We pulled into the rest area, and immediately veered to the right into the RV only loop. Multiple signs saying “No trucks”. We were the only ones here.
We pulled into a site at the very front, closest to the car and truck lots, mainly for safety. Like I said, we were the only ones here.
We noticed signs that said “No overnight parking”. Well that’s weird, because that’s exactly what this area is designed for. Doesn’t matter, we’re going to eat, while we decide what to do.
Within minutes another RV pulls in. We have a chat. He delivers RV’s to dealerships for a living, and he ALWAYS stays here. The signs, he says, are to discourage people from doing anything more than sleeping a single night. He said that in the past, people have spent multiple nights here, setting up lawn chairs, eating outside … generally treating it like a KOA.
Then another RV joined us. They both are spending the night, so we decide to stop worrying about it. If we get a knock on the door telling us to move along at some point, then we will.
And now the place is FULL. A handful of RV’s and all the rest are trucks.
We have only slid out the kitchen slide. The generator is running. It’s certainly not going to disturb our neighbours over the two dozen diesel truck engines, that’s for sure.
We haven’t gone to bed yet obviously, so whether or not this turns out to be our first successful boondock remains to be seen.
