I'm not completely thrilled with this page, but there are parts of it (like the journal block) that actually turned out better than I expected.

i would love to say that there is nothing to be embarassed about also, but, i too am embarassed about mine. i did do it from scratch, nothing from a kit. the only thing premade was the format, i was trying out photoshop 5.0 and used one of there layouts, which fit the challenge for the photo overlap part. but their are no embellishments or papers, i just did it from scratch. i do not like it.

well here is mine.

did you use chalk around your journaling block? i like that idea, it seems to really pull the block out. good job! love the stamps also. looks from the smiles, you all had a great time. great job using the overlapping also. great job!

Alright, so I fell this week and bruised my tail bone, so it was hard to find time to sit and scrapbook. I didn't have any disney restaurant pics so I had to use a recent trip out at home instead. My page was really rushed and I really didn't do well with the chalk. Suffice it to say, I probably won't be using chalk anytime soon. But I did indeed find it challenging and I tried something new, unfortunately, I just don't like my page very much.

I'm slightly embarrassed, but here it is..

i love the way the chalk came out on the right side. not sure what you used to get that result. but just some ideas, put the chalk inside, then use just about anything your imagination can come up with, q-tips, paper towels, pencil erasers, sponges, and pull out from the chalk and lift up. (that did not make sense did it LOL) i think the use of chalk here again, brings out that part of the layout. (unless its just me, because i am looking for it). and good job on the overlapping!

i am trying to get hubby to take me out to red lobster for dinner, after seeing all the recent commercials on tv. but he hates going out to dinner. darn the bad luck.

Unless I just get really ambitious, I'm not going to have time for this week. I was not home over the weekend and football practice started for my 10 year old (5 days a week). Plus school starts next Tuesday so I've been on the run. I should be back for the next one though.
Having the kids off to school will free up some time for scrapping. :sohappy:
Of course, this all depends on the little one taking a good long nap every day.

i hate to say it, (because it will be i have to get up early again) but i am ready for the kids to get back to school also!

i hope you can join in this week with us!

Yep. I tore the edges of the journal block and then chalked the torn edges, which is why the chalk stands out so well. Then I also chalked the whole block itself and used kleenex to knock most of it back off.

And eagles, I think your Mickey heads turned out really well for doing them from scratch. Trust me, mine would have looked absolutely horrible!

Ok gals, they ALL look GREAT. I don't see one thing wrong with any of them.

I may post a pic of a page I did a few years ago where I used chalk just for a sample of other things to use it for. Chalks/pastels can be used so many ways, I wish I had time to show you a few.

Hey maybe once I get the kids back in school, I'll post some step by step pics on some different uses. This is something we have not gotten into yet, but I could be convinced to do some "class like" topics. I bet we all have some specialty areas we could cover. Maybe?
(edit: does this make sense? like step by step instructions on different embellishments and such.)

Jenn I really like your chalk frame, that's a great idea.
Coree the dino taking a chunk out of your journaling was a stroke of genius.
And eagles I can't believe how realistic looking your chalk is! You made great Mickeys with it!

I'm almost done with mine, I'll post sometime today!

Okay, I finished. I just used the chalk to distress a little. It doesn't show up too well. The good news I've got a photo box full of pics from our 25+ trips to Disneyland last year, and I just finished my first layout!!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Ok, I know it doesn't fit the challenge but here is one I used chalks/pastels on. The flowers are dry embossed then the color was just rubbed on. I hope you can see the detail.

That's awesome, Tammy! How did you do the lettering? Are those stickers or die cuts? They look great!

You're right, I can't really see the chalk, though.

Laurie rubbing it on embossings is a great idea!

Thank you Jenn. The lettering is
Goofy - chipboard
at, kitchen - making memories rub on letters
Getting autographs - rub on from creative imaginations (I think - it's an awesome rub on set worth every penny. There's about 55+ rub ons for $12. The princess one has 75+ rub ons. I'm going to see if I can find one online to show ya'll. Just to feed the habit!:D )

Tammy, I'm glad you were able to get in on this weeks challenge, it is fabulous. We missed you last week.

Hopefully I will have more time for the next one.

Is the "getting autographs" a rub on? (ha beat me to that one....I think I have that one too)

Wow, those rub ons really turn out neat! So you can apply them over your embellishments, then. I noticed how you had some lettering over a star there.
I may have to invest in some of those! :) Now look what you've done!
