Weird & Creepy or you'd consider it?

Folks, it is totally illegal as well as unsanitary and creepy to sprinkle cremains on someone else's (Disney's) private property. If you're caught, law enforcement will probably be notified (and have been in the past); if you do it on a ride (like POTC) the ride will be stopped and you'll be removed. Yes, rides have been stopped and people removed from the park for doing this. So please, use you common sense and keep your cremains someplace legal.

This is what I was saying before, thank you for clarifying that for me. It is considered Bio-Hazard and will be treated as such. Once again though I can see the reasons for wanting to do it but probably not a good idea to put your family in that position. I would wonder how they deal with a ride such as PotC after a Bio Hazard has been introduced to it. The water at that point would be considered contaminated wouldnt it?

It has been discussed numerous time on these boards, and while it may be illegal, it is absolutely not unsanitary. the temperature at which cremation occurs is more than hot enough to destroy all living disease, bacteria, etc..

I am sorry... How are ashes unsanitary? It may be creepy and gross to some no doubt and morbid. But unsanitary? Not at all. The living have germs, ash remains of the dead do not...its dust.

That all sounds good, and makes sense to me, but there must be a reason why ashes are considered Bio-Hazard and there are rules for not spreading them just anywhere you want.

Simple, beause people of society have dumb stigmas and because its considered remains of someone and therefore rules are implied to protect places of business and private property. That is the ilegal part. Because you don't want someone coming onto your place of home or business to dump a big pile of Ashes without you knowing. Also, its a way for funeral homes, government and said places of business to make money that way.

Like I said, I totally agree with your opinion on the subject. It really would be strange seeing people walking down Main St. dumping ashes along the way or being on space mountain and someone sprinkling ashes out above you. No way around it here, spreading ashes at WDW is a little disturbing, but I can see why people want to have it done.

Without a doubt, even without disturbing (it does not really bother me) it would be a little out of the ordinary to see and could disrupt operations.

And although I don't have problems with it I standby a company or any companies right to have issues with it.

I have asthma and a lung full of your Aunt Jean would indeed be unsanitary for me. :animwink:

While I can understand the desire to be scattered around Disney, it can pose a health risk to a significant number of people with respiratory problems.

One of my greatest regrets in life was that I could never take my dog into WDW with me. When he died a few years ago, let's just say, that we finally did make that trip together, and he's enjoying spending eternity under a nice tree in Liberty Square.

Man that is funny, and is really really reaching. Yes tossing a large amount of dust up in the air and getting into anyone's breathing is going to be a health problem. (I also am an Asthmatic)

The imagery there is hilarious, at that point they are no longer scattering.

Yikes! I realized this was a common occurrence, but I didn't realize people on the boards had done this! It is a very illegal thing to do, and, not to mention, most people don't want to come in contact with your Aunt Sue or Uncle Joe or Fido after they've gone on to the other side. I wouldn't want any kids to accidentally pick up or touch something (as kids always do) covered in remains, either.

A bit overdramatic, no? How would a child pick up what is essentially a pile of dirt, anyway?

No one is talking about walking up Main Street throwing ashes around. But discreetly pouring some remains under a tree where it just mixes in with the dirt is an entirely different thing.

I think I might want to be scattered around WDW. It seems like a great place to spend eternity. I do not see a real problem with the scattering if it is done in a discreet and responsible way. Ashes added to some planters in a discreet manner is fine with me. JMHO.

Not really no, I wouldn't consider it over-dramatic. I find it disgusting that people would want to put such a morbid thing as remains in such a happy place where many people come every day who don't want to be in contact with remains. This is also overlooking the fact that it is a place of business, and I'm sure (from seeing the action that is taken whenever remains are discovered on site) the owners do not want you putting remains illegally on their property. And with ashes being poured into the water of a ride or under a tree or on landscape, there could and probably will be human contact. It's not hard to come in contact with what looks like a pile of dirt when you're a child.

But I digress, me saying anything online isn't going to change what someone does or does not do. It's just my opinion that the spreading of remains illegally on private property should not be condoned.

I find it disgusting that people blow their nose or eat with bare hands and then wipe their hands along queue rails. Its only morbid because people don't like to face the fact that one day we all die. Its one of the purest parts of nature if not the purest.

You do realize that when you blow dust off a book that is mostly human and animal remains right? People shed constantly both hair and skinflakes by the second. You or Your child is doing mar harm by sticking their germ filled hands in the water (not attacking and it does not bother me, just stating facts of germs) or on a counter or railing or anything than this could do.

Living things have disease, completely creamted things do not.

I don't care if it's unsanitary or not, I don't care if dust is mostly human or animal skin. Spreading someone's ashes around in any type of ride is disgusting.
