Trip Report We're going to Disney and this old lady is gonna party!

Hi all, I have the unexpected joy of being able to write (my second ever), (pre)trip report because I'm getting old!

I wrote my first report from our August trip when we got to preview GE as AP before it opened to the public. I thought it would be the only report I got to write till November of 2020 when my husband wants to go back and have a big family trip with all in attendance.

Well I woke up this morning and realized 🤔 I will be 60 in 2 weeks and had no plans for the big day!
So after only about 5 minutes of badgering, my husband agreed a quick, down and dirty trip to celebrate my birthday was in order!

Who will be going?
Just the 3 of us from August-(yes it was Halloween in August).
Youngest kid Seth, myself Cindy and husband Gary.

Not attending my birthday blowout is my daughter Aleisha and new son-in-law Julio, as they just got back from honeymooning in France 3 days ago!
Sorry blurry pic of them in their wedding finery, and what I call my (grandthing) Queen Hera!

When-we will be there Nov 20-Nov 22 (quick blitz for sure)! But, still very excited!

What I have so far is our room, we will be staying at the Boulder Ridge Villas, as that was the only thing available at late notice for us to use our DVC points. But, I was super excited today when initially I looked, I could only find a room for each night at 2 different resorts, and then an hour later, 2 consecutive nights opened up. We love Wilderness Lodge so that worked out great!

More details to come, hopefully, with some dining and FP bookings, wish me luck!

Day 3, last day, long final horrible walk to the DME...
We got off of the boat and headed up to the main lobby to get our gear from bell services.
Gary and Seth went ahead to do this and I stopped in the restroom near Roaring Fork.
After I ran into the quick service to see if there was anything quick to grab as a snack. I think something was wrong with me because
I didn't buy either of these to take home.

How cute are these campfire cupcakes?!!

And these looked delicious too!

Again not sure why none of those went home with us.

After leaving there I walked up the outside stairs towards the lobby and took a last pic looking down towards the pool and lake.

And turned around and got a photo facing the lobby. Beautiful either direction.

This was a little display out front of the hotel to the left of the entrance. I thought it was incredible!

Remember the begging I did to transfer to the 12:10 bus? Well, we were back and in time for the 11:40 bus.
It had just pulled up to the entrance.
So I checked with Gary and Seth and they were ready to leave and I went out to the bus driver and asked if we could go early, and he said "sure, hop on"! So off we went.
When we got on the bus I saw this. Thought it was cute at first, then I thought if you were seated behind that you probably wouldn't find it so cute.

I tried to do a sad, on the bus face. It looked terrible. Just realize I did the, we're leaving Disney pout face.
I did however pose with the 'see you real soon' sign!! Hope springs eternal!

I got some food in the food court that they allowed through security. Security itself was a little hectic. The people doing the screening seemed a little confused. But, we got through there, went to the air side food court where Gary and Seth got something. We ate and only had to wait 45 minutes or so to board. We flew Southwest and while it was a full flight it was on time and we got into Pittsburgh 6 ish.

I wanted to thank you all for following along. It was so much fun to relive my trip with everyone.
I didn't realize until I wrote my first trip report how much we actually do while we are at Disney. Everything seems like a blur, no matter how much you try to slow it down and savor it.
I especially appreciate all of your well wishes regarding Gary. He is doing great. I had the whip out today and he hung up all of the outside Christmas lights! Just a teensy bit of grumbling, but otherwise no problems! 🤣
He is currently planning a big family blowout next Nov. He wants to stay at Baylake. My response, lets do it!

I hope you had fun reading, and I can't wait to read all of your trip reports!

I finally got caught up!

First - Happy belated birthday!

Second- thank you for the Disney Duck tag! I miss my Disney Ducks already. :(

I also have to laugh about your son and the way he feels about meeting internet strangers. My son is the same way. He would have been totally freaked by the meet and greets we did. The funny part is I used to raise Cain if he accepted friend requests on FB of people he did not know. Go figure...

It is different with our group of Disney friends as @Tuvalu said. I wouldn’t do it in any other circumstance but our group is a little different I think. Almost like we kinda know each other from our many, many reports.

Also have to comment on MT- I love her!! She was there when we did the Backstage Magic Tour in 2015 and she was complete hoot. She really liked B too and gave me a fit because I asked for Water and she hadn’t offered me any. She called me Lil’ Miss Princess the rest of the meal lol!

Again, Happy birthday and enjoyed the report so much.

Thanks for sharing your birthday trip with us. I’ve had a lot of fun on it 😀.
I'm so glad!
You never know what (I might find funny), that someone not only doesn't, but might even take offense to. Thanks again for following.
Thanks for sharing your fun birthday trip. Wishing both you and Gary a great holiday season.
Thanks for following along, and excellent holiday wishes to you too!

I really loved your TR. You are a hoot and seem to be handling Gary’s illness with spunk and humor.
Happy Birthday and best wishes for many many more!!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. As I responded above, I never know who I might offend with my brand of humor! I certainly don't do it on purpose.
Thanks for the birthday wishes and can't wait to read your trip report!
(And please tell me you weren't there at the same time, because I will be crushed we couldn't meet up)!

Thank you very much for the birthday greetings!

And, they somehow seem like different ducks don't they?! And interestingly, I don't know that I paid much attention to them before, so your interest and pointing them out has given me yet another cool thing to pay attention to a Disney! (Even though my son still doesn't get the duck photos). "Ducks mom, really"?

The whole internet thing is interesting. What I know as an adult is when something makes me uncomfortable, I pull back immediately. (I think it's important to listen to that lizard part of our brain).
And I have only become more comfortable with you all as time has gone by.

Isn't MT wonderful? If anyone reading this ever has a chance to meet her, make sure you do. She's awesome!

And last, thanks so much for following.

Cindy while you were waiting for your Tragical we were at the bus stop!

Once again we were thisclose to meeting!!

Thanks for sharing your birthday fun with us. 🧁
Are you serious?!
Instead of 2 ships passing in the morning, it was 2 Disney goers!:banghead:
(Someone has to come up with a cool phrase for that)!

Thank you so much for following. It was a good time. Now I have to catch up on your report!

Enjoyed your TR and thank you for sharing.

Proof positive that Disney get more fun, the older you get!
Thank you it was very fun writing it!
And absolutely!
Quick story-we met a super cute couple on the Monorail one day on a prior trip. It was from the Poly to MK.
They had to be in their 80's maybe? And they told us they had been coming to Disney every year since it opened, staying at the Poly. They said their rooms were in the 30$ range when they first started staying at Disney!! 😲
They were holding hands riding on the Monorail. So sweet.
