BIG BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(at least for those wanting cakes from the Contemporary)

I just read on another forum that Chef Brian has been reassigned back to the Contemporary Bakery!!! :):D:geek::joyfull:
He was responsible for our first two cakes from the Contemporary- which I LOVED! So, just very excited about this news. No word yet on whether or not they'll start doing more elaborate mini wedding cakes again.

Woooooo hoooooooo!

There is this part of me that wants a redo on my cake...Chef Brian style, but I know the $ would be better spent on something in the theme of this trip. i.e. anniversary. Still thinking I'm going with the GF since my proposed plans right now have both Citrico's and Narcoosee's.

Its looking like it will be Pop purely so we can afford a longer stay. Our restaurants for sure are Ohana Dinner, Akershus for breakfast, Biergarten dinner, Whispering Canyon breakfast. We have two or three more depending on nights booked. One will probably be Mama Melrose just because I want to spend more time at HS this trip since we haven't spent much time there with Cade.

Oh Man!! Now what am I going to do? ;)

Split 'em up into two. Possible to now get the best of both worlds? Priceless!!:)

eee we're scheduled for cali grill on our anniversary - i too hope they start doing more elaborate mini wedding cakes again!

I'm going to keep an eye on things. At the very least, when it's time for you to start the ordering process, you can address your email to him and see if they'll do it.

You could. I guess as you hit the prime time for ordering, you could reach out to both - if you get a good vibe from both you could split it up.

A few cakes :)

This cake with cascading roses was their feature for Disney Wedding Cake Wednesday. It's pretty, but definitely more standard wedding and less Disney wedding.

Then again, it was designed to sort of blend in with the GF's ballroom.

I just ordered my first cake ever in ten trips to WDW. A 6 inch lemon cake with vanilla buttercream. Dark pink with a sleeping beauty theme for my sister's birthday at Park Fare in a couple of weeks.

They kind of pushed back when I asked about favors other than vanilla and chocolate. She said they didn't do other fillings. Maybe because it's a small cake? I'm excited and nervous to see what they come up with.

Awesome!!! The GF has a history of pushing back on the more uncommon flavors, regardless of cake size. They are very accommodating on wedding cakes, but Pat at the GF has a long history of trying to insist chocolate and vanilla are the only options. Funny, but I ordered my friend's daughter's Sweet 16 cake through the GF a couple of years ago...flavor was lemon....GF pushed back...they still got a lemon cake in the end :) And they said it was super yummy :hungry: Be sure to post pics of the cake when you get back! Can't wait to see it!!!

And welcome to WDW Magic!!!!

Nice to see that you got a lemon cake. Now the cake itself is lemon flavored i assume? I wonder about a lemon filling or a lemon frosting HMMM DH wants lemon cake for our anniversary cake. we will be at the Yacht Club so hopefully they will comply. They did an oreo cookie filling for me in Jan or my b-day cake.

Glad to see yet another lemon cake. Just hope Yacht Club will once again do what I ask for.

While I did not get to eat the cake (even though they did drive all the way home from WDW with it), it is a lemon flavored cake. The GF seems to be the only one that gives people grief about flavors. Still no guarantees, but most of the other bakeries seem to be better about other flavors in cake orders.

I really wanted the lemon mouse filling that is on their list of cake filling but the lady said they don't have them. She said that she would make a note about the lemon cake, so it doesn't even sound like it is a guarantee. I said I would call to confirm a few days before and maybe I can re-urge my request;)

This has to be the best thread ever! Thanks for sharing. Now I have to figure out what to order for my daughter's high school graduation!

Side note: our first cake order was a simple yoda cake at Teppan Edo. There was a serious miscommunication...cake came out fine...but the writing was Yoda style and said "Happy Birthday....We hope you have a daddy!"....when it should have been "Happy Birthday....we hope you have!" That has become the epic WDW memory for our family and no one lets my husband forget his 40th birthday.

That is HYSTERICAL! :p They are one of the restaurants serviced by an outside vendor, so odd things seem to be more common...although, this is the best I've seen! Can't wait to see what you get for your next cake :)

The flavors listed are the wedding cake flavors. The GF and BW bakery are the best places to try to get all of these options; however, the GF will claim that some of these flavors are only an option when they have a couple doing a tasting. Still, you never know and it can't hurt to ask. You could always take the angle that you know it's a flavor that's an option for wedding cakes...so maybe they can accommodate it for a special occasion cake.

This is a mini wedding cake also made by the Contemporary bakery. It's a mini interpretation of the couple's wedding cake...

And this is their original wedding cake (don't think it was Disney made)

This is a Stitch themed mini wedding cake made by BW bakery. Stitch was supplied by the person who bought the cake. I believe it was $25 and had Amaretto filling- YUM!

Not sure which Disney bakery made this, but it has some touches that make me think GF.

And finally- a wedding cake. This one was actually made out in Cali at the Grand Californian, but I think the pandas on top are kind of cute.

The wedding cake Wednesday WDW cake for the week is very similar to a previously posted pic, but I'll post it anyway since a few of the little details, like the gondola, are things I don't remember seeing before.
