Weird & Creepy or you'd consider it?

Not to sound morbid, but we all have to die at some point. I have mentioned it to my family to sprinkle my ashes in Bay Lake when I die. Can't think of a better place for my remains to rest! I'd never have to leave the World. Weird and creepy or you'd consider it? :veryconfu

Psst...We might not want to mention it to Disney , or they might want to charge us for our internment. Ha!

I do know a person who honored a friend's dying wish to have a bit of her ashes sprinkled in WDW. She ended up very near the castle but not in any water. I was not the sprinkler, either. :animwink:

I bet it's happened in the past - perhaps the real reason they don't want anyone swimming in Bay Lake :lookaroun

When I die I will be cast in bronze and placed upon the fountain in front of Spaceship Earth. I will be posed dramatically with one hand pointing towards the future and the other hand holding an opening day EPCOT Center guidemap.

It will be awesome.

Isn't there enough clutter in Epcot already?

My Grnadmother and I sprinkled some of my Grandfathers ashes in 7 Seas Lagoon from one of the Ferries. He loved WDW and had a room in his house that was called "The Disney Room" that was totally full of Disney collectibles etc... He was also in the Navy so I figured it was a good place to scatter some of him.

Good point!

Can't you just hear a mom say to her child, "Honey, don't go in the water. You don't know what or who is floating in there!" Ok maybe I leaning more to the morbid, weird side now!

Ya know, I never thought Disney would "sell out" and build a residential subdivision on their property. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw guest surveys asking if guests would pay to be interred on property and how much they'd pay for such. I think nothing is sacred or off-limits if there's money to be made. :lookaroun

I agree, however I have given Disney so much of my money anyway, what's a little more.

I say, why not? Is spreading someone's ashes at Disney any weirder than any other ritual we do these days with the remains of the deceased, like being stuck in a box and buried underground?

If the thought of being spread at Disney provides comfort leading into death, then by all means go for it.

^^^^^^

Interesting article. Thanks for the link. I sure hate that indoor "sprinklers" cause so much hullabaloo for the cast and custodial. Personally, I'd hate to think I caused such...in life or death!

The "sprinkler" I spoke with told me they were super-discrete and that all sprinkles were distributed outside in the landscaping. I guess it's a circle of life thing. I was totally shocked when we discussed it. I never would've pegged this person for the type to do something even remotely risky. I guess it goes to show what a person will do for a friend.

Coincidentally, one of my aunts always joked she wanted her ashes spread in Hell, Michigan so she could say with certainty that while her good heart & soul went to heaven, her body did indeed go straight to Hell. We have a very interesting family....

Personally, I could care less where my remains end up. Not like I need any part of the old bod anymore. No sense in wasting a bunch of money planting a shell. Or doing something that could potentially got someone in trouble. Have a party. Celebrate life & love. Have some laughs together reminiscing and move on. If someone misses me all they have to do is think of me and I'm there. :animwink:

Remember, before they plant that body in the overpriced box they gotta cake ya up with make-up so family & friends can come look at you and discuss how "good" you look. I've never understood that part. How does a dead person look "good" make-up or not? The whole thing has always been a truly odd, uncomfortable scene for me.

I don't have a problem with "sprinkling" at WDW...so long as it's outside away from where people would be coming into contact and nobody has to come behind doing the HEPA clean-up.

Do any CM's know what Disney does with the remains if they find out they've been sprinkled there? I wouldn't want to wind up in a biohazard dump.

My mother is 79 years old, lives 500 plus miles away and has an annual pass. WDW is the only place on earth she wants to go on vacation. I have told her on more than one occasion that when she dies, I am going to have her cremated, ride the monorail, open a window, and let her fly. :lookaroun Of course the monorails don't have windows that open any more (I think the orig. ones did). I was even interviewed for a newspaper article once by someone that got the idea from this board.

Now as much as she loves It's a Small World, I'm afraid she would haunt me after continually hearing that song.

But seriously, if Disney decides to open a cemetary, they could probably make a fortune. Imagine the cool headstones.

This is common practice everywhere, but just remember peoples remains are considered a bio-hazard. To sprinkle ashes anywhere you need permission from the proper people connected to that area. If you plan on traveling through the air with the remains to disney, good luck with that and if you are caught carrying them without proper procedures in place on a plane or in disney who knows what could become of them. On a side note I would want my family to take the chance and have them sprinkled in each park at disney.
