Trip Report We're Not Stopping... Just Keep Hopping! A September 2015 Trip Report

And so... we are back. How is it that the wait for Disney is so long and exciting and then in a blink of an eye, it’s over?

I am so glad we were able to take this trip. It was a difficult year and we really needed some magic and fantasy to “reboot” our lives. We were in Disney from September 11th - 21st and stayed at French Quarters.

For those of you who do not know us...

September 16th - Day 6: In Search Of River Country & Hope Runs Away

Today was our pool day - no parks today! I feel this is so important for us. We don’t stop when we are in Disney and this year, with the Park Hoppers, we really didn’t stop. My husband doesn’t get why someone would go to Disney and NOT be in the parks. He doesn’t get the whole “explore” the other resorts and swimming. Sometimes when I read TR that have families leaving the parks and going back to the resort for the afternoon to swim and enjoy the resort, I always say Hmmmm - maybe we’ll give it a try. But then, when we are there, forget it, there’s no leaving the park. So our non-park pool day is something we all look forward to. We need it to recharge. And today was no different. We woke up without an alarm and took our time getting ready.

Originally, we had plans to go have breakfast in DTD, spend the morning there, shop a little bit and then return to FQ for an afternoon of swimming. Julia wanted to go swim at Riverside for a bit and I was up for it. We had tickets for HDDR at 6:15 to celebrate Julia’s Birthday. (Thanks Grandma & PopPop!)

However mother nature had something different in mind. The forecast was 90% chance of rain all day. Seriously? Our pool day? So we decided to swim first before the rain started but decided to just stay at FQ and not go to POR until that night - if possible. We headed to the food court to have yet another super YUMMY breakfast. Honestly, I think the best breakfasts I had were at FQ!

I packed all our laundry that needed to be done - since the laundromat was right next to the pool.

No pictures please.

Then we hit the pool!

Day 6 - Continued...

So actually, Ross was reading my TR and reminded me that Hope actually went into the Jacuzzi before the pool. I think it’s a temperature thing - I think she liked the warm water. There was no one else there except the two of them, so Ross let her enjoy for a little while.

Julia and I went over by the kiddie pool to get some seats. On our way, we stopped for a few pictures. I love FQ!

Julia hit the pool and Ross and Hope were making their way over to the kiddie pool. I went off to do some laundry.

For some reason, my magic Band would not open the door. There was a couple inside that I was hoping would let me in but unfortunately they did not. Just as I was about to go find a CM, a guy walked up to me and scanned his MB for me. Thank you!! I pushed our stroller of dirty clothes towards the back and searched out 3 machines next to each other. I always travel with my laundry soaps and fabric sheets. I hate the price they charge for them and due to allergies, I don’t want to change detergents. I unpacked all my stuff and started to load the washers when I realized the couple who refused to open the door for me were having an argument. Apparently, they put their credit card info into the machine and paid for a washer that had clothes in them! The machine was not running, it had finished the wash cycle but the owners did not yet return to empty it.

Now, I get it a little why they were annoyed, but I don’t quite understand why someone would pay for a washer without making sure its empty first. They were really upset. The wife didn’t want to pay for another washer and the husband couldn’t figure out how to change it or get a refund. I don’t know how I got sucked into their conversation, but I suggested that maybe they take the clothes out of the washer - and leave a note apologizing and explain what happened. With that, they started to yell about how rude it is for people to leave their laundry and go off to do other things. Now, again, I kind of agreed - I mean I was planning to go swim- but come back in time to switch the clothes from washer to dryer. I wouldn’t go to a park - but I guess a person could forget and come back a little late. Plus it wasn’t as though every washer was taken, there were more than half that were empty, they just happened to pay for one that was, well, kind of still in use.

I managed to go back to my laundry. I loaded up my 3 washers, paid and started the cycles and then proceeded to leave to go swim. (Having full intention to come back when the wash was complete.) Of course the couple, who were still fighting in full force, gave me a dirty look as I left.

We pretty much had the pool to ourselves!

Julia joined in some of the games they were playing - a first for us!

We swam until about 1 or so and then the skies started to look bad. So we headed back to the room and got ready to go to DTD. We walked to the boat launch, but it was full when we got there and Ross didn’t want to wait for the next one to come, so we walked to the bus stop.

Wait...did you get your laundry?!

Really like the grounds of POFQ.

Oops! Sorry about that! Let me go back...

I went back after about an hour to transfer my clothes from washer to dryer. Once again, my MB would not open the door. The grumpy couple was still there and you guessed it, they saw me and looked away. But thankfully, there was another guest inside who opened it for me. They were still miserable, but they had their clothes in the washer. I don’t know what happened - or if they changed machines. I swapped my clothes to the dryer, left and return again to pick it up. I was happy they weren’t there then - but no - my MB didn’t work. Ross was with me this time and opened the door. We got our clothes and brought them back to the room. I couldn’t figure out why my MB didn’t want to work on that door. I had no problems anywhere else.

We wanted to take the boat but when we got to the dock, it was already full and the captain said it would be at least 20 minutes before the next one. Ross really didn't want to wait so we went back to the bus stop. As some of you can guess, by the time the bus for DTD came, we probably would have been on the boat! lol
