Soooo....

mini-rant alert: why is it, when certain individuals obtain positions of leadership, feel bound to change absolutely the way things have been done in the past, even though they've been done well by trustworthy individuals? Just because they can, and to the blazes with the people they order around....even if these same people aren't being paid they are volunteers?
To explain...I brought yesterday's sales home to double count and informed our new treasurer the bag would be available for deposit this morning. Well no, that wasn't what she wanted....she wanted me to count the money at the school and leave it there. As though I can't be trusted with the money unless it stays at the school. She won't even give me deposit slips or let me stamp the back of any checks that are written, she has to do things herself. Her way or no way.
It isn't a matter of trust, she's right....it's a matter of control. And she wants all of it.
Kind of kills any desire to do anything if you have no say so in how it's done....and I love book fair. But now I just want to get away from these people....I hardly slept last night, I have knots in my stomach, I am sooo stressed out now....needed to vent. :(
((HUGS))
I understand all that. That is why we quit the things the boys were in. Soccer and Scouts. But those are other stories.
I hope you get to sleep better tonight.

Hi!
Still sweltering here in Florida. :dazzle: We're actually going down into the upper 80s today. Maybe it will be possible to breathe out there. It goes down into the upper 70s for Fishy this weekend...after I'm gone.
Weather aside, we're having a great time.
Talk to you all more when I get home.
Have a great day!

I saw your post about the rude people. I SO know how you feel. I'm on the school board this year and the politics are nuts!! :hammer:

Hi Jenny!
Sorry to hear about all the PTG politics. :(

Hi Bunny!

Thanks girls - I vented to our building principal today (she's also a good friend). She sees some of the same issues I do....I think if an opening occurs she may say something to this woman. Truth be told, it's not just me, she's been doing this to other people as well. However, I have had more stress these last two months with PTG carp than I have ever had EVER....and I'm really thinking about walking away once this book fair is laid to rest. No more volunteering. Staying home and focusing on just my kids. I'm just....burnt out. :(

That's understandable, as much as you have been doing with the PTG you deserve a break, even if you just take the rest of the school year off.

Jen - our PTO had similar policies. All fundraising events had to have money counted out immediately by at least 2 people (one of whom had to be a board member), and no one but the treasurer could take money out of the building. That way no one could accuse anyone of "skimming off the top". I'm sure it's not that she doesn't trust you, it's just her way of safe-guarding the funds. Just be glad that she was willing to take that job off your hands. Relax and enjoy what you're doing.

I'm sorry Fishy, I really have to disagree here...she is acting very highhanded...even the principal sees my point. She just tried it again with me via Facebook inbox and I finally told her enough, trust me I do know what I am doing...we always have two people count at the end of a book fair session so that we can check each other, that's always been done. But she isn't trying to find out how we do things she's just issuing her own orders. Quite frankly it's impossible to relax with her around - I'm more likely to develop an ulcer.:hammer:
It's time for me to go...I just don't like being spoon-fed like I'm incapable of doing the job right. And that may not be what she intends, but she is definitely coming across that way.

Hello all.

Just popping in between comercials. Watching Ghost Hunters, which was filmed not far from me. The last few episodes have been in my "back yard."

Enjoy!

A few weeks ago was on of the Islands in Alexandria Bay (Thousand Islands) and tonights episode is at Fort Henry (in Canada).
There are a few other episodes in this area being shot or planned to be shot, so should be interesting.
Are they looking at ghosts or supernatural occurences
