I've learned a lot from all the mommy talk in these threads. Can y'all still be posting when I'm a mom? I'll need this advice. :lookaroun

We just started a basic routine. Bath, pj's, book, bottle, bed. Roughly same time every night. The pediatrician said the key was putting him to bed awake (we were letting him fall asleep out in the living room w/ us and then moving him). That way when he wakes up in the night, he knows where he is and can fall back to sleep. He also said to put him in bed and then leave right away, but we don't do that. We put him in bed, he usually cries for a couple minutes and we just rub his head or belly while holding the binky for him (he can't really keep it in his mouth, it always pops out ) until he calms down. Once he calms down then we leave while he's still awake and he usually falls asleep no problem. There've been a couple nights where we've stayed in until he's asleep and it doesn't seem to make a difference. But he's sleeping anywhere from 8-11 hours w/out getting up. He'll usually wake up once during the night and we'll hear him gabbering or whining and we just let him work it out...usually falls back to sleep in about 15 minutes max.
The funny thing is, you'd think he'd be starving when he wakes up after not eating all night, but I'm lucky some mornings to even get 2 ounces in him.

I usually do bed time around the same time every night. We do PJ's, (bath every other night) rock either while eating or with paci until she is drowsy and then I lay her down. When she wakes up at night she eats like crazy. I'm starting to think that she is eating more at night than during the day. It's crazy! Some nights she goes down easily and doesn't wake up for 5+ hours. Other nights it takes forever for her to fall asleep and then she wakes up crying 30 min later. Luckily she is napping better most of the time.

Well see, Asher doesn't really nap so good. Cat napper mainly unless we're out and about then he naps really well.
Have you started her on solids yet? I've heard that helps w/ night time sleeping if they're waking up hungry still

Hi there girlies!

I just thought I'd pop in while taking a break from my research paper. :dazzle: How are we this evening?

Ewww...papers suck! My cousin and my sister are both college freshman this year, and their facebook pages always have something about papers and studying. I don't miss that at all! How is the snow?

Papers and shovelling...sounds like you are having loads of fun this weekend! Did you get to do anything fun?
We had polo practice Friday. That was fun. Then one of our friends came over with her new dog for a puppy play date while we watched a movie. Last night I was supposed to go have fun, but the snow kinda killed it for me. Ever since then, I've been stuck inside doing work. Ah well.

She's been one meal a day of solids for a little over a month now. I just added a second meal today.

Mia was a cat napper. She still takes a morning and evening cat nap with a big nap in the afternoon. I noticed that she was taking a couple short naps close together, so I started rocking her between them and trying to get her to go back to sleep. I guess one day it finally stuck and she linked them all together and took a 2 hour nap.

Is Asher being as helpful with that as Mia was? We still have unpacked boxes here after 2 months.
Yeeaaaah. Not so much. I usually put him in the bouncer in whatever room I'm packing. His amusement in watching me seems to wear off quick. Although he did find his feet a few days ago so that seems to help keep him occupied for longer

So any tips on sitting? I would love to have Asher sitting by Christmas (he'll be 6 months then). We have the Bumbo and I've been trying to sit him in that more lately...he always seems to lean to one side. I've been trying to work on tripodding w/ him too but he just folds forward in half or falls to the side. :hammer:
College kinda sucks.

It's melting. Yay! I shoveled my first driveway today. Meh.

Ick. How's the packing coming along?
:sohappy: for melting snow! Is it the dirty slush now?

It's alright. DH is a much quicker packer than I am, but I like to sort as I go so as not to move things we don't need anymore.

At least you had some fun. What movie did you watch?

We watched Up last night for the first time.

Almost. It's still pretty white and fluffy. :)

That's a good strategy. Get rid of all the unwanted things so you don't have to pack as much. Remind me again, when is move in day? This weekend?

We watched The Women. It was pretty good.

Aww, that was a good one. Did you like it?

They don't really know. But it looks like a dingo.

I've never heard of that one. I did like it, but I kept thinking it would be really scary for a kid who is afraid of dogs.

Well ladies....I think I'm going to attempt to move my sleeping baby upstairs so I can go to bed. Goodnight!
