow, the mountain project was briefly looked at a few years ago but nothing more. The area however - in particular the Meet the World showbuilding - is considered to be coming onstage instead of backstage when the bean counters say yes.

Ahh.. I'd been wondering lately what the status of the project was. I've started to despair that anything is going to get off the launch pad...

Thanks for elaborating on the Fujifilm story, btw. I actually thought that was an urban legend.

Yet another thing to do next trip...Re-try Japan...and TT.;)

Oh yeah, I remember you saying you were going to try Test Track on your next trip. Finally tall enough eh. :lol:kidding, kidding, just a joke:wave:

The food at Japan is good I think. Even the little CS is good if you ask me and the price is quite reasonable.

Oh, and the Merf rumor that started this thread, was just that they were building a Mt Fuji forced perspective facade on the roof, nothing else.

But this is still a great thread.

It's kind of a combination of static from the thunderstorm in that scene, and then the fade into the music of the next scene...

Eh...nah...I'd rather have Benihana.

Yeah, you definitely get a lot more bang for your buck at Benihana or Kobe. They've drastically scaled back the offerings at Teppan Edo over the years, of course while keeping the price up.

We're waiting for 4.0. The Guidemaps are quite half-assed nowadays, aren't they? Although I don't know if that's because Kodak is providing the same amount of money for Guidemaps that they always have, and now have to distribute it across too many parks and Downtown Disney.

Ok, so I guess we can forget the Mt. Fuji attraction coming to Japan. I guess we can forget the Austrailian pavalion as well. I am thinking we are going to be looking at a stagnant World Showcase for the next few years?

And that's any different from the past 20 years how? The last new attraction was back in '89.

so Basically...

Mouse Merf got dumped because he, One, told of a project that was to come..

and two, now the Project, Mt. Fugi isn't coming due to corporate sponsor trouble? Kodak doesn't hardly make film anymore. you can't buy 100 speed film anywhere.. I know..

I guess that I don't know what all the screaming is about.. and as for sponsorships, Disney could use all the sponsors they can get, from what I see..

three, and this is really important, a E-ticket ride, that was supposed to have the green light and finally a new addition to the World Showcase, isn't happening..

and why, if the last thing is true, aren't more of you SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS..

obviously the bean counter mentality is holding firm to those at WDW..
